Finn and Rory made a plan to go to Disneyland the next day. Rory told Finn that as she asked him she would arrange it all. So she locked herself in her room with her laptop to plan. All she would tell him was to be ready for 6 am the next day.
The next day Rory and Finn met up in their sitting room. They had agreed to return to Edinburgh before continuing with their separate travel plans so they each only had a bag with 1 night's things contained in it.
Rory had arranged for a car to pick them up and take them to the airport, when the car diverted off to a private airstrip instead of the main airport terminal Finn looked at Rory questioningly.
"Yes Finn, do you have something to say?" She asked, knowing the answer already.
"I would have been happy to fly commercial love, you didn't have to do this."
"Maybe I didn't want to fly commercial mister." Rory said with a smirk as she exited the car and headed towards the plane. Finn followed behind her, just in time to hear the crew greet her.
"Miss Gilmore, wonderful to see you again, it's been awhile."
"You have definitely been holding out on me," Finn whispered to Rory once they were seated.
Rory looked at Finn and sighed. "Yes I have, and I promise before we get back to the states I will sit down and tell you all but for now, I want to continue to enjoy the stress free fun we have been having. Is that ok? I understand if you don't want to accompany me when you think I'm hiding nefarious secrets."
"Oh kitten," Finn started, he pulled her in for a hug. "I am thoroughly enjoying spending my time with you and you owe me no explanations. I am under no illusions that we, as adults who haven't seen each other in five years, half a decade, don't have secrets. Sure some may be bigger than others but I doubt any of your secrets are nefarious."
"Hey, I could be in a gang, booking this plane with drug money for all you know," retorted Rory while trying to keep a straight face before they both fell apart laughing.
They landed at a private air strip outside Paris and they were greeted by a car which took them to the New York Hotel at Disneyland. They checked in and followed the concierge up to the Art of Marvel Presidential suite.
"Rory you really didn't have to go to all this trouble" Finn said, a little shocked that it was Rory booking the extravagant room.
"This is as much for me as you buddy. We are sharing this suite and I love Marvel as well," she said while opening her carry on bag. She quickly found what she was looking for and handed the bag to Finn. "Here, go change and I will meet you back here in fifteen minutes." Rory ran off to the bathroom without giving him a chance to argue.
Fifteen minutes later and they were eyeing each other up in the main room of the suite. Finn was now wearing the iron man shirt Rory had got him with jeans and a pair of running shoes, he had an iron man hoodie that Rory had also gotten him, in his hand in case it gets cold.
Alternatively Rory was wearing a Captain Marvel t-shirt over jeans and she had a hoodie with baby Groot on the front in her backpack.
Finn wondered to himself, how does she manage to still look stunning in a comic t-shirt?
"Now Finn, it's time to tell you a secret, I am a giant Disney fan. Disneyworld is probably my favorite place to visit. So I have done the American version of a lot of the rides today. As you are a Disney virgin, I know not a word normally associated with yourself, tell me if you see anything at any point you really want to do that you think I will pass by. Hopefully by the end of the day you will share in my Disney love."
"I am wounded by your choice of words, hurt Rory, hurt. Now come on let's go see how this park compares," Finn replies as he latches onto her hand and leads her out of the hotel.
As they make their way to the park Rory looks over at Finn who has excitement on his face, she is glad to see that he doesn't seem to be faking enjoyment for her.
"They do have the option here of hiring a private tour guide and being able to skip all the lines and get better seats for any entertainment but I thought for today we would go old school and explore by ourselves if that works for you?" Rory asks hesitantly as she is honestly unsure what his opinion of the crowds and lines will be.
"Of course that's fine Rory, we are big boys and girls," he smirks with a wink "innuendo intended, and we can handle a theme park alone for a day."
"Okay well you have been warned in advance, anything that happens after the warning I accept no liability for," Rory laughingly retorts.
Once they get through the gates and are at the end of main street, Rory's hand is stopped by a tug. Finn has stopped dead to stare up at Sleeping Beauty's Castle.
"Kitten, we need to get a picture in front of the castle!"
"Sure Finn, we can do that when we get there," she says with amusement.
Next thing she knows he is tugging her into a store.
"We need ears!"
"What did you say Finn?"
"We need ears!" he repeats as he surveys the options on the wall. He finds a pair of blue glittery ears and hands them to Rory, while he can't decide between two pairs.
"Which pair, Love?" he asks, showing her a pair of classic black ears and a pair of marvel themed ears with Captain America's shield for ears.
"Oooh good choices, I think seeing as you are a first timer you should go classic black."
"Done!" Finn runs off to pay for both sets of ears before she can stop him.
