Chapter 4- A reveal
Willow was in school, sitting in class as Miss Ritter taught the students a bit more about the different parts of a plot, the acts, and why the building action was just as important as the climax in her book, since a climax wouldn't be half as effective if the build-up to it was done weakly or not at all.
And the climax did need to have some permanent consequence, or it was a pointless climax at the end of the day.
Willow noticed Peter was writing something on his notebook, and Gwen turned to look at him in concern too for a second before turning back to do her work.
Though how Peter's hands were moving, it did not look like he was writing, it looked a lot more like he was drawing something.
But what exactly would someone need to draw in an English Literature class? But then again, people behaved pretty unconventionally after losing loved ones, so it was not like she could think about it much.
Still, her rational brain was trying to rationalize and justify whatever Peter was doing, because she was concerned about him.
A while later, Willow was walking by when she accidentally bumped into Peter. "Sorry Peter."
"Its okay", Peter muttered, and that was when Willow saw his knuckles were reddish in color, shocking her.
"Peter, are you all right?" Willow asked, making the teenager turn to her.
"What?"
"Your knuckles", Willow gestured with her eyes. "They are-"
"Look, I appreciate the concern but I can take care of myself, please stop hounding me ma'am", Peter replied, not unpleasantly, but in a firm tone, and then he walked off, Willow sighing.
So he was getting into fights, it seemed.
"He seems pretty angry and depressed", Gwen said, walking next to Willow, looking sad. "Its understandable though. He was bullied a lot, and he loved his uncle."
"I know, losing loved ones, it's the hardest thing in the world", Willow told Gwen, Peter disappearing from their view. "But I hope he gets through this."
"Thank you for keeping an eye out for him, I appreciate it", Gwen said appreciatively, and Willow noted something in her tone. Something about Peter.
Aha!
She had a crush on Peter too.
But, in his current state, he probably wasn't in the mood for a relationship, poor guy.
"Okay, I have to go, see ya", Willow walked off as Gwen waved to her.
"Bye."
Willow wanted to scry for Peter to find out what he did during the night that made his knuckles reddened.
Okay, she did know he got into fights and all that, but he clearly needed a talking to, which would help him.
Then again, that'd mean she's using some moderate magic. But she wasn't doing it for herself, she was doing it for Peter, because she wanted to help him.
And considering how things seemed to stand, she had a feeling that she would have to reveal her magical powers to him. But then since he too had his own powers which he was trying to keep a secret (asides from when he had tried to humiliate Flash Thompson in that basketball game a while ago), he could take her secret.
Both of their secrets would be safe with the other, she reasoned to herself. So she could tell him and trust him, and he could trust her as well.
But not today, she had quite a bit of work from both her TA job and college, and she was going to study too, so no time to help Peter today, sadly. But she would definitely help Peter out soon, he was a good boy.
He just needed someone to guide him before he went too far.
Few days later, Willow was hearing reports of a vigilante on the news who caught criminals with rap sheets, and he seemed to wear what was a spandex with a mask.
Could it be Peter? He was the only one in this city with powers, to Willow's knowledge, so it had to be him, catching criminals due to what had happened to him.
Willow walked through an alley to go home when she heard a growl and turned as a Vampire grabbed her by the throat, baring its fangs at her, her heart jumping to her throat.
"You look tasty", it smacked its lips, about to bite her, when it gasped, looking down to see a stake in its chest.
Willow always carried a few just in case, and this was her first time in New York encountering a Vampire, but it wasn't a huge surprise considering what kind of creatures they were, and the fact that this was the big city.
The Vampire turned to dust, Willow sighing in relief. She had taken this one out without any magic at all, though to be fair, it had not expected her to carry a stake, much less use it to save herself.
But she had, and she was alive, while the Vampire was dust in an alley. Hopefully she could do this to all Vampires who jumped her in the big city, would save her a heap of trouble using magic for herself.
Yeah, now her mind considered her using magic for her own self-defense as using it selfishly too, and unless someone else really convinced her that was not the case, she would continue to believe it.
She was home now, and today she was pretty free, so time to do what needed to be done, and help Peter.
Putting a map of the city down on the table, Willow held up a crystal pendant over it and did a chant, as the crystal pendant started moving all over, trying to find Peter in the city.
After about two minutes, it finally pulled down on what was West 19th Street and Broadway, meaning Peter was somewhere close to there.
Well, time to find him and talk to him at last, and she hoped she could succeed in her mission. She did not have proper help during her problems (except some from Tara, but she had driven her away), so she was determined to help Peter in his time of need.
Packing some stuff, she walked out of the house, shutting the door behind her, determination in her eyes. For the first time since leaving Sunnydale, Willow felt she had a purpose, a mission to accomplish, mission in question in being helping someone who needed it.
In a parking lot, a man parked his car and walked off when another man arrived. As the man was gone, the other man used his skills to open the car and sat in, shutting the door behind him.
He started hotwiring the car when he heard a polite cough behind him, actually making him jump as he turned around to see Peter Parker in a red and blue athletic suit sitting there.
