"Ladies and Gentlemen. Thank you all for coming tonight to help celebrate my granddaughter's engagement. I have been watching this young couple as they grew closer, and worked their way towards this moment. In all my years on this earth, I have never seen a couple as well matched as these two, everything fell into place quickly for them, allowing them to build a strong foundation. I am sure that this foundation will help them as they take over the business world as they run their companies together. Just watching them together you can see the love and the strength of the bond between them. Please join me in congratulating Finnegan Thomas Morgan the third with his fiancee Lorelai Leigh 'Rory' Gilmore-Hayden the third."

"Did she say Lorelai Leigh Gilmore-Hayden?" Shira paled as she asked her husband, looking around as Rory and Finn made their way to the front. "Oh My God! She did! Mitchum, did you know that girl was a Hayden?"

"No, I had no idea." Mitchum said with a tight smile, he was aware of the many glances towards them. "We need to listen."

"Thank you Grandmother for that introduction, I have no idea how to respond to that."

"Yes, thank you Francine, you have rendered my lovely fiancee speechless, I think we all know how rare that is!"

"Hey!" Rory gave his arm a playful punch.

"What I believe Rory is trying to say is, thank you all for coming this evening. We appreciate everyone who is here to support us. As I'm sure you all know Rory and I reconnected at the beginning of last summer. I have never been so glad that we both chose to fly commercial for that trip. Rory came back into my life and quickly became the most important person in it. Rory, everything is better with you by my side. I love you." Finn said, giving his fiancee a quick society approved kiss.

"I'm still a little speechless here, I better get my voice back by Monday or Colin McCrae will have an easy day in court against me. As Finn said, thank you all for coming to celebrate with us tonight. And thank you especially to all the strong couples around us who have shown Finn and I how to do it, Grandma and Grandpa, Charlotte and Finnegan, Mom and Luke. If everyone would like to join us in a toast towards love. To quote George Sand - 'There is only one happiness in life: To love and to be loved.' Thank you Finn for filling my life with happiness." Rory gave Finn a longer than appropriate kiss while everyone toasted with champagne.

"Mitchum, we told a Hayden that they had no breeding and weren't good enough to associate with us." Shira hissed at her husband, trying to look casual.

"I know, I also know that I managed to tell one of the most successful young lawyers in the country right now that she would never amount to anything and would only be good to be an assistant." Mitchum replied.

"We need to act like we knew who she was all along. Let's get back to mingling, work towards Honor, see if she knew." Shira said, talking one more drink before starting to move again.

Meanwhile Logan had been frozen since Francine uttered the words Lorelai Leigh 'Rory' Gilmore-Hayden the third. Lorelai was positioned at the bar with her phone out capturing his reaction for Rory and Finn. The rest of the group knew this and were trying to maintain a clear shot for her. Logan woke up a little when Finn leaned over and kissed Rory, and by the time Rory leaned over and kissed Finn at the end of her speech, he was bright red and obviously struggling.

"Rory's a Hayden?" Summer asked.

"Finn is with Rory and no one bothered to tell me?" Logan hissed angrily, his hands balled into tight fists by his side.

"It wasn't our news to share," Colin started.

"Bullshit! What about the bro code? I should have been told, she was meant to be off limits."

"Logan she isn't your property, you had your chance and you messed it up. Rory and Finn are happy, this isn't about you." Stephanie tried.

"And what nonsense is this about her being a Hayden? And a Lawyer? Rory was going to be a journalist, I was in some of her classes at Yale, she was a journalism major not pre-law."

"She was always a Hayden, Huntzberger, come on you even met her father. You just assumed he was beneath you and never asked his last name." Paris retorted with a snort. "And yes, she did finish Yale with pre-law courses, you were even dating her when she sat the LSAT's and I was there when she told you she was taking them."

"What?! I don't remember that."

"Lo, baby, people are starting to look, you are making a scene," Summer tried to get her husband to calm down.

"Let them look, this is bullshit! Rory is mine!"

At this Summer looked her husband up and down, before marching away.

