Rory and Finn, were standing outside the house on the Upper West Side, they had just finished the tour with the broker and they both knew what they individually thought they should do but had yet to discuss it, to check if they were on the same page.

"We will give you a call tomorrow when we make a decision, is that ok Ryan?" Rory asked.

"Yes that is fine, I will be around all day, and as I said this house doesn't officially hit the market until Monday so no one else has or will see it until then. You currently have no competition if you decide to go for it."

"We will talk to you tomorrow Ryan, have a good evening," Finn said, dismissing the broker as he and Rory turned to walk towards their apartments.

"We probably need to head towards Hartford now. Do we want to drive or bring a driver?" Rory asked.

"I want to be able to talk openly, and I know you will need to escape at some point so I say we drive?"

"Ok, you can drive, it's been a long week." Rory said tiredly.

"We don't need to see anyone until brunch tomorrow, do you want to go tonight and spend the night in Stars Hollow, or do you want to have a movie night in your apartment, and then drive down in the morning? You are burning out Kitten, and I just want to do whichever you think will re-energize you quicker." Finn said, his arm wrapped tightly around his fiancee's waist as they walked.

"I think I want to just stay home tonight, I think we both know my mom will be too full of questions if we are in Stars Hollow, between the wedding and house hunting, she would have too many things to ask about."

"I think so too, let's get you into a bath to relax and some warm pjs with food for a movie." Finn said, leading Rory into the lobby of her building, nodding at the doorman.

Rory came out of the bath feeling much more relaxed and alive. Finn had been right; she needed that relaxation.

"Finn?" Rory shouted, looking for him as she shrugged into her pyjamas that he had set out for. Fleecy minnie mouse pants and a Yale t-shirt that smelled like him, as it fell to her knees, she realised he had set out his one for her, instead of one of her own.

"In here, Kitten." He shouted from her theatre room. He had been right on his first visit that she loved movies too much to not have a tv. Instead she had a separate theatre room set up with a projector and several oversize couches and bean bag chairs and pillows. It had its own fridge and pantry set up in the corner, for drinks and candy.

Rory walked in to find Finn had made himself comfortable. He had his pyjamas on groot pants and a thor t-shirt. There was pizza in front of him and all of Rory's favourite candies, he had set out beer, wine and soda.

"I figured you need to relax but I wasn't sure if you wanted to share a bottle of wine, have a beer or just have a coke? I'm thinking wine but I didn't want to assume."

"You're right, I'd love a glass of white wine with my pizza, thank you Finn." Rory leaned over and gave him a kiss, before sitting down to get some pizza and wine.

"Thanks for what Kitten?" Finn asked.

"For knowing exactly what I need, no one else has ever been able to predict my needs and wants like you do. You're a part of me and sometimes it's like you're in my head and can tell what I'm thinking."

"Pretty sure that's why we are engaged. You are my other half, my job is to anticipate your needs and help you with them if I can, and if I can't, find a way to make them happen." Finn shrugged and took a bite of pizza, as though what he said was nothing at all.

"You are amazing," Rory said, setting her plate down and sliding across the couch to give him a kiss. "It's very sexy when you talk about meeting my needs like that."

"Is it indeed?" Finn asked, his voice going husky with want.

"Yep, I might need those needs sorted out later," Rory said, kissing her way along his jaw before sliding back to her corner of the couch.

"You tease."

"You love it," she replied, sticking her tongue out at him.

"So about the house?" Finn started. "What did you think?"

"I loved it, it was even better in person, that library, the master bedroom, that bathroom! The things we could do in that shower!" Rory finished with a pointed eyebrow arch at Finn.

"I agree, the kitchen was gourmet even though neither of us really cook, and that rooftop was amazing."

"So I'd like to put an offer in, what do you think?" Rory asked hesitantly.

"Like a conditional on the pending sale of our apartments, kind of offer?"

"Like an outright have the cash available offer," Rory replied sheepishly. Discussing finances always made her feel awkward.

"You can do that?" Finn asked.

"Yes," Rory was watching him carefully for his reaction.

"Okay, Do we want to do this fifty/fifty or what? It's thirty million dollars Rory, I can't let you pay that by yourself. I probably have five-ish available now, then I don't know what my penthouse would sell for maybe 4million? The rest is tied up in investments, and the last of my trust gets released next year when I turn thirty." Finn was pacing now.

"I can afford to buy it by myself but if that makes you uncomfortable we can do it whichever way makes you comfortable. I understand it may make you uncomfortable. All my trusts are released already, I already have all of the Hayden inheritance, everything became mine when Grandpa Straub passed. Grandmother just has right of survivorship on the house, so she can live there until she passes. Not that I would ever take it from her." Rory was hesitant watching him continue to pace the theatre room. "Is this a problem?"