"Look, seriously, if you're gonna steal a car, don't dress as a car thief man", Peter shook his head in amusement.
"What the hell are you? Are you a cop?" The car thief asked, panicking now.
"Really? You seriously think I'm a cop? Cop in a skin-tight red-and-blue suit?" Peter asked, feeling offended. You know, you're... You've got a mind... of the true scholar, sir. I was going more for the guys who do the luge."
He fired a web, hitting his face as he tried to get the web off and opened the car door but Peter shut it with webbing. "And I've got a mind to take you to some church, you know, to confess to petty thievery, but well, I doubt you can take it, and I don't go to them anyway-"
The car thief opened the window as Peter said. " Good thinking. Get out the window." He fell out of the window. "There you go. You got it."
When the car thief got up, he saw no one inside the car.
He looked around, trying to find his adversary when he heard. "CROTCH!"
Peter leapt at him, wrapping his legs around his neck and flipped him down, making him fall down and roll away as both got up.
The thief then took a pointed knife out and said. " Just let me go."
"Is that a real knife?"
Peter asked very fearfully.
"Yes, it's a real knife."
Peter fearfully got down on his knees. "My weakness, it's small knives. Just let me go. Anything but... knives!"
The thief marched to him, only for Peter to suddenly fire a web, webbing his hand to the wall.
"Oh its so simple", Peter stood up, dropping the act. "That was cool."
"What the hell is this?" The thief asked, looking at his hand pinned to the wall via web.
"Webbing I developed myself", Peter said. "I don't think you wanna know the-"
"Come on, let me go!" He yelled, only for Peter to web up his other hand as he groaned.
Peter then acted like he was gonna sneeze. "Oh wait, wait-"
He did a sneezing motion and fired another web, hitting the thief's region as he yelled. "Let me go!"
Peter fired many more webs, webbing his entire body and laughed as the thief said. "This isn't funny!"
"It is kind of funny!" Peter laughed.
"HELP!" The thief yelled before Peter did a 'shush' motion and webbed up his mouth, shutting him up.
Now Peter turned serious, looking darkly at the thief, and grabbing his arm, pulled the sleeve down. No star tattoo! He wasn't the guy.
"This could've gone a lot worse", Peter said, then warned. "Now hold still." He loosened the web when sirens were heard, cop on a bike arriving.
"Boys in blue here", Peter turned to face him and gestured to the thief. "Yo, I got him."
"Freeze!" The cop warned.
"He's not going anywhere."
The cop aimed his gun now. "Don't move."
Peter was annoyed. "You serious?"
"Who are you?"
Peter groaned and ranted. "No one grasps the concept of the mask."
"Freeze!"
Peter didn't, and the cop fired 4 shots, only, Peter effortlessly dodged all in spite of the close distance. By some miracle, the thief at the back wasn't hit either.
Peter flipped and snatched the cop's gun, making him raise his hands. "I just did 80 percent of your job. And that? That's how you repay me?"
He threw the gun off as more cops arrived in cars.
"Hold it right there!"
Peter leapt and swung away to avoid the cops. They were going to chase him when there was a bright flash of light, blinding them temporarily, and when their eyes opened, Peter was gone.
Peter swung around the city, using his webs to swing on buildings, on bridges, run up vehicles, and stood on top of a building, looking down.
"Well, that was fun."
"So, this is what its about? Fun?"
Peter recognized the voice and turned to see Willow standing there. Shock gave way to silence, Willow just standing in front of him with folded arms.
"Uhhh…."
"I know its you, Peter, take the mask off", Willow said in a firm but gentle tone. "Please."
Peter sighed, realizing there was no point hiding it from her, and took off the mask to reveal his face. "Hello ma'am-"
"Call me Willow."
"All right, Willow, how did you know?"
"Come on, I saw what you did that day in the subway", Willow reminded Peter. "Then the basketball court, and after everything that happened, not that hard to put two and two together."
Peter looked at her, his face unreadable. "So, what are you gonna do?"
"Nothing, I just want to talk", Willow shrugged, surprising Peter. "What? You thought I'd tell the police or something? Nah, not my thing, considering I've done some illegal stuff too."
"Really? Didn't take you for the type."
"Don't judge a book by its cover", Willow smirked.
"Anyways, I don't think this is the ideal place to talk though", Peter pointed out to the redhead.
"I agree, so, why don't you come to my house? Here's the address", Willow handed it to Peter, who took it from her. "And don't miss out, okay? Or I'll corner you in school."
For whatever reason, that made Peter uncomfortable, killing any desire to miss out on this conversation he had. Willow walked off to the elevator and used it go down, leaving Peter considering.
Well, what could he do? She wasn't telling anyone, and she wanted to talk. He could that. Yep, he could talk to her.
Next chapter will be Willow and Peter finally talking, YAY! Since this film is only a little over 2 hours long, I'm comfortable doing short chapters to cover the whole thing.
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
