Gargoyles and Sweets
August 20, 1993
Orsr stood in front of the gargoyle statue, admiring it if he was being truthful. This statue, compared to the hideous guardians of the vampires of Volkihar Castle, was golden and stunning. And apparently, if you said the right words the thing could move.
"Go ahead and say the words Mr. Bloodskal.", the professor known as McGonagall said to the foreign boy.
"Of course, sorry... Uh, 'sherbet lemon'?", the boy asked the statue, hoping his pronunciation was correct. As soon as the words left his mouth the statue moved to reveal a winding staircase to somewhere, which disappointed the boy somewhat.
"Is there a problem, my boy?", the kind transfiguration teacher asked the child.
"No ma'am, but... when I was told it moved I expected it to come alive.", the child answered honestly. The woman smiled and directed the mysterious child up the stairs to see the headmaster.
The office, in Orsr's mind, was spacious but a bit disorganized. It reminded him of Farengar's study a bit if he was being honest. Looking around he saw parchment and books scattered on tables, desks, and even the floor in a few places. But he stopped paying the mess any mind once he saw a brilliant bird the color of flames. The boy, who had never seen such a creature, immediately walked up to the proud animal and began to stroke its chest with his finger.
"You're a handsome one, aren't you?", Orsr complimented the bird, which he somehow knew understood his words.
"He is. Though, if you compliment him too much he may become a bit vain.", the old headmaster said from behind his desk. Upon hearing his words Orsr spun around fast, startled by the man he hadn't known to be there.
"I apologize, my boy. It wasn't my intention to surprise you.", the old man said, putting his hands up.
"No... it's fine. I just can't believe I had overlooked you like that." , Orsr said to the older wizard. Dumbledore moved his hand to the seat in front of his desk, asking the boy to sit with him. After Orsr was comfortable, he felt the mood shift a bit.
"So child, how has your recovery been?", asked the headmaster.
"It's been fine. All of my ribs are finally healed and I no longer have any bleeding on the inside. The only things are a problem are the bruising and some soreness, and that isn't really an issue, it's just annoying.", the young man stated, truthfully.
"Child, if you are able would you be willing to answer some questions that me and my colleagues would like to know the answers to?", the old headmaster asked simply. He smiled once the young man nodded his head.
"Thank you, my boy. To begin, where are you from?", the old man asked as he waited for Hagrid and Severus to make their appearance.
"I'm from Skyrim. A province in the continent of Tamriel.", the child answered a second after. Neither professor had ever heard of the land, but the boy showed no indication of lying.
"I see...", Dumbledore said as his other two missing colleagues made their appearance,
"And pray tell, how did you happen upon the forbidden forest?"
"I... I don't know. I was at the College one moment, then I was surrounded by trees the next. I had thought I was transported near Morthal, or even Falkreath at first... but the terrain was all wrong.", the child had told the old man. Next it was Severus that asked the boy a question.
"Those potions, what were their effects and where did you get them?"
"The red one helped heal me both internally and externally, and the blue one restored some of my magika.", the child answered again.
"Magika?", Minerva questioned.
"Yes, in a broad sense magika is the... spiritual energy... that allows me to cast spells. Once my magika is low or gone, I'd have to wait for a little bit to cast any other spell. The blue potion I drank helped to restore my lost magika so that I could cast a healing spell on myself. As for where I got the potions, I made them myself."
"An' thad' creature in tha' forest, tha' dead one, whad' was it?", asked the half-giant.
"That was a high elf named Ancano...", the boy said, solemnly, "He was a person, an Aldmeri Dominion agent that was stationed at the College of Winterhold."
"Did you kill him?", asked the green robed witch.
"...yes. I did."
The faculty of Hogwarts stood there in a stunned silence looking at the boy who was no older than fourteen. Nobody believed that a child could, or would, have the stomach to admit that they killed another person. Even Snape, the usually stoic potions master, had a look of shock on his face.
"I... before we were in that forest... Ancano was trying to siphon power from an ancient artifact only known as the Eye of Magnus.", the boy explained to the other people in the office,"Me and...my father went to confront him, to stop his madness... my father was in trouble so I tried fighting Ancano alone. He and myself ended up here, in your forest. I'm sure you saw the state his body was in, twisted and broken? His mind was already broken at that point. He...he was begging for his mother... so I put him out of his misery."
"Was thad' yer...", started the half giant.
"No. No, I have killed before. Though if I say it like that I sound like a villain, don't I?", answered the boy,"Skyrim, my home, is a hard place. Life... is not guaranteed, to anyone."
"And what do you mean by that, child?", Minerva asked the young man.
"...it is a bit hard to describe, though it really shouldn't be.", Orsr said.
"Follow me, my boy.", Dumbledore said as he stood from his seat. The old wizard made his way to a corner of his office, Orsr right behind him. The headmaster put his hand on the child's back, directing him to a basin of water.
"Do...do I need a bath?", Orsr asked, smelling the robes provided by the kind healer. Dumbledore chuckled.
"No, my boy. This is called a penseive, it allows the user to look at old memories. If you are willing, I would like to use this to see your past.", the old man said bluntly.
"Go ahead, sir.", the boy immediately answered,"How do we do it?"