"Logan, listen to your wife, and maybe follow her. Rory is no one's property, you haven't seen her in nearly six years now, and even when she was your girlfriend you treated her like crap." Stephanie said, while Colin nodded beside her.

Logan looked around the group who were looking at him with a mixture of disgust and pity. He stormed off to go catch up with his wife.

While Rory and Finn were wading their way through the wellwishers at the party, Shira and Mitchum made it to where Honor and Josh were standing.

"Isn't this so exciting? All these revelations?" Honor gushed.

"Exciting? Mortifying you mean," Shira hissed at her daughter.

"Did you know?" Mitchum asked Honor.

"No, I had no idea about any of it. It does make sense, Rory always had a lot of poise and character, the way she seamlessly slipped into the DAR and knew who everyone was at any society party Logan dragged her to. We always assumed she just did her homework before attending, but it looks like she just was more blue blooded than we ever knew. I wonder why Logan never mentioned it, I know he met both her parents."

"If I find out that boy knew about this, and let her get away, we will be having words," Mitchum said.

"What does it matter now?" Honor asked, "Logan is married, and to someone of you and Mom's choosing. He is fulfilling the dynastic plan, and cheating his way through it."

"Honor! Don't talk about your brother like that, anyone could hear you," Shira hissed, looking around to see if anyone had heard Honors outburst.

"Jeez Mom, it's not like he's discreet. I think the only one who doesn't know is that wannabe socialite he married."

"Okay Honor, we will discuss this later," Mitchum started.

"Yes later, I'm going to congratulate Finn and Rory, come on Josh." Honor walked away, dragging her husband along by the hand.

"Rory!" Honor greeted her with a hug as she caught up to the couple.

"Honor, Josh. It's been a while." Rory replied after the embrace.

"Congratulations you pair, we're really happy for you," Honor gushed.

"Really?" Finn asked, "Not mad on your brother's behalf?"

"Nope, that idiot never deserved you Rory."

"Thank you Honor, that means a lot. How are your parents taking it? I saw you talking to them."

"The Dark Lord and his mistress will never be happy," Josh said in a rare fit of assertiveness, he didn't speak out often in groups, but when he did it was obvious what Honor saw in him.

"You both look very happy, how did this happen? I want to hear all about it."

"We were seated beside each other on a flight to London, both travelling alone and we ended up spending nearly everyday in London together, before travelling on to Scotland and Paris together. We got together as a couple in Paris and then travelled to Ireland for a week before coming home. Everything just fell into place quickly, even when we got back to New York, we discovered that our apartments are only a block away from each other." Finn said, looking at his fiancee adoringly.

"It sounds like it was meant to be. I can honestly say I have never seen either of you looking so happy," Honor said.

"Thank you Honor, that means a lot. I see my grandparents trying to get our attention so we have to go, but Honor don't be a stranger, keep in touch, I've missed you." Rory gave Honor a final quick hug goodbye.

"Hey," Rory said, as they walked up to the group containing both Gilmore grandparents, Francine, Lorelai, Luke and Chris. "How do you think it's going?"

"Everyone I have spoken to seems genuinely happy for you both," Richard started. Charlotte and Finnegan walked up to join the group.

"Does everyone know my Mother and Father?" Finn asked. "Charlotte and Finnegan Morgan, this is Richard and Emily Gilmore who I believe you already know, Francine Hayden and her son Chris, Rory's Dad, and last but definitely not least Lorelai and Luke Danes, Rory's Mom and stepfather."

"Good save there, exotic limo boy."

"Mom, it's been seven years, maybe it's time to call my fiance by his proper name."

"You don't mind do you limo boy?"

"Of course not, Mom, I can call you Mom now right?" Finn asked seriously, as the rest of the group laughed at the interaction.

"So did anyone manage to catch the Huntzbergers reactions?" Emily asked, almost rubbing her hands together in glee.

"We spoke to Honor, she was happy for us," Rory replied.

"I caught Logan and Summer's shock on camera, but I couldn't hear them," Lorelai spoke up.

"I was positioned behind Mitchum and Shira, as they have no idea who I am. There was a lot of angry hissing at each other going on," Chris said. "They seem to be mingling and trying to pretend they knew what was going on all along right now."

