"Am I doing this right?" Eri asks.
A White haired little girl with a horn on the side of her head sits on the dirt. The dirt field stretches on for 231 acres, and it is surrounded by tall trees. The small girl has a witchy hat on her head and her pupils bright red. she has her hands cupped around a dead plant.
Today Eri will perform her first growth spell.
"Yes, just like that sweetie," a smiling blue-haired Nejire says.
Nejire had the appearance of a seventeen your old girl and has a witch hat just like Eri- though her hat swirls and curls at the top end. The yellow fabric on it also does the same.
"This is very simple Eri," Nejire says, "Reviving the plants will bring us food for a little while. To revive it, you'll be reversing its state of death,"
Eri gulped. Would that be too much for her?
"I can do it if you don't think you can," Nejire gibs.
"N-no!" Eri says confidently, "I can do it!"
Nejire smiles again and looks down at the plant, "Ok then...close your eyes...and imagine the plant coming back to life. Remember to also believe in yourself too,"
Eri nods and closes her eyes. She's practiced her magic before, and now it will finally be put to good use. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. She thinks about how happy it would make Nejire and Mr. Pumpkin if she could make food grow.
She smiled at this thought. As she smiled, her hands glowed a golden light.
"Amazing!" she heard Nejire praise.
Eri opens her eyes and is thrown back with surprise. The once dead plant was now a tall cornstalk!
"Wow!" Eri said in bewilderment, "I did that...?"
"Yes, you did!" Nejire confirms beaming, "And at such a young age too!"
Eri managed to create food...at just 6 years old.
Nejire wrapped her arms around Eri and hugged her tightly, "I'm so proud of you Eri...I'm so proud! Now you can do more things with your magic...and make us a farm!"
Eri hugged her back, feeling pride in her amazing work. She loved to make her sister Nejire happy.
"I'm back." A male voice says.
"Pumpkin!!"Eri says happily, breaking away from Nejire's hug. The little girl ran across the dirt field to a tall boy with a dear slung across his shoulders
The boy was wearing a beige cloak making his with boots the only thing visible. He had a color made of hay like a scarecrow, and wide open sleeves.
His half orange and half black jack-o-lantern head added to this look.
"Eri," he said in a monotone voice, "Don't run too fast or you'll trip,"
Eri ignored this and hugged him. Though she was so short, she only hugged his knees. The pumpkin boy's jack-o-lantern head was an ever-carved smile, so the little girl could never really know what he was feeling. She liked to assume he was happy with her hugs though.
Eri let go of her towering friend and gazed up at the der on his shoulder. The dear was still alive but had its legs tied together on both ends.
"Wow!" Eri cried amazed, with a big smile, "The dear looks cute!! How did you get it?"
"I caught it," The pumpkin boy responded, "I thought we could have a feast tonight,"
"Yay!" Eri cheered.
Eri talked to the pumpkin boy about all that happned while he was gone. She was chattting away, Nejire walked towards the too, her usual smile gone. Nejire was tall, but the pumpkin boy was still a foot taller.
"Do you really plan to hurt an innocent dear?" Nejire questions.
Eri stops chating and looks up at Nejire. But Nejire isnt looking at the white-haired girl. She was looking up at the pumpkin boy's jackolantern head.
"We need to eat somehow," The pumpkin boy retorts. Even though his eyes werent visble, Eri could tell he was looking at Nejire too.
"Eri grew corn for us actually," Nejire says pointing to the cornstalk, "We don't need to hurt any innocent animals for food,"
"You can't live soley off of berries for the rest of your life,"
"Vegetables can bring her nutrtion-"
"She needs protein-"
"Let's have both!" Eri suggested, raising her voice over the both of them.
Nejire and the pumpkin boy looked down at Eri, "We can eat the corn and Hado can make her famous vegtable stew. Not only that, but Pumpkin can cook the dear! We can all eat something we want for dinner!"
Eri threw her arms up with a smile, proud of her sef for making a soultion. Nejire opned her mouth to explain why they can't eat the dear-
"That's a great idea Eri," the pumpkin boy praises bending down to her level. He pats her on the head and she smiles.
Eri has a determined smile on her face and points to him, "Since I did another great thing today, you have to give me my reward!"
"Hm?" the pumpkin asks.
"Tell me your name today! pleeeease?"
"My name..." the pumpkin boy says to himself, "It's-"
"Hey, Eri," Nejire says the little girl, "Can you go gather some berries by the meadow? As a treat for dinner tonight?"
Eri looks up at Nejire for a split second before the pumkin boy answers the question.
"It's Mr. Pumpkin."
Eri smiles brightly, then runs off to complete her task, leaving Nejire and Todoroki in the dirt field. Last time his name was just Pumpkin. Now it's Mr.Pumpkin. At this rate, she'll surely get his real name out of him!"I thought I told you I dont you hunting anymore," Nejire pressed.
Nejire sent Eri away so she would have a chance to talk to the Fire and Ice wizard. She didn't approve of the exposure to animal cruelty he's constantly exposing to Eri. The girl was surely terrified of all of this, and she didn't want her to be traumatized!
"She's a growing girl who needs to eat," The wizard replies, walking away with the deer, "I thought you'd like her idea of splitting the meal two ways,"
Nejire could feel blood rushing cheeks as her anger rose. But she took a deep breath, and walked after him, "It's because she's a growing girl I don't want her to have thoughts of dead animals. I wan't her to have a clear mind of only bunnies and rainbows-"
"And spells," The wizard adds, "So she only focuses on being a witch,"
"That's not true!"
"But it is."
"I only want what's best for her! I just want her to grow up with happiness...you know she's already been through alot,"
"I know...that's exactly the reason why there is no point in sugar coating everything. 'bunnies' and 'rainbows life' isnt an option for her,"
"So does that mean her life needs to be grimm and dark? That you need to kill inoccent creatures infront of her of all people!?"
"I'm not killing in front of her-"
"But you still brought it here alive-why?"
"Because..."
"Because you just wanna push my buttons right? You knew i wouldn't like something like this- so that I'd look bad in front of her-!"
"Nejire, you're not listening. It's easier to butcher the deer here where it's brighter than the dark trees. I don't want to turn Eri against you, I don't want her turned against any of us. Though I'm sure you don't belive me when I say this-"
"Say what-?"
"That you don't like me around Eri."
The sky was cloudy, and a chill breeze blew past them. The wizard had finally stopped in his tracks and gazed down at Nejire. Nejire didn't react to the wizard'comment, and hed her stern glare.
"...I know the only reason you allow my presence..." The wizard says turning away, "Is because she cares for me deeply. But I care for her too...and I'll do anything to keep her safe and happy...so I ask you to let me stay for a little longer"
Nejire hesitated, but nodded.