Rory stands in front of the store, looking around her and soaking up the atmosphere, this is what she loves about Disneyland, the way the excitement is infectious. Her musings are interrupted by the feeling of something being pushed onto her head, she turns to see Finn, trying to adjust his own ears.
"Bend down, and let me," Rory says, as she adjusts his ears, she fights the urge to run her fingers through his hair, the joy on his face is intoxicating.
"Thanks Love,"
"No thank you for buying them, let's go get that picture before we start on the rides and end up messy." Rory states, dragging him towards the castle.
They find a cast member who happily agrees to take their picture in front of the castle, they pose hand in hand in front of the castle, as Rory starts to walk back to reclaim her phone. Finn says "one more!" and pulls her into his arms fully.
Rory looks up at him, and he stares down at her, they both have anticipation in their eyes, as each wonders what the other is thinking about, Rory watches as his eyes go from her eyes to her lips and she wonders if he is going to kiss her. Just as he starts to lean down, the cast member shouts "got it!" and they both jerk apart like they had been burned.
"So do you want ease in gently, or go big or go home?" Rory stutters out.
"Do you know me at all Kitten? Go big or go home!"
"This way then," Rory clasps his hand again and drags him off in the direction of Space Mountain. "Now I didn't get us a tour guide, but I did get us fastpasses which should cut down some of our queueing time today."
"That was amazing! We have got to do that again," Finn exclaimed as they emerged from Space Mountain.
"We can do repeat rides later, Finn, first we have to do them all once." she said laughing at the excitement shining on his face, he looked like a little kid, his excitement was adorable.
His excitement only continued as they worked their way around the park,Indiana Jones and the temple of peril led to Finn walking around pretending to crack a whip everywhere, Pirates of the Caribbean brought out his Captain Jack impressions, which had Rory falling over with laughter, the Phantom Manor had Rory clasping his arm tightly again in fear, Big Thunder Mountain had both of them screaming in joy, last but not least, the teacups had both of them giggling as they spun round and round.
As he seemed to love the Pirates of the Caribbean, Rory pulled him over to Captain Jacks Restaurant des Pirates for food, real food, as much as one tries they can't survive on cotton candy and mini churros alone.
"Kitten, this place is amazing," he said taking in the decor of the restaurant, "They really commit to a theme when they pick it don't they?"
"I'm really glad you are having fun Finn, I was really worried you would hate today and end up trying to humor me."
"No way, this has been awesome so far. I can't believe what I've been missing."
They continued around the park into the early evening, repeating rides, taking pictures with characters and sharing sugary snacks.
As it started to get dark Rory tugged Finn off to main street again.
"Finn, we need to get a good spot to watch the illuminations."
"Okay, you find us a spot, I'll go get us a snack, for while we wait, don't worry I will find you easily with your balloon friend." Finn had bought her a mickey shaped balloon earlier in the afternoon that was tied to her wrist.
As Finn walked off, he turned to give her one more look. She looked gorgeous, the jeans and tshirt showed off her figure, but the ears and the balloon tied to her wrist added an air of both mischief and innocence to her, while she had had joy shining out of her eyes all day today. He decided to take a detour on his way to get a pretzel.
He found Rory just as the illuminations were getting ready to begin.
"Here you go Love,"
"Long line up? I was beginning to worry you would miss the start," Rory said, turning to look at him.
"Yep, took forever," he said dismissively, while looking down at her. It was getting crowded now so he was standing behind her with her lightly encircled in his arms to protect her from people bumping into her.
"Want some?" she said, reaching the pretzel up to him, so he could take a bite.
"Thanks."
They were interrupted by the park darkening as music started to play and the lights started to appear on the castle. They watched the show both being mesmerized by the colours and animations being projected onto the buildings and sky around them.
"Wow," Rory said, "This is amazing,"
"Yes amazing love," Finn repeated into her ear.
Something in his tone made her glance up at him, and she realised he was watching her and not the lights.
"Finn," Rory whispered turning in his arms,
"Yes, Rory," he whispered back.
Rory looked up at him, then to his lips, then his eyes again, his eyes were shining bright with affection, joy, anticipation and apprehension. She raised herself on her toes and lightly brushed her lips against his. As she started to pull away shyly, he woke up and realized what was going on and he pulled her close and kissed her again. It started lightly again, then as they both began to participate it got more passionate. Just as she had opened her mouth to allow his tongue entrance, they were interrupted by a loud bang. They both pulled apart to realize the fireworks had begun.
"Wow," Finn whispered.
"Wow is right," Rory repeated. She turned again in his arms and leaned back into his chest watching the fireworks as his arms tightened around her.