"Yes we were building up to going to talk to them," Finnegan said, "I'm not sure if I will be able to stay calm if they even attempt to speak ill of Rory though, you are already firmly part of our family."

"Thank you Finnegan," Rory replied, giving both him and Charlotte a tight hug, before rejoining her fiance. "I think we better go mingle again, I want to hear from Paris how it went."

"Yes the Gellar girl always has been outspoken," Emily retorted.

"Grandma!"

"But she has always been a good friend to you, Rory," she continued.

"Ok, we will see you all later," Finn said, leading his fiancee away.

Charlotte and Finnegan left the group at the same time and walked towards Shira and Mitchum.

"Shira, Mitchum, how good to see you again," Finnegan started.

"Charlotte, Finnegan, it has been a lovely evening, thank you for inviting us," Mitchum replied.

"No need to thank us. This was all Francine, we just had to show up tonight." Charlotte stated.

"Finn looks happy," Shira said, tightly.

"Yes, he has been like that since Rory and him got together. You should have seen them in Australia over the Holidays, they both looked like they would implode from happiness." Charlotte gushed.

"Oh Rory joined you for the holidays in Australia?" Mitchum asked.

"She flew out on boxing day and stayed until after the New Year, Finn proposed to her while they were out there. So we were the first to find out, it was a great way to start the new year," Finnegan said.

"Yes Rory is a wonderful addition to the family," Charlotte continued. "But obviously I don't need to tell you that, you knew her well when she was younger."

"Yes, she is a delightful girl," Shira said, visibly trying to hide her discomfort at the conversation.

"Young woman, you mean Shira, well Logan's loss is Finn's gain. How are Logan and Summer, is it? We saw them earlier but never got the opportunity to say hello," Finnegan said, well aware that he was taunting them.

"Logan and Summer are very happy, hopefully we will hear the sound of little feet at some point this year," Mitchum said.

"I'm sure grandchildren would be such a blessing for you both. We need to go, I see Olivia trying to capture our attention, she is with the Du Greys, we haven't had a chance to speak to them yet this evening." Charlotte said.

"Yes, hopefully we will see you again soon," Shira said.

"Yes of course, I'm sure we will be around more, helping the kids with the wedding planning. Enjoy the rest of your evening." Finnegan said, leading his wife away from the other couple. "Shira was really struggling to hold back there, I'd love to know what she will say when she isn't in company," he whispered to his wife as they walked away.

"I see you survived," Colin said to Rory and Finn as they joined the group of younger couples, it was the same group as earlier with the addition of Olivia.

"Yes, it was quite the ordeal, pretending to be madly in love with this one," Finn joked, pulling Rory tightly into his arms, now the party was starting to die down, they didn't have to care as much about society etiquette.

"Hey! I'll remember you said that later buddy." Rory said, nudging him in the stomach with her elbow.

"So how was your front row seat to Logan's reaction?" Olivia asked.

"The idiot froze the second you both appeared," Paris started.

"Then he got angry and indignant that none of us had told him," Stephanie continued.

"I was actually feeling sorry for Summer by the end," Louise stated. "He kept talking about the bro code and how you were his."

"Yes, he said you couldn't be a Hayden or a lawyer," said Colin.

"But Paris quickly jumped in and pointed out how she was even there when you told him you were sitting the LSAT's." Tristan added.

"Overall, it was quite entertaining from an outsider's perspective," Doyle said.

"Yes, but I don't think that will be the last of it, I'd bet on you hearing from an angry Logan soon," Colin warned.

"We can handle him, can't we, Kitten?" Finn looked down at his fiancee encircled in his arms.

"Of course we can, and if we really can't, I think we might know a few lawyers who can get us a restraining order," Rory joked, looking at the group as they laughed and Finn kissed her cheek. They both knew that the fallout from Logan was far from over, but looking around at their group of friends and family, they knew they would get through it all, they were strong enough to handle anything Logan threw at them.

A/n Yes I went believable instead of outlandish drama, but that doesn't mean it's the last we have heard of the Huntzbergers.