Finn dropped down on the couch beside her and pulled her into his arms. "Sorry, I guess I never really thought about our finances because we just never had to, you know?"

"Yep, I understand," Rory said, kissing his cheek.

"We should just pull the band aid off the finance thing, and get it over and done with now?" Finn asked.

"Okay, Do you want me to go first?" Rory asked.

"I'll maybe go first, I think your numbers might shock me into silence. I have probably thirty million of my own right now, the New York apartment and the Sydney apartment, another ten million is released from my trust when I turn thirty. Eventually I will inherit the Hartford house, the full business and the 2 houses in Australia. So about three hundred million eventually, I think that is what they estimated at my trust meeting at twenty five."

"Well I have the apartment here, the house in Boston, the apartment in London, the house in Dublin, an estate near Galway, an estate near York, the Hayden estate in Hartford, and I will eventually inherit the Gilmore estate in Hartford, and the Gilmore compound on the Cape. I already own the Hayden firm, and I am the majority shareholder of Gilmore insurance. All of my trusts were released at twenty five." Rory took a breath, looking at Finn who was watching her and listening carefully to her from his position under her, as she had worked her way onto his lap.

"Technically Finn, I'm a billionaire." Rory rushed the sentence out in one breath.

Finn took a deep breath at that, before looking up at his fiance. She was pale and shaky, watching him carefully, and at that moment he realised she was scared. Scared that this would make a difference to how he felt about her and treated her. He tightened his grip on her hips.

"Rory, Kitten," he gave her lips a gentle kiss. "None of this changes how I feel about you, I promise you that. Do you believe me?"

"I think so." Rory said, her skepticism obvious in her tone.

"It just makes me realise we need a prenup in place, and a good agreement regarding how to pay for the house. I want to protect you and that means showing you that I don't want you for your money or property."

"Finn, I'm saying this as me, not as lawyer me, ok?" Rory bit her lip before taking another breath. "I'd like to have the prenup just separate the businesses, but all the rest of the finances become joint. We have so much money, we will never want for anything, neither of us are extremely extravagant and I just don't see why we should make it a problem. I might be being a bit idealistic here, but I honestly can't see any circumstances where this ends. Everytime I think of the future you are there, right beside me holding my hand and supporting me, me, you and a couple of kids." Rory rambled out.

Finn pulled Rory down towards him, and gave her a tender kiss, while holding tight like he would never let her go, trying to convey all his feelings in that one kiss.

"Rory, I'm in uncharted territory here. We spend our lives being told to watch out for gold diggers, and people who were only using us, so to find myself suddenly in the position where I look like I'm the gold digger is strange. I will do whatever you feel comfortable with. I trust you. You draw up an agreement and I'll sign it blindly. You are my future, I want everything with you and I don't see that ever changing. I'm stronger when you are beside me, you ground me, and make everything better."

"So I guess the conclusion to all this is that we are buying that house?" Rory asked, nuzzling his jaw.

"Yep," Finn kissed her forehead, "I think it could be a good forever home, it even has an elevator for when we are old, or when you are pregnant." Finn looked at her tenderly, biting his lip, his face was conveying how much he loved that thought.

"Hold that thought for a year or two buddy." Rory said, shaking her finger at him.

"We will just have to have a lot of fun practicing until then," Finn said, kissing her and rolling them, so she was under him on the couch. "In fact I think this is a perfect opportunity to practice." he captured her giggle with his lips, silencing her for the evening apart from whispered declarations of lust and love.

The next morning they were driving towards Hartford in Finn's Audi r8, they had got starbucks coffee, and pain au chocolats to tide them over until brunch.

"You better not get crumbs all over my car." Finn teased watching as Rory tried to carefully eat the flakey pastry as he sped down the highway.

"Sometimes I think you love this car more than me," Rory said, rolling her eyes.

"It's a pretty close competition but your breasts make you come out on top," Finn said with a playful leer at his other half.

"So moving on, are we both agreed on what we are telling the wedding hijackers?"

"Yes, I think your idea is perfect. I never pictured a big society wedding unless I was forced into it, and I know it is your idea of hell. Our plan kind of mixes both together, it has our individuality but I think it has enough sophistication that the elders will accept it."

"Really we are only worried about Grandma Emily, and Grandmother Francine, both of our moms will do whatever we want I think." Rory said, looking out the window as they approached Hartford Country Club.

"It's okay, I've got your back," Finn said, giving her a kiss before getting out of the car. He helped Rory out and handed the keys to the valet. "Be careful with her," he said, tipping the young man.

They walked into the club hand and hand, as they walked around the corner Finn kissed Rory on the cheek and whispered into her ear. "As soon as we are finished here, I'm going to take you home and devour you until you beg me for mercy." He gave her ear lobe a quick tug with his teeth.

Rory giggled, "Only you could think putting that thought in my head before this would help."

