Diane... she was the only thing Wolf could think about. Like, the ONLY thing. It wasn't like he hadn't seen her in a long time. She picked them (the Bad Guys) up from prison yesterday.
And it seems like since then, that fox could never leave his mind. But... why exactly? Surely he was a changed man now. No need to act all tough and bad anymore. Still, what was it about her that attracted him? Was it those stunning green eyes that danced like ocean waves? Was it her autumn-colored fur that illuminated in the light? Was it her curved and well-designed body that highlighted her features? Was it her...
"Wolf!" called a raspy voice, which Wolf could only assume was Snake, his best friend. "You're zoning out again..."
Wolf forgot he was in a card game with Snake. The two had been at it for the last 20 minutes. The rest of the crew was doing their own thing. Piranha was taking a nap, Shark was watching TV, and Webs was out on a girls night. The gang had gotten quite popular with the residents thanks to their positive turnaround, though Snake would rather hang with his best friend. Speaking of which...
"Sorry Snake. Just thinkin' about somethin'." Wolf knew it was impossible to get through Snake, but he was gonna try. Snake always finds the truth.
"About what, the fox girl?" Snake wasn't an idiot. "You think I wouldn't notice man?"
"Notice what?"
"You like her man."
"No, I don't."
"Oh yeah? Then admit it."
"Admit what?"
"Admit you don't like her."
"Fine..." It took a bit of hesitation on Wolf's part. "I don't like Diane."
"That's too bad, 'cause she's on the TV screen."
Snake pointed behind Wolf where the TV was. Wolf immediately turned his head in said direction, but she wasn't on the screen.
"Hah! I knew it!" Snake shouted as he slammed his deck of cards on the table. "It's obvious now."
"Okay, so she has my attention. Big deal." If Wolf admitted his feelings in front of his friend (especially this one), he would never hear the end of it.
"We're friends man. I can see right through you." Snake pulled one of his signature smirks, and Wolf was gonna have to come up with a quick-witted response.
"Diane may be attractive, mi amigo, but look at it this way. Women are like clothes. You wear them for a little while, and then switch it up. It's easy logic man."
The guys were well aware of Wolf's various "adventures" with women. Hell, he used to bring most of his exes to the hideout to play cards with the crew. As selfish as he can be, Snake understood Wolf better than anyone.
"I guess you got a point."
"Exactly my friend. A little mind game with females never hurts." Wolf tapped his forehead as he said this.
"You really do think things through huh?" The scaly reptile smiled at his buddy.
"What can I say? I'm always a few steps ahead." Wolf's ego was starting to flourish now, but it took a bit of a turn when his phone started ringing in his pocket. He gave Snake a fist-bump before leaving to answer the call.
"Hellooo." Wolf stated as he answered the phone.
"Hey, it's me, Diane!" Even though she just saw him yesterday, she sounded oddly excited to hear him.
"Diane, good to hear ya. What's up?" The two exchanged numbers after she dropped them off at the hideout.
"Well, I was calling to ask you something."
"Sure. Ask away."
"Would you mind picking me up tomorrow?"
"Oh, did you need a ride somewhere?"
"Yeah. My car broke down today, and it won't be back for 3 days. I have some errands to run, if you don't mind helping me."
"Of course I don't mind. It would be my pleasure." Wolf wasn't going to pass up on this. "What time should I swing by?"
"Is 10 o'clock good for you?"
"Anytime is good for me."
"Nice try, Wolf." Diane knew what Wolf was trying to do. She finds it funny how slick he thinks he is.
"There's always a next time, Diane. But I'll be there to come pick you up."
"Thanks Wolf. I guess you really are good now huh?"
"It's a different feeling, but I like it."
"That makes two of us."
"Yep."
"Well I'll see you tomorrow then."
"Yeah, see ya Diane."
"See ya, Wolfy~" She said before hanging up.
"'Wolfy' huh..." Wolf stared at his phone until the screen went black, then headed back to Snake, who had fallen asleep at the table. Shark had fallen asleep as well, and Piranha was still sleeping.
Not wanting to disturb them, he headed towards a bed in the corner of the room. He plugged his phone in the charger before getting comfortable under the covers.
Tomorrow's gonna be an interesting day, he thought before falling asleep.
