It was a bright sunny day as I was walking through the village when something sharp sunk into my right shoulder. Blood splattered and trickled down my arm. Some of the crimson red liquid dripped to the ground, staining the road with dark brown spots. I grasped my shoulder in pain, bending over in agony. My knees weak, thudded to the ground. My vision was going in and out, blurring my surrounding area.
I panted heavily, trying to stay conscious long enough to shout out for help. Yet no words would come out. I kept trying. Still, there was nothing. Reluctantly, I gave in to the darkened doom of sleep. After that, I knew nothing.
Keieda's POV
I was on my way back from getting medicinal herbs when I saw a young girl lying on the ground. Half her arm was covered in blood. I walked over to her, put my baskets of herbs down, and checked her to make sure she was alright. Oh dear, I better bring you in and fix that wound of yours. I thought to myself as I took the girl to my hut.
I washed the girl's wound, which once clean was merely a slightly deep slash. I wrapped it up then put her in bed for the evening in an extra cottage that was outside my house not too far away. Once I put the girl to bed and I headed in, I heard a knock on my door. I went to answer it.
As I opened the door, I saw Kagome holding Inuyasha very tightly. As she walked in, I saw the others coming in side by side. "Oh, hello Kagome, did Inuyasha get injured again?" I asked, not surprised even if he did or not. She sighed. "Unfortunately, yes, but other than that he seems fine to me." Kagome replied while helping Inuyasha stand on his feet. I shook my head at him. "Come in and I'll take care of Inuyasha." I sighed, taking Inuyasha from Kagome. "So, do you think he'll be alright? I think he got hurt really bad." Kagome asked with her hands up to her mouth slightly.
I went into the kitchen and grabbed some supplies then headed back and started to wash up Inuyasha's wound. "Ah yes, Inuyasha will be fine as long as ye doesn't go anywhere from here for about a week." I explained as I finished bandaging Inuyasha's wounds. "What? So that means I can't do anything for a week!" Inuyasha yelled with a whine. "Inuyasha, calm down or you'll open your wounds again." Kagome warned. "Kagome's right Inuyasha. You need to calm down a bit." Shippo sighed agreeing with her. "Humph, fine. I'll try, but I won't make any promises." Inuyasha pouted.
Inuyasha's POV
Later on that night, I was walking around outside with a star filled sky above and an almost full moon over my head. I noticed an extra hut not too far from where I was standing. I walked closer to it and saw a dim light pouring through the window. I walked even closer to it. Now I stood at the window where I saw the light. I wonder if anyone is in there.
I walked to the door and checked the lock. Nope, the door was unlocked. I twisted the doorknob and it clicked open, making a slight squeaking noise. As I walked in the room, I heard a lot of rustling blankets and mumbling.
Kiko's POV
I started moving around a lot. I stopped and tried to open my eyes. It was a little fuzzy at first, but it soon started to clear up. When I awoke, I saw a tall and skinny boy standing at the doorway. As my eyes crossed his, I looked at him and I thought he was kind of cute. "Um, who are you and what do you want?" I asked, slightly scooting back on my bed. "I'm Inuyasha. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. So, what's your name?" The guy Inuyasha answered. He walked closer and closer until he was crouched next to me by the bed. "Um, my name is Kiko Mitarashi. I don't know how I got here." My smile faded as I looked down at my lap, playing with my fingers. "So Kiko, how did you get that bandage on your right shoulder?" Inuyasha asked looking at my right shoulder. "Oh, I um, don't remember. But I know it still hurts." I rubbed my sore shoulder slightly. "Well, I better be heading back before I get yelled at again." He said starting to stand up.
Inuyasha's POV
I was in the position to get up when Kiko started to say something. "Inuyasha, please don't leave me. I want you to stay here." Kiko begged, grabbing onto me and burying her face into my chest. I sigh. "I guess I'll stay. It's probably too late to go back in anyways." I sighed, somewhat giving in to her. "Thank you, thank you, Inuyasha." She cried with joy, hugging me tightly in her arms. I sighed again, grinning slightly and did nothing to move her. I knew she wouldn't be too happy if I did.
I just sat there helplessly letting Kiko hug me as tight as her fragile arms would allow. She looked so innocent and so very helpless. If Kiko got near someone evil, she would be killed in an instant.
To my surprise, I was rubbing Kiko's back gently with my free hand. Her grasp got weaker and lighter as the minutes passed. I got up and laid Kiko back on her bed. She winced a little then was silent. I laid down next to her with my eyes open and alert for anyone who might come in.
