The following morning, Apple was in a meeting with her mother who had shown up before classes began.

"What were you thinking, Apple?!" asked Queen Snow White as she slammed a newspaper down on a table. The front cover had the headline 'Shocking Breakup' with a picture of Daring and Apple facing away from each other and a tear between the two.

"I was thinking that I'm done being everyone's little puppet," said Apple.

"What's that supposed to mean?" asked Queen Snow White.

"It means I never wanted to marry Daring in the first place!" said Apple as she jumped out of her seat.

"You just decided that for me and I went along with it because I wanted to please others, but now I'm fed up with it," she said.

"Why did you pick now to say all of this?" asked a shocked Queen Snow White.

"The other day I discovered that you have been hiding what my grandmother did to the gay community," said Apple.

"How did you find out about that?" asked Queen Snow White.

"It doesn't matter how I found out, what does is why you haven't fixed the damage she did, it's been years, and nothing has changed at all from what she did," said Apple.

"It's not that simple, Apple," said Queen Snow White.

"She signed a magical contract, it can only be broken under certain conditions, and they have not been met," she said.

"Then I guess I'll never get married," said Apple as she turned around to head toward the door in order to leave.

"Just because this is unfair doesn't mean you can protest by not getting married!" said a furious Queen Snow White.

"I'm not protesting!" said Apple while whirling back around on her mother.

"I'm never going to get married because I'm gay, mother!" she said as tears began to well up.

"Wh… what?" asked Queen Snow White who was too stunned to think. Apple just took this as her chance and ran out of the room.
