"Hey don't wait up for me today, okay?"

Shinso glanced over to Ayumu who was fidgeting with the straps of her backpack. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, some of the girls want to go out and hang out, you know, bond or whatever. We're all going to hang out during lunch to plan it out."

"Oh, well that'll be fun, I guess."

"I would have invited you, but it's just going to be all girls,so-."

Shinso slowed his pace to match Ayumu who seemed to be walking slower with each step as they neared the school.

"Don't worry about it, it was bound to happen eventually. Go off and find new friends without me."

Ayumu rolled her eyes, "Shut up, it's not like that. It's just all girls going."

"Yeah, we'll see. I'm sure you'll have a good time." Shinso said as they rounded the corner toward the gates of UA.

Shinso glanced over to Ayumu. Her fingers were wrapped tightly around the straps of her backpack and her knuckles were turning white. Her gaze was fixed on the ground in front of her, obviously uncomfortable and feeling guilty.

Shinso sighed and bumped his shoulder into Ayumu, knocking her out of her trance, "I was just messing with you. You should be making friends in your own class. Stop feeling guilty."

As they rounded the corner to the school, the pair noticed that outside of the main gate, reporters were sworming, harassing students as they walked by. Shinso grabbed Ayumu by the strap of her backpack and pulled her to a stop.

"Let's go around the south entrance."

"No we'll be late if we go all the way around. Here," Ayumu took Shinso's hand and started pulling him forward toward the crowd. "We'll just push our way through. Just ignore them."

Reporters continued to shout at students as they headed into the school, everyone asking if they were in All Might's class and what kind of teacher he was. Ayumu and Shinso moved quickly, zigzagging through the crowd.

They had forced their way through just as Mr. Aizawa was heading out to tell the reporters to leave.

"I hope that doesn't become a regular thing. That would be pretty annoying."

"Yeah it would."

They walked in comfortable silence for a while until they made it to the point where they had to part ways.

"Well I'll text you tonight and let you know how it went. Wish me luck." Ayumu gave Shinso's hand a quick squeeze before heading off down the corridor toward her own class.

The class was buzzing as usual, everyone sitting around talking to their friends as the class had broken off into groups.

"Hey, Suzuki! Did you see all the reporters outside?" Mina asked as Ayumu dropped her bag down beside her desk before rummaging through it to get her supplies for the day.

"Yeah it was crazy trying to get into the school. Honestly, it's a little annoying."

Mina slipped into the desk next to Ayumu, "Well, it couldn't have been that bad for you getting in today."

Something in Mina's voice made Ayumu look up from her book bag. Mina was smiling knowingly, waiting for Ayumu to reply.

"What are you talking about?"

Mina's smile got wider, "Well, I heard that you came into school today holding hands with some boy from general studies."

Ayumu laughed despite herself, "Oh no, he's just a friend. It's not like that. I was just helping him get through the reporters, he's not really a people person."

"I don't know, I've heard you hang out with him a lot." Mina teased.

"I've known Hitoshi forever, it's really not what you think. He's just a friend, my best friend, but just a friend."

"Mhm."

"He is!" Ayumu insisted, laughing.

The conversation was cut short by Mr. Aizawa coming into the classroom. He began going over the previous days activities. He chastised Bakugo for pouting and Midorya for breaking more of his bones during the exercise.

"Let's get down to business. This first task will decide your future." The words sent chills down everyone's spines. The first week of school had been brutal with the quirk test, but now something that could dictate everyone's future? It was too much. " You all need to pick a class representative."

The class broke out into shouting, everyone giving reasons why they should be chosen as the class representative. Ayumu shrunk back into her seat. Being class representative would be a huge step in getting into the hero business after graduation, but she would leave that to someone else. Leading her peers wasn't something she thought she'd be any good at.

Iida finally broke in through the chaos, "The only fair way to decide who it will be is to put it to a vote."

And that's what they did. Everyone pulled out a slip of paper and began scribbling down names. Ayumu tapped her pencil's eraser on her desk as she looked around at each of her classmates.

Finally, her eyes landed on Midoriya. He seemed to get along with everyone in the class, with the exception of Bakugo. People could probably get behind him. So she scribbled his name quickly onto the paper and then dropped it into the bucket on Mr. Aizawa's desk. Iida counted the votes, tallying each one up on the black board as he did.

In the end, Midoriya had 4 votes and Yoyoroza had 2. Most other people had 1 vote with the exception of a few who had 0 votes. Midoriya seemed surprised that he had gotten any votes at all.

"All right you idiots, who voted for him?" Bakugo was livid.