After about fifth teen minutes or so later, I too was out. Sleeping soundly while Kiko's sleeping form was undisturbed. The next morning, I woke up with something wet and warm on my face. I opened my eyes to see Kiko drooling on me.
Without any realization, I slid her off of me and wiped off her wet saliva. "Inuyasha, are you still here?" Kiko asked, still possibly talking in her sleep. "Uh, yeah. Why?" I asked, dumbfounded. "Oh, I thought you left me after I had fallen asleep last night." She said, worried. "Why would you think that I would leave you here all by yourself?" I asked, even though it would probably be something that I would do. I started to sit up straight. "I was just curious. My mother used to stay with me and then leave when I would fall asleep." She explained, laying her head on my lap.
I could feel the warm tears soaking my pants as she was slightly sobbing. The moment I couldn't take the wetness anymore, I moved Kiko onto my chest then started to rub her back softly.
Kiko's POV
"Kiko, I have to go inside now, or I'll get a big knot on my head from my friends." Inuyasha said, getting up to head for the door. "Aww, but I don't want to stay here all by myself. Please can you take me with you? I promise I'll be good." I begged. "Oh alright, but you better behave like you say you will." Inuyasha answered sternly. "Thank you Inuyasha, for letting me come with you to see your friends." I thanked him. "So Kiko, are you able to walk on your own?" He asked. "Yeah, I think so." I said. "Okay then, try to get up and walk." He instructed. I get up and walk slowly towards Inuyasha. "How's that Inuyasha?" I asked, grinning like an idiot. "Normal-ish." He half smiled. Inuyasha and I walked back to the main hut to meet his friends. It was a pretty good distance to walk. Five minutes felt like almost an hour to me.
The whole walk was mere silence and neither one of us said a word. The only things that were heard were little coughs, footsteps, and the sound of the two of us breathing. Finally, Inuyasha and I had reached the door. Instead of knocking, he just turned the knob and walked right in.
For reasons of my own, I stayed half hidden behind Inuyasha, clutching onto the back of his robes a little. "Oh, good morning Inuyasha." The old lady greeted. She then noticed me. "What are ye doing out of bed young lady?" The lady asked sternly when she saw me poking out from behind Inuyasha. "Oh um, I just wanted to see more than just a small little room." I managed to spit out. "When did ye wake up then?" She asked. "Oh, I woke up last night. Inuyasha came in my room and kept me company." I explained. She didn't look too happy when I mentioned this. "Inuyasha, why did you go into this young girl's room last night when ye should have been resting their wounds?" She scolded. "I couldn't sleep last night, so what's it's to you old lady?" He asked, sticking up his nose. "Inuyasha needs to rest now, so ye needs to do something else." She pointed to him. But I know that he didn't move a muscle. The lady then turned her attention to me. "By the way, what is your name child?" She asked in a kinder tone. "Um, my name is.." I tried to say.
Before I could tell her my name, Inuyasha interrupted me. "Her name is Kiko Mitarashi." Inuyasha said from the door on his way out. Now he moves. Figures. "Kiko is it, hmm. Well Kiko, why don't you go wait for me in the kitchen so I can do one last check on your wounds." The lady said as she started to leave. I nodded my head and walked off into the kitchen.
As I approached the kitchen, I saw two girls, a monk, and a fox child talking amongst themselves. "Hey guys, it looks like we're not the only ones here." I hear one of the girls say to the others that were in the kitchen as well. "Hi there, can I join you?" I asked the group of people standing by the table in the kitchen. "Sure miss. Hey, what's your name?" The little fox asked. "My name is Kiko and you're a cute little fox." I smiled, patting his head. A blush spreads across his cheeks. "That's a pretty name. By the way, my name's Shippo." He blushed. "Nice to meet you Shippo. Uh, what's the rest of your names?" I laughed. "My name's Kagome Higurashi." Kagome smiled. "I'm Sango and this is Kirara." Sango pointed to a little cat. "My name is Miroku and would you like to do the honor of baring my child?" Miroku asked with a cheap grin. Sango slaps Miroku on the cheek, leaving a huge pulsing red handprint. "Miroku, you ask that to almost every woman you see. Let the girl have some respect." Sango scolded, an anime vein forming on her forehead. Miroku sighs, holding his face.
Kagome's POV
"Kagome, do you have some shikon jewel shards?" Kiko asked, surprised. I was shocked. "You can sense them too Kiko?" I asked, surprised. "Yeah, but I didn't know that I could, I just guessed that you did." She said. "Inuyasha will like that you can sense them too." I said excitedly. "Inu, Inuyasha." Kiko stuttered before dropping to the ground.
