Finn and Rory had been back in New York City for a week. They had yet to have the opportunity to get together as they both had to do all the catch up work that was required after their vacations. They had both ensured that they made the time to contact the other everyday, whether it was by text, email or phone call.

It was Thursday night and Finn was meeting with Colin for a drink, Rory was in Boston for the night as she was needed in the office there on Thursday and Friday. Finn was missing her which was a strange sensation for him especially as it was unlikely he would have spent the evening with her anyway.

He was sitting in a booth at a bar in Manhattan waiting for Colin. He decided to send Rory a text to let her know he was missing her while he was waiting.

F: Waiting on Colin, hope you aren't working too hard. Still planning on being back in the city tomorrow?

He didn't have long to wait for her response.

R: Yes I'm still in the office, it might be a late night because I want to get back to NY tomorrow afternoon. I was hoping to see my boyfriend.

At this Finn grinned to himself, he had been hoping the same.

F: I'm sure your boyfriend is hoping to spend the weekend with you too.

R: Are you telling Colin about us, Finn?

F: I was planning on it, Kitten, unless you had any other thoughts.

R: It may be my insecurities talking, but would you mind waiting? I don't want to mess up your friendships, and then it not work out for some reason.

F: If that's what you want, kitten, then that's what we will do. But this will work if I have anything to do with it.

R: Thank you Finn x we can talk about it more over the weekend.

F: I'll just tell Colin I have a girlfriend for now. Can I take my girlfriend out on a date tomorrow night?

"Hey Finn," Colin said, dropping down into the booth across from him.

"Hey Colin, I didn't see you come in!" Finn said, "how are you mate?"

"I'm good, dad's been riding me at work, but that's nothing new. How was your trip? All fun, or some work involved?" Colin asked, while signaling the waitress that he wanted the same as Finn.

"What's up with your Dad?"

"He's been working a case against someone called Leigh Hayden, and they are younger than me so he keeps making comparisons between us, and using it to put the pressure on me."

Finn chuckled to himself with that, "That sucks mate. I did a few days work there, but also did some traveling for fun and got some sightseeing done."

"Sightseeing? That doesn't sound like you Finn?" Colin said, his disbelief obvious in his tone.

Finn's cell beeped, he checked the text from Rory before answering Colin.

R: I'd love to go on a date tomorrow night Finn.

Finn quickly replied,

F: I'll pick you up at seven Kitten, apparently Colin's dad has been complaining that Colin doesn't work as hard as one Leigh Hayden whoever that is lol x

"Well Colin, my girlfriend had a few places she wanted to visit, so we did it together." Finn said with a smirk watching closely for Colin's reaction.

Colin choked on his mouthful of scotch. "Girlfriend!? When did that happen?"

Finn took a slow sip of his scotch, "Yep, girlfriend. We met on the flight on the way to London, she was sitting beside me for the flight."

"And she's already your girlfriend? Must be some girl to achieve that. I don't think you have ever had a girlfriend in all the time I've known you."

"She's pretty amazing Colin," Finn was interrupted by his cell beeping again.

R: How much fun are you going to have with that information? He smirked.

F: Potentially a lot He quickly typed back.

"We had supper every night in London, travelled to Scotland and Ireland together."

"Sounds like a lot of time together quickly." Colin was still trying to recover from the shock.

"Well you know what it's like, with the right girl time flies. You have that with Steph."

"True, So when are we going to meet this amazing girl?"

"I don't know, you might scare her off. How's the wedding planning going?" Finn tried changing the subject, as much as he wanted to tell Colin, he couldn't go against Rory's request.

"Steph's mom is torturing her, but I think deep down she loves it. There are ten more months of this to go."

"It might not be too bad, the engagement party was fun."

"Another round gentlemen?" The waitress asked flirtatiously.

"Yes, please," Finn said without so much as a glance at the waitress.

"Wow Finn, this girl has definitely done a number on you already." Colin said after watching the interaction.

"Well she's special Colin, you will see when you meet her. It was time for me to settle down. You and Logan both are."

"I'm settling down because Steph won't wait any longer, Logan settled down because the Dark Lord demanded it, otherwise he would still be whoring all over the East Coast, you know that as well as I do."

"I'm settling down entirely by choice, no pressure here, I pressured her for a label." Finn said quietly.

"Seriously, you? Asked her for a label?"

"Yep, I wasn't letting her go."

"So if you met her on a flight to London, where does she live?"

"Here in New York,"

"And are you sure she isn't after you for your money?" Colin was openly suspicious by now.

"We haven't actually compared bank balances but I think she might actually have more money than me, based on what I know and from what I've seen of the two of her houses I've been in so far." Finn answered with a smirk.

"Two houses? Where?"

"A house in Dublin, and a penthouse in London with a rooftop terrace. I haven't been to her place in New York yet."

"Maybe you are with her for her bank balance then?"

"Maybe I am." Finn said, while laughing as his cell beeped on the table.

R: I finished earlier than I thought for the night I'm going to meet Paris for a drink. I'll call you when I get home tonight, if you are home by then.

F: I'll make sure I am, talking to you before bed is the best part of my day now.

