Consequences For
Kara's Outing
Disclaimer: Because I kinda feel this would happen and I've no idea if its been mentioned on the Flash but probably not and is part of my 'Hijinks' series. And the retcon of Lucy that Superman and Lois did is dutifully ignored as the claim of the Post-Crisis change being original is… Definitely not that at all. So Lucy's still the Lucy Supergirl brought in but that'll come into play at a later time. And in this Post-Crisis world, while there was a Military presence in Freeland because of the Markovian threat, it wasn't turned into an Occupation Zone but Odell's still a piece of shit who had the Pierce Family under his thumb for a bit. And Momma Payne was NOT Painkiller's first kill either.
Now prior to her revealing herself to the world through an interview with Ms. Grant, Kara had had a long talk with everyone in her life and while there had been support for what she wanted to do, there had been some concern. But Kara had been confident everything would work out and perhaps that had been naive of her and she'd later realize she should've looked to the example of what Oliver went through after coming out to the world about being the Green Arrow. As after the big reveal for Kara, it had put a strain on things for Kara as there would be distrust, scrutiny, death threats, attempted murder attempts, attempted kidnappings, and a minor court battle where Esme was concerned that the Danvers/Olsens ultimately won. Not knowing that Lex, working in secret with the Markovians, had been behind it. At least not until later that is. Some of the distrust and scrutiny for example came from those Kara worked with at CatCo. For a lot of those who had worked with her there and known her for years because of that, had felt a sense of hurt and betrayal for being kept out of the loop for so long and there was even some nasty rumors flying around too beyond the walls of CatCo. Media.
Namely from past dates and jerks in general looking for their 15 minutes of fame. Though that would pale in comparison to the few near death attempts made on her adoptive mother now that the truth was out. And since other Earths were no longer a thing and Eliza refused to go to Argo where her biological parents were for safety, that had added another line of worry and stress for Kara to deal with. But thankfully a damn good eye would be kept on Eliza and it didn't hurt that after the 3rd attempt, Kara and the rest of the SuperFriends had made it very clear they wouldn't tolerate more attempts on Eliza Danvers' life. And no one else was stupid enough to even try after that, especially after Kara had somehow sweet talked Slade 'Deathstroke' Wilson of all people into being her adoptive mom's bodyguard for awhile. Kara would also have to be careful about how she went about hanging about with her friends outside of National City like Barry over in Central or family like Clark in Metropolis and later Smallville when he moved the family there after Martha's death.
If only so as not to cause them any kind of trouble if they saw her and them together as she had heard from Clark that a lot of questions had come his and Lois' way after her big reveal. But despite all the problems that came Kara's way and were dealt with as they came, she ultimately didn't regret the decision to out herself. Even if she did wish the problems and the strain that came afterwards for some time hadn't of happened.
Author's Notes: And now that I'm thinking about it, in the Post-Crisis world, the Markovians would more than likely become a problem for Central City too.