Kiko's POV
My shoulder started to burn like a forest fire. The pain seared through half of my arm and I started to get really dizzy. I grasped my shoulder and clenched my teeth together. I stumbled around, wanting the pain to end. My head started to spin then everything got blurry before going black.
Kagome's POV
After I told Kiko she could sense jewel shards like me, all she said was "Inuyasha". Then she started to clench her teeth and hold her right shoulder tightly. Was something wrong with her? "Shippo, Sango. Go get Inuyasha and Keieda!" I ordered, pointing to the kitchen entrance. Shippo and Sango nodded their heads as they both raced out of the kitchen for help.
Shippo's POV
I finally found Inuyasha. He was in the room that Keieda always checks her patients. "Inuyasha, Inuyasha, come quick! We need your help in the kitchen. Please hurry up!" I yelled impatiently. Inuyasha turns to me and starts to frown. He gets up and walks toward me and before I can get away, he grabs me by my tail, letting me dangle in his grasp. "Shippo, I'm sure you can go and ask Kagome to help you with whatever you're trying to cook. Now get out of here." Inuyasha said, letting go of my tail. "But Inuyasha, you have to come. It's this girl named Kiko. I think she's in pain!" I yelled at him one last time. "Then why didn't you say something Shippo?" Inuyasha asked, grabbing me storming out the room.
Inuyasha's POV
After Shippo informed me that Kiko was probably in pain, I grabbed him and stormed out of the room and into the kitchen. "Kagome, is Kiko alright?" I asked her as worry took over the tone in my voice. "She'll be fine after Keieda gives her some medicine. She just collapsed out of nowhere." Kagome said. Realization washed over and she turned to me. "Wait, how do you know her name Inuyasha?" Kagome asked, anger forming in her tone. "I'll explain that later, but right now we have to help Kiko." I told her. I paused when I saw the sight below me. "Um Kagome, why does Miroku have Kiko sitting on his lap unconscious?" I asked, my eye twitching. "I don't know, but he needs to stop trying to ask her out when Sango isn't around." Kagome whispered, getting annoyed. I walk over to Miroku, hitting him hard on the head. "Now leave her alone Miroku!" I scolded, taking Kiko from him.
I sat on the floor with Kiko curled up in my lap unconscious. She looks so Innocent and calm, but inside I bet she feels like there's a thousand needles sinking into her shoulder making her want to scream bloody murder. Kiko felt a little cold, yet she was still warm. I watched her motionless body as I saw Sango and Keieda walking in the silent room out of the corner of my eye. "Inuyasha, why don't ye sit her on the table so I can give Kiko her medicine." Keieda instructed. I get up and sit Kiko on the table as told. Keieda opens Kiko's mouth and slips the medicine in.
Kiko's POV
I felt something ice cold running down my throat and I begin to slowly swallow it. Other than the dizziness and the numb feeling in my legs, I tried to slide off of whatever I was sitting on. With my body still slightly numb, it was hard to tell what I was doing because my eyes wouldn't open. As I fell, for one moment I thought I could feel someone catching me. "Whoa, gotcha." I heard a familiar voice say. "Inuyasha, is that you?" I managed to ask. "Yeah and you're gonna be just fine." I heard Inuyasha say. "Thanks." I smiled a little, the dizzy feeling returning once again. My head kept spinning in circles. The turning wouldn't stop. I felt light and cloudy, the black mask strikes again.
What felt like an eternity, I slowly drifted back to consciousness again. "Mhmmmm." I stirred. "Hey guys, I think she's about to wake up." Inuyasha's voice appeared, yet it sounded muffled. "Ah, the beautiful girl has returned to me." I heard the perverted monk cheer. "Miroku, would you cut that out already!" He yelled, smacking Miroku on the head and making a bump appear. I saw out of the corner of my eye Miroku sighing and rubbing the bump on his head. I slightly smiled, shaking my head.
I turned my head back to face Inuyasha when one of his ears started to twitch. It was so cute and I had the urge to want to touch it. When he wasn't paying enough attention, I reached my hand up to scratch one of his ears. His ear was so soft and velvety feeling. I snuggled my head closer to his chest still scratching his left ear. I felt Inuyasha's head turn as his bright yellow eyes beamed at me. "Why are you scratching my ears?" He asked in wonder, yet he didn't push away my hand. "Um, they looked so soft and I felt the urge to touch them." I blushed, slowly pulling my hand away. "Eh, it's okay. Hey um, Kiko, could you take a walk outside with me?" He asked shyly. "Mmhm." I smiled, nodding my head. I pull my hand away from Inuyasha's ear and turned over to get up.
