It's All Gouda

Prompt:

Today is the ghost king's coronation, only it's not who you expect. (PR207)

For: KingLazrus

Synopsis:

Vlad and Danny must pick who the next Ghost King will be. Too bad they don't have any trustworthy mutual allies…. Or do they?

Team Ghost :)

I watched the two halfas from afar with quiet curiosity. They were sitting in the fancy green, and gold styled living room. The younger halfa- Danny Phantom- sat on the leather couch with his legs up and resting on seat beside him.

Vlad did not seem to even care that Danny had his muddy converse shoes up on the couch. He sat on the leather armchair adjacent to Danny with his legs crossed, his right elbow resting on the arm of the chair, and his right hand supporting his chin.

A cold blue mist had escaped Danny's lips as I entered the room. He looked around trying to find the ghost responsible. But I was invisible. Vlad did not seem to even notice my entrance. Whether it was because he was very deep in thought, or because he became accustomed to it over the years.

I seemed to have interrupted a very interesting debate between the two. However, it seemed pretty civil, which was a surprise since their personalities often clashed violently.

"No. Not Skulker!" responded Danny, with extra emphasis on Skulker, asking secretly if that was the ghost he had felt entering the room.

"Why not?" replied Vlad, "He is an excellent candidate. He is strong willed, and I can see him being an excellent leader. He does have a few less than desirable qualities but the ghost zone needs a strong king."

"He is an ally of yours…" recalled Danny, "and, don't get me started on his whole hunting obsession. With the ring might cause him to take things too far. What if he wants to hunt me or you because we are halfa's? He will have a lot more power, and influence. I don't think we could stand a chance to fight against him."

"Already planning regicide aren't we, little badger."

Danny huffs and crosses his arms, "Not like you weren't".

"Fair," sneered Vlad, "What about a royal from Aragon's kingdom? Isn't Dorathea one of your allies?"

"I already talked to her. She has been very busy running *her* kingdom and helping the residents adjust to all the modern technology. She is worried that if she becomes Ghost Queen there would be no one to take over her throne, and she is concerned about rebellion from subjects who admired her brother. Obviously, she is loyal to her kingdom first and foremost, but would gladly ally with the Ghost King."

"Admirable" says Vlad with a mutual expression, seeming slightly bored. He turns his head and looks at the clock in the room.

"It's so unfair that they are making us pick," whined Danny, moving his arms around for emphasis, "It's like waving a candy bar in front of a child and then telling him he can't have it, but he has to pick who can."

"Rightfully so," Vlad said with a smirk, "I would have gladly taken up the throne. I don't understand why a halfa can't be King of the Infinite Realms. We are still ghosts at our core. There is nothing biologically speaking that would prevent us from usurping power."

"Pft. Like I would let you" replied Danny with a brave laugh.

"And I would let you?" Vlad says with a hint of sarcasm in his voice, "Your goody two shoes nature would just cause trouble. You would be too kind for the ghost zone. I doubt you could pass judgment on those who need a harsh punishment. You also seem to forget that you don't have the experience of running large companies as I have. You're, what, 15? Definitely too young to rule the throne. You would have needed a regent till your 18. Plus, as Mayor, I even have had experience running a town. I would be a magnificent king."

"You would probably rule with an iron fist. Taking over both the Human Realm and the Ghost Zone. With both the Ring of Rage and the Crown of Fire you would be unstoppable. The anger and betrayal you feel towards my dad would be amplified- and- I'm sure it won't just be him in the crosshairs. People want a leader not a dictatorship, Vlad. We don't need more pointless rules, the ghost zone has Walker for that. And no- Walker is not a candidate for the throne. I would be a way better king than you. Yeah, I'm inexperienced, but at least I have a heart. I know most of the ghost zone or they at least know me. I have a lot more ghost allies than you do-"

"And a lot more enemies," Vlad interjected, "So you would willingly walk away from your superhero life?"

"Well…." stammered Danny, "I thought..."

"And your family and friends, hum?"

"I see your point…." Danny huffed, sinking further down on the leather couch. His head was now using the arm of the couch as a pillow. He blew air upwards, and it fluttered his raven-colored bangs out of his eyes.

They seemed to have met at a stalemate. I had briefly forgotten why I came downstairs in the first place. Ah. Yes. I was on my way to the kitchen. I was going to find some cheese. charcuterie boards were so fancy, and Vlad had just bought some for a party he was planning on hosting. I floated over to the kitchen and grabbed some milk, and some cheese from the charcuterie boards to eat as a snack. I turned around excited to continue to watch the two halves for entertainment.

"Who is other a neutral or an ally with both of us… with experience running things?" Asked Danny, who ignored another blue wisp that came out of his mouth as I reentered the room.

"I can only think of one… but no not him. Anything but him," Vlad says with wide eyes.

"Who?" Danny gasped, supporting an equal expression to Vlad's. It left me to wonder which ghost had intimidated Vlad enough to warrant that kind of reaction.

Vlad fiddles with his suit jackets cuffs, sighing before responding, "the Dairy King"

"See, he is already a king," Danny said, jumping up off the couch with enthusiasm.

"OF DAIRY" retorted Vlad.

"What is he your arch neme-swiss?" Teased Danny.

The boy was impressively quick with the cheese pun.

"No!" Vlad responded, "He can be just a bit annoying sometimes, and he eats all the cheese in my house."

That was true.

"Yeah so… he is perfect," started Danny, "He knows how to be a king, and he is kindhearted, and he won't go around and start fights. He had experience running his dairy empire. I would personally trust him with the throne."

"He will make the Ghost Zone full of cheese, or dairy cows or something." Vlad said, putting his hand to his forehead in frustration.

"Honestly, if that's the worst he will do, the ghost zone has nothing to worry about. Looking around me I can definitely see that your castle is not overrun with cheese. In fact, it's probably out of cheese and dairy. I am sure he can be responsible. Plus- he probably has a secondary obsession being a king so obviously he is ready to rule. And you two have been roommates for God knows how long so he is at least on friendly terms with you, and I view him as an ally. Finally, can we always join his court?

"I'm sure you will have a lot more freedom being the court wizard then the king. I know you like to meddle, explore, and cause chaos. If you were really king, you probably would not be able to leave the palace without guard protection."

"What would you be, a noble knight?" questioned Vlad rolling his eyes sarcastically.

"Yeah, probably!" Danny responds with a laugh.

"Hum… no. You're better suited as a jester? Or maybe the court wizard's apprentice?" Vlad says with a smile, pointing an accusatory index finger at him.

"Never" responded Danny mirroring Vlad's smile.

So, the two of them could be on good terms with one another. Maybe now is a good time to let my presence be known. I floated down between the two of them before turning visible.

"Ah! Sir Plasmius of Wisconsin, and young Prince Daniel. It's nice to see you two getting along."

"Prince?" Responded Danny with a smirk.

"Of Amity Park" I responded.

The child starts laughing, "It does not work like that…. but I'm flattered."

"Well, none the less I would want our kingdoms to be in alliance with each other."

"Hah- Definity!" Responds the boy, "My home is your home DK!" As he says that he snaps his fingers and points them at me.

"And my home is literally your home," responds Vlad with a snicker, "how long have you been standing there?"

"Long enough, don't ya know?" I responded.
