I hope I got Qibli and Winter's personalities right.
An IceWing sat at his desk, his white talons stained with ink. He was obviously annoyed with something.
I I think I'll stop for now, I Winter thought.
He sighed. Standing up, he put a thick stack of yellow papers on top of an even thicker stack. Paperwork was really draining.
Winter tilted his head to look out the window. Almost dusk.
As he walked past his bed, the pink-and-yellow RainWing laying on it with a scroll looked up.
"Have fun, Winter!" Kinkajou chirped.
"Thanks" Winter opened the door for a walk around town. Pausing to give Kinkajou a smile, he closed it, leaving the cheery RainWing to her own devices.
Winter started towards Riptide's house, probably to have someone to complain to.
He stopped. On that thought, he changed course to Qibli's and Moon's house. Time for him to bother the annoying SandWing. Thinking about what he was going to say, Winter raised a fist to knock.
The door opened before he could, and Winter accidentally rapped Qibli on the snout.
"Moon, I'm gonna go to Win- hey!" The SandWing stepped back. "What was th- Oh, hey, Winter!" Qibli greeted Winter. "Wasn't expecting you!" Winter realized that he had an embarrassed expression, and plastered a bored look on his face.
"I was going for a walk, and come to ask if you would like to join me." Winter spoke in a level monotone.
"Aw, your life is empty without me and you want my company!" Qibli teased. Winter noticed Moon farther into the room giving him an amused look. As much as he wouldn't admit it out loud, Winter quite liked the clever Sand dragon. Qibli would never let him hear the end of it.
He continued. "I take that as a yes, then?"
"Yeah, I was coming to ask you."
Winter stepped back to allow Qibli to get past. The SandWing slink out the door. "Where would like to go?" Qibli asked, closing the door behind him.
"Ah, nowhere in particular."
"How 'bout Toad's kabob stall?"
"Sounds good."
At that they both started down the road.
"It's been rather peaceful around here for awhile, now." Winter commented, finishing off his salmon kabob.
"I know, right?" Qibli replied through a mouthful of camel. "Don't get me wrong, I like the serenity."
"Nice change from the adventures you had, what, four years ago? No, five. Wow, that long?" Winter's demeanour changed from professional to casual.
"Believe it or not, I sorta miss those days. It was exciting." Qibli sighed, looking at his now-empty stick. He flicked it into a nearby trash barrel. "I almost wish something would happen."
"Don't that, you'll jinx it!"
"What, I miss those days?" He swept his gaze across the busy street. He looked back at Winter. "Come on, admit it, you want some action around here..." Qibli trailed off, staring at something behind Winter with an expression of horror on his face. Winter quickly turned around, his heart sinking.
He didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Suddenly he heard laughter. When Winter looked at Qibli, he was cackling like a maniac.
"Y-you fell for it! The expression on your f-face!" the dragon managed to gasp out between fits.
Winter was not amused.
"Get up." he poked the hysterical SandWing. "What the heck was that for?" Passerby were giving them odd glances.
"Sorry, but i-it was so worth it!"
Winter allowed a faint smile to appear on his lips.
"HA! Admit it! That was funny! I can totally see on your face!" Qibli accused Winter.
"Fine. It was funny." Winter deadpanned. This only drew some more giggles from the dragon.
"Anyway, what were you saying?" Winter prompted. "Or was that entire conversation a setup?"
"No, I was serious. Hasn't it been a little uneventful? Not that I'm complaining, of course."
Winter thought it over, tossing away his empty kabob stick.
"Yeah, I suppose."
Qibli had stopped listening. Winter realized that it was awfully quiet. Qibli was trying to figure out what everyone was looking at.
He stopped swiveling his head, and surprise mixed with genuine horror appeared on his face. Winter followed his gaze, and it landed on a dragon.
She looked I Awful I.