"Well Finn, watching your face as you look at your phone, I can tell she's special. I've never seen you so happy to get a text." Colin conceded.

"Hey Paris. How are you?" Rory said, greeting Paris with a hug as she entered the bar. They always met at the same bar, a leftover from Med and Law school days. There was already a drink for her at the table.

"Gilmore, it's been a while."

"You know it's Hayden in Boston," Rory said, with a laugh. "Thanks for ordering for me. How's Doyle?"

"He's his normal self, you know Doyle. Still working for the Globe."

"I was shocked you weren't on call tonight, how are things at the hospital?"

"Good, still surrounded by incompetence but I manage." Paris said, as modest as ever.

"Well everyone can't be as perfect as you, Geller."

"It's Geller-McMaster." Paris corrected.

"I know Paris, I was your maid of honour."

"Well I felt obligated after all you did give us a place to live while I was in med school."

"That and I'm the only person who could put up with you both for that long."

"You loved it Gilmore."

"Yes Paris, I loved walking in on you and Doyle repeatedly, while you defiled my furniture over the years. Why do you think I gave you guys that couch when I moved out?" Rory answered with a laugh.

"Enough about that, how was Europe Gilmore?" Paris at least looked embarrassed by that statement.

"London was London, same as always, Edinburgh was great, Northern Ireland was an experience, and I finally made it to Disneyland Paris which was amazing."

"That's a lot more than you were originally planning on, what changed? And Disneyland again? When will you grow up?"

"I met someone, we travelled together."

"You went travelling with a stranger?! Gilmore! Did I teach you nothing over the years!" Paris's voice had raised a few octaves.

"It wasn't a stranger, it was someone I know but haven't seen in a while." Rory said, trying to reassure Paris while not letting slip who it was. The stooges had never been Paris' favourite people.

"Someone I know? Female, male?"

"It was a guy, Paris, we spent most of the trip together. He's my boyfriend now." resignedness slipping into Rory's tone. She was looking around the bar actively avoiding Paris' stern gaze, she signaled to the waitress they would like the same again.

"Boyfriend Rory, what do you even know about this guy?"

"Trust me Paris, I know lots, I know you're looking out for me and I appreciate that but this is one guy you don't need to protect me from."

"If you are so sure about that, what aren't you telling me?" Paris asked curiously.

"Nothing at all Paris, I just want to keep it to myself a bit longer in case it doesn't go where I think it's going."

"So you don't want me to be able to say I told you so if the opportunity arises."

"Sure Paris, that's it exactly." Rory said with a sigh, thinking something's never change.

R: I'm home now if you are.

Rory texts Finn while unlocking her front door, she figured that should give her enough time to get ready for bed before he would call. She locked the door behind her as she entered her house. Her brownstone in Boston was probably her most homely house, which was strange as she spent the least time there overall, but she loved it, she had lots of happy memories of Boston from her time at Harvard. Before she even started to get changed she heard her cell start to ring.

"Hey you, that was fast!" affection obvious in her tone.

"Well I may have already been in bed waiting on your text" Finn responded.

"You didn't have to wait for me."

"I wanted to Kitten, plus I knew you wouldn't be too late, it's a school night," he teased.

"I should hang up on you for that buster!"

"You wouldn't do that now, Love, don't be mean."

"Hang on a minute Finn, I'm going to put you on speaker, I need to get changed."

"You are such a tease! Do we need to switch to a video call for this part?" he can hear drawers opening and closing in the background now as she moves around the room.

"Dirty Finn!" she laughs while changing.

"I wish, Kitten, I wish."

"Okay, I'm in bed now, I can focus on you."

"KITTEN!" Finn shouts with a groan.

"Too much teasing? I really thought you could handle more, I'm just getting started." she giggles into the phone.

"Now before I get too distracted by the lovely images you are putting in my head, tomorrow night Kitten?"

"What about it?" Rory asks with confusion.

"Our date, have you forgotten already? How much did you and Paris have to drink?" he laughs down the phone.

"I only had two drinks, I want to go into the office early tomorrow, so I can fly home early in the afternoon. I remembered the date, that's why I knew I wanted to leave early tomorrow."

"Is seven o'clock good to pick you up? I don't even have your address."

"Yes Finn, seven sounds good unless my flight is delayed, but I will let you know if that happens. I can text you my address after we get off the phone, if that's ok with you?" Rory replied with a loud yawn.

"That works Kitten, I'd love to stay talking to you, but you sound exhausted and you need your rest if you want to keep up with me all weekend, so I should let you go to get some sleep."

"And what will we be doing that I need to keep up with you?"

"That innuendo was completely unintended for a change Rory."

"Oh Finn," she laughed. "I can't wait to see you tomorrow, I will take you up on that offer of sleep now though, I can barely keep my eyes open."

"Goodnight Kitten, get some sleep." Finn says quietly into the handset.

"Night Finn, see you tomorrow." Rory replied with a yawn, while ending the call. As she turns her lights off her cell beeps again.

F: Yep talking to you before bed, definitely my favourite part of the day. Sweet dreams xxx

Rory was still smiling as she fell asleep.
