Argent House
"N-no," Allison breathed with a trembling voice, but she wasn't aware. "N-no."
It was only one word, but everyone felt the anguish behind it, as tears built up in Allison's eyes before spilling out down her cheeks with a blink, her body unnaturally still, although it appeared she was struggling to breathe.
"H-He can't," Allison choked out. "He can't be... He can't! We - we have (She stressed 'have'.) to finish high school, and - and stay together, and go to college, and get jobs, and - and..."
Chris moved to hold her, his heart breaking.
"Don't touch me!" Allison recoiled with a scream that pierced even the deputies' hearts, her body now shaking.
Chris couldn't help the tear that fell from his eye without warning, having recoiled, himself, at her recoil and scream.
"Allison," Victoria tried.
"Don't you dare (She stressed) talk to me!" Allison practically spat out, disgust in her voice and every inch of her body, shocking everyone, and moved outside the house so that she had everyone in her line of sight. "Where is Scott?"
She directed the question to the deputies, wiping away her tears furiously.
"Allison, his body..." Deputy Clarke began to answer.
"Where is Scott?!" Allison stressed the name.
The Deputy looked at Chris and Victoria, silently asking for permission, and they both nodded after sharing a look.
"He was just transferred to Beacon Hills Memorial," She finally answered. "But no one is allowed to see him yet."
"Why?"
Deputy Clarke looked at her partner.
"Might as well tell her," Deputy Haigh said. "I'm sure the local news already knows and will report it tonight."
"Scott was found in a walk-in freezer at the rave warehouse," Deputy Clarke revealed, and Allison's heart sank. "The employees didn't check the walk-in freezer throughout the week because the warehouse is a crime scene and there wasn't much in it to..."
"There wasn't much in it?" Allison didn't like that, at all, voice dangerously low, hands clenched. "Scott wasn't much? Just another were...?"
"That's enough, Allison!" Victoria quickly interrupted, getting out of the house, and approached Allison who moved away from her until Victoria stopped. "You're making a scene. Go to your room."
"Or what?" Allison challenged, stunning everyone, especially Victoria.
"Allison, listen to your mother," Chris interjected, knowing Victoria was likely to say something that would make everything worse. "Go to your room."
Allison looked at him like she was about to challenge him too, but thought better of it, instead, she looked at the deputies.
"You're working on Scott's case, aren't you?" She asked, suddenly adopting a calm expression, body relaxing.
"Yes," Deputy Clarke answered, wondering why she asked when she already told her that.
"Then you won't mind giving me your numbers, would you? In case I have new information."
"Uhh, no," Deputy Clarke replied, feeling like something was going on, but she couldn't figure it out. "I wouldn't mind."
She took out a contact card made for this very situation and gave it to Allison who accepted it, thanked her, looked at her parents like she was saying 'checkmate', and then walked past Victoria into the house.
"Wait!" Deputy Clarke stopped Allison, just remembering what brought them there in the first place. "This is why we asked if Scott had anything to apologize for."
She took out an envelope from her jacket and gave it to Allison.
"What is it?" Allison asked, looking at the envelope but not opening it yet.
"Scott's last words to you," Deputy Clarke said. "I'm sorry for your loss."
With that said, the deputies turned around and headed for their car.
Deputy Clarke's parting words hit Allison hard, and eroding her defiance and brought back her tears.
She hugged the envelope tight and close to her chest before running into the house, and headed straight for her bedroom.
"What did you do, Victoria?" Chris asked, looking inside the house.
"I did what I had to do," Victoria answered with conviction she didn't feel. "Don't you see the damage Scott did to Allison? The negative influence he had on her? She almost revealed something bigger than her and Scott in his defense.
And didn't you hear her? They planned to finish high school and stay together, go to college and get jobs. What does that tell you about how far they took their relationship?"
Chris looked at her sharply, hand unconsciously moving towards his gun, but it wasn't on him.
"You don't mean...?" He asked, but didn't finish.
"They were having sex," Victoria said what he couldn't say. "Like rabbits. Scott's mother came to see me, and she told me that they were still seeing each other, and a lot more. I didn't want to believe it, but I saw them in a classroom later, and you can't imagine what I heard and saw.
Scott had Allison wrapped around his little disgusting werewolf finger. She went to that party with Matt because Scott told her to, he even had the nerve to tell her to kiss that boy."
"He did what?" Chris' questioned, a murderous look entering his eyes.
"You saw that Allison would do anything for Scott," Victoria responded. "Even reveal the supernatural. Your way didn't work, Chris. Your threats didn't work, they didn't have the desired reaction from Allison and Scott. Scott probably used them to manipulate Allison.
There was only one way to get Scott out of our daughter's life for good. I did what I never thought I would ever do for her. Can you imagine how the others would have reacted if we allowed a werewolf to do as it pleased with our daughter? Gerard may have been fooled by Scott and liked him, but..."
"He wasn't fooled," Chris said, and closed the front door. "Let's take a walk."
Victoria raised an eyebrow at that, but followed Chris away from the house.
"The night the kanima didn't do anything to Gerard, I thought I saw Isaac tackle it, but it was Scott," Chris revealed. "I had a concussion from the kanima throwing me into a wall, but my memories became clear when Gerard suddenly had a change of heart when one of the men told us Derek's pack had the kanima trapped and paralyzed.
When he suggested that we interrogate it to find out who its master was, I remembered the strange way he looked at it and the odd moment he had with Scott. I also remembered what he always says is the best way to eliminate a threat."
"Get someone else to do it for you," Victoria said, eyes scanning their surroundings.
"Yes. And the kanima was the perfect weapon for someone like Gerard, especially after he declared war against local werewolves."
"You killed it to stop whatever he had planned," Victoria realized, she was impressed.
"And you took off another pawn from his chessboard by killing Scott," Chris added.
Victoria suddenly stopped, having another realization.
"If Scott was Gerard's pawn, what are the chances that Gerard manipulated Allison through Scott?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
The husband and wife looked toward their house, shared a look and quickly headed back.
