Meet Me Once Again

Been listening to Morgan Wallen's "Wasted on You" (great song despite how you feel about him personally) which kinda set this up. I've also been into Dan + Shay's "You" which is the complete opposite feeling to this but had to give it a shout out.

Not really sure how I feel about this one but here goes…

Please R&R! Thanks! As usual, don't own Naley or OTH, just this fic.

Chapter 1: The Bar Stool to the Left

"Every time I feel even a sliver of happiness… it gets taken away from me in the most painful of ways."

As dramatic as that sounds, Nathan Scott sympathizes with the man seated on the bar stool to his left and sends a nod of understanding his way. Nathan knows the feeling, he knows it all too damn well. Nathan continues to watch the disheveled man as he downs his drink, then slam the empty tumbler on the counter and throw some cash on the counter before eventually wading through the crowded bar.

With a sigh towards the now unoccupied stool, Nathan counts the man as number three. The third poor sap this evening wallowing in their sorrows and venting their nearly identical heartbreaking predicaments. And Nathan's only been seated for 45 minutes tonight according to his Rolex. Nathan let out a bitter chuckle at how he was spending his Friday night… again. Every Friday night in the month of July nursing a couple of drinks sometimes until closing.

As Nathan takes another sip of his now flat beer, his peripheral vision catches movement. He turns to solemnly greet his new seatmate but it's Nathan who gets greeted… in the most painful way possible.

The patron seated next to him conjures a painful last conversation for Nathan. Specifically a single sentence. A single sentence and the tone in which it was said continues to haunt him so much so that it's the reason he's sitting here every Friday night. Shit.

"My only regret was ever meeting you, Nathan Scott!"

Of all the freakin' random bars on a Friday night in Los Angeles, Haley James just had to walk into this one and conveniently sit next to Nathan Scott.