Once I'm up and on my feet, Inuyasha is standing by my side. I may not be able to hear distantly and glass clear like Inuyasha, but I swear that the others were whispering and mumbling things about us. He casually speeds up his pace and opens the door for me to pass through first. Inuyasha follows out behind me as little grunts and soft growls slip through. "Something wrong Inuyasha?" I asked, worried. "You seem a little on edge." I point out. "It's nothing, don't worry." Inuyasha's annoyed expression softened to a warm and assuring smile. I nodded my head and smiled back. The tips of his fingers brushed mine sending a rush of tingles up my hand. I blushed, smiling nervously, allowing him to intertwine his fingers with mine.
The two of us walked along the path without speaking many words. It stayed quiet for some time. It was kinda nice and somewhat romantic. On the other hand it was kind of nerve racking because I wanted to know what he wanted to talk to me about.
Kagome's POV
I watched as Kiko stared at Inuyasha's ears. I could tell that she was getting the same urge to touch them like I once did when I first met him. Kiko slowly raised her hand, the tips of her fingers just barely touching the ends of his left ear. She rubs his ear with her finger then begins to scratch it with the rest. I covered my mouth slightly and laughed to myself at the cute pair.
I wonder if he knows what she's doing. Then again, he may know and just be looking at us like we're nuts or something. He looks down at her with an "Uh, what are you doing?" expression painted on his face. "Why are you scratching my ears?" He asked, yet he didn't push away her hand like he did mine. "Um, they looked so soft and I felt the urge to touch them." She blushed and slowly pulled back her hand. "Eh, it's okay. Hey um, Kiko, could you take a walk outside with me?" He asked shyly. "Mmhm." Kiko smiled, nodding her head. I turn my attention back to the others. "Do you think that he likes her or something?" I ask, thinking about Inuyasha's protectiveness and interest in Kiko.
"He does stick to her like glue most of the time." Shippo clarified. "Inuyasha seemed to be pretty concerned about her when she passed out earlier." Sango added. "It all adds up to the conclusion that he likes her." I said, putting my finger on my lip. "Kiko and Inuyasha are cute together. What do you think Kagome?" Shippo asked, smirking and giggling. "Yeah, they are cute. Just the way he looks at her. It's so sweet." Sango smiled. I sighed and started to accept the obvious. "I guess you're right. Those two are kind of cute together." I sighed then gave them a warm smile. I turned around and saw Inuyasha and Kiko walk towards the front door. He kindly opened the door letting her pass through it first, then casually following out behind with little grunts and soft growls that slipped through his teeth.
Kiko's POV
"Inuyasha, what did you want to talk to me about?" I asked him nervously. "To me, it's more like what I want to tell you." Inuyasha lowered his voice some. "Okay, so tell me." I pushed on. "It's just that I um... I love you." He stammered. "Umm, Inuyasha... I, I dunno... what to say." I blushed, butterflies filling my stomach to the brim. "Just tell me one thing, do you feel the same about me?" Inuyasha asked, stopping in his tracks and putting his hands on my shoulders. He then started looking at me seriously with his big bright yellow eyes.
I sigh and ease my shoulders. "Even though I've just met you, like I mean literally only a couple hours ago, but I just wanna say that you've done something to me on the inside and it makes me want to be closer to you. So, I guess in a way, you could say that I love you too." I answered back with a knowing big bright blush on my cheeks. "So, I guess that this does mean you do believe in love at first sight." He smirked with a slight chuckle. "So, I guess I do." I giggled as his face came closer to mine. As his face came closer to mine, I really started to blush.
So this is it, he was really about to kiss me. And so before I knew it, Inuyasha's warm and tender lips came crashing down on mine. The way the kiss felt, it was unimaginable and hard to explain. It tingled and it felt right kissing him too. His lips parted from mine and I felt distorted and dizzy like. I blinked my eyes a few times and felt a little better. Wow, this is what love feels like.
I paused for a moment then began to ask my apparently new boyfriend a question. "Um, Inuyasha, what about the others, what do we tell them?" I asked curiously. "Eh, don't worry, we'll tell them later." Inuyasha smiled. He paused only for a second before kissing my forehead, leaving me with a speechless smile and a pink tint to my once reddened face.