"Believe me, the idea of you squirming under me begging, will definitely help me get through this brunch." Finn said with a final kiss to her cheek.

That was how they appeared to their family as they rounded the corner. The elders first sight of the couple was of Finn kissing her cheek, and Rory giggling in joy. It showed them all that this was going to be a good match.

Finn pulled out Rory's chair and helped her sit before, going round the table greeting each of the ladies with a kiss on the cheek and then folding himself into his seat beside Rory, gently taking her hand in his own.

"Good Morning Ladies," Finn charmed them.

"Good Morning Finn, Rory," they all returned.

"Shall we order before we start?" Rory asked. "I'm hungry after the drive."

"Finn, didn't you feed her today?" Lorelai asked, shocked.

"Of course I did Lorelai, the crumbs all over my car prove it." Finn responded, feigning offence.

"He did provide coffee and food for the drive, but it's time for proper food," Rory said, as the waitress appeared with coffee for them all.

Once the group ordered Emily took advantage of the gap in conversation and started, "So Rory have you thought about what kind of wedding you would like or time of year? Obviously it is not possible to do a spring wedding this year but we could do a spring wedding next year, it would give us ample opportunity to plan it. A wedding of this stature will take some time to plan."

Rory looked at Finn, and he squeezed her hand. A move that wasn't missed by Lorelai and Charlotte who shared a look. They knew that meant whatever Rory was about to say was unlikely to go down well with Emily and Francine.

"Grandma, we have found a venue that we would like to have the wedding at, and it's available in the fall."

"Eighteen months, that's a perfect amount of time to plan," Emily rambled on.

"We were thinking of October this year Grandma, so roughly seven months."

"Oh no, it can't be done Rory, Lorelai talk some sense into the girl."

'Emily if I may, we have already contacted the venue, they are available for the date we want, and are currently holding it for us, we have also spoken to an officiant that we like who is available on our date. Everything else is semantics. Realistically we have the funds available to rush everything else we might need or have issues with. Which as far as I can see would only be the wedding dress?" Finn said, looking at Rory to confirm that his sentence was correct.

"Yes, the wedding dress is the only thing that would take time as they can take from four to nine months, but I can pay extra for rush service if I end up needing to. Who knows I might fall in love with a dress that's off the rack."

At that sentence both Francine and Emily had a sharp intake of breath. Trying to head off the next confrontation Charlotte spoke.

"So where is this venue? I notice you both have avoided even saying which country it is in."

"New York," Finn replied. He rubbed his thumb across the back of Rory's hand gently.

"We want to get married at the New York Public Library. We can rent the entire venue so it is closed to the public, have the ceremony and the reception all in the same place. It's so beautiful. We have seen pictures from previous weddings held there and it is amazing when it is set up for a ceremony." Rory rambled out quickly.

"What? No church? What about the Rose room here at the club?" Emily asked in shock.

Francine had been watching Rory and Finn carefully since they entered the room, she had seen how Rory's eyes lit up as she described the library.

"Emily, I think we should take a day and travel to New York and look, let's at least give the venue a chance." Francine spoke.

"If you came to the city Grandma, I could try and arrange some appointments to go dress shopping, and to meet the event coordinator at the library." Rory said, an almost pleading tone.

"We could all go dress shopping Mom, I'm sure Charlotte and Francine would love to go as well," Lorelai spoke up.

"Okay I'll give it a chance," Emily said, "But if it is horribly unsuitable, I reserve the right to suggest elsewhere."

"Grandma, Finn and I have talked about this extensively. We would really love to get married in the building that holds all the great love stories, as we want our love story to be a great one." Rory was staring deep into Finn's eyes as she finished her sentence, and he leaned over to kiss her, tenderly in a club approved manner.

That argument was enough to loosen the resolve of all the elders at the table, because really what kind of argument would beat that. They spent the rest of the morning arranging a shopping trip, discussing flowers and possible attendants.

Unbeknown to them the group was being observed from across the room by all the Huntzberger women, who had been having a casual brunch when the other group arrived. The three ladies all had very different thoughts while watching the family across the room. Honor was honestly happy for them, watching how they all interacted, even from her position you could see the love radiating from them.

Summer was watching jealously, she could also see the love between them. She didn't understand what Rory had that she didn't. Summer wasn't as dumb as everyone thought, she wasn't naive enough to not know Logan was cheating on her. All she wanted was a husband who loved her.

Shira was still indignant that she had been so close to becoming part of that group. The Hayden's were at the top of the social food chain. Logan had thrown it all away, had dug them a hole, and she knew that society was laughing at them. She had been wracking her mind since the engagement party trying to think of a way to recover from the situation, even considering getting Logan to divorce Summer and try to get Rory back. But watching the group across the room she could see that the young couple were strong and united, they looked happy and in love, in a way that one didn't see often. It was enough to melt even the black heart of Shira Huntzberger.