"What? Did you honestly think anyone was going to vote for you?" Sero asked.

Bakugo started arguing back and forth with Sero while Aizawa announced Midoriya as the representative for class 1-a and Yaoyorozu as the deputy representative. Before dismissing everyone for lunch.

Ayumu and Mina headed toward the cafeteria chatting about what to do after school.

"Well I was thinking we could maybe just go to the mall and get something at the food court, maybe do a little shopping." Mina suggested.

"Yeah whatever is fine." Ayumu said, walking into the cafeteria. She looked around to see if she could spot Shinso, but he didn't seem to be anywhere that she could see.

"I already talked to Higakure and she said she wants to do some shopping for swimsuits before summer is here."

Ayumu hummed in agreement, but was still looking around for Shinso when she sat down at the table with Mina. Mina noticed Ayumu's far away look and followed her gaze around the cafeteria.

"What are you looking for?"

"What?" Ayumu brought herself back from her search. Shinso wasn't there. "It's nothing."

Mina smiled knowingly, "looking for your boyfriend?" She teased.

"He's not my boyfriend." Ayumu rolled her eyes.

"Who's not your boyfriend?" Higakure asked, coming to sit next to Mina. Tsuyu took a spot next to Ayumu.

"No one." Ayumu insisted, giving Mina a pointed look that went ignored.

"That one guy she always eats lunch with that she was holding hands with this morning."

The girls giggled.

"Holding hands? That sounds like your boyfriend." Higakure chimed.

Ayumu rolled her eyes again, "Look, Hitoshi has been my best friend since we were like… 6. He is not, nor has he ever been my boyfriend."

Before anyone could reply, a loud bell began to ring "Attention, there has been a level 3 security breach. Please exit the building in an orderly fashion."

"What's that? What's a level three security breach?" Someone asked.

"Someone broke through the barriers. We've got to go!" A third year shouted from another table.

Most of the students were rushing toward the main exit. Ayumu turned toward the doors that led to the outside. Mina noticed Ayumu turning toward the other doors and grabbed her by the wrist.

"Where are you going?"

Ayumu pulled her wrist away. "I have to find Hitoshi, he's not in the cafeteria, he might not have heard the alarm. I'll meet you back in class."

Ayumu ran outside toward the back of the school. Once away from the crowd she stopped and ran her fingers through her hair. She tried to think of where he could have been. Shinso wasn't one for crowds and the two of them had been having lunch outside more often. Then it hit her. Ayumu took off running back toward the cafeteria.

On the other side of the cafeteria, there was a small courtyard with a bench under a maple tree. Shinso was sitting on the bench, eating his lunch, oblivious to what was happening in the buildings.

"Hitoshi!"

He looked up at Ayumu running toward him. He set his lunch aside and stood up. One look at her face told him something was wrong.

"Come on, we've got to go." Ayumu grabbed Shinso's hand and started pulling him back toward the main building. "There was a level three security breach. I'm not really sure how serious that is, but even the third years seemed freaked out. Come on."

Ayumu pulled Shinso into the first unlocked room she came across. It was an unused classroom. Extra desks were pushed around the room along with old textbook and other random school supplies packed away into boxes. Ayumu locked the door and shoved a chair under the handle before sitting on one of the extra desks.

"We'll just wait in here until we get the all clear."

Shinso pulled one of the dust covered chairs off of a stack and sat down in it by the door. "Thanks for coming to get me."

"It would have been easier if someone would just eat in the cafeteria." Ayumu scolded. "I'm just glad I found you before anything happened. I went in the opposite direction at first. I started going toward the back of the school to avoid the crowd in the hallways."

"I wonder what set off the alarm." Shinso mused scooting closer to the door to try and hear if anything was going on in the hallways.

"I have no idea."

The two sat in silence, listening to the sounds in the hallway. Every once in a while they could hear some footsteps, but no one tried to open the door. After what felt like hours, another voice came over the speaker that informed everyone that the campus had been cleared and everyone was to return to their classrooms.

Ayumu looked at Shinso and smiled. Everything was fine. Everything was back to normal. She hopped off the desk and he put back the chair before unlocked the door.

As they arrived at the corner where they were to part ways, Ayumu turned suddenly to Shinso and pulled him into a tight hug. Shinso hesitated for a second before returning the hug loosely. As she pulled away, her blue eyes locked with his dark ones, "Let's go train together after school today."

Shinso looked at her carefully, "I thought you had plans."

"I'll cancel them. Meet me in the gym on campus after school."

Ayumu didn't give Shinso a chance to answer before she went skipping down the hallway toward class 1-a.
