Weapons fire scorched the walls of command deck as the creature in midnight blue armor ducked Dylan's force lance.
The fight seemed like it had been going on for hours as the creatures kept duplicating. Though finally Harper had disabled their duplication device and only one android soldier remained.
The rest of the gang swiftly made their way there in an attempt to aid their friends and put an end to this particular fight.
"Your not so tough without your friends are you?", said Dylan out of breath in an attempt to distract his opponent.
The android seemed unaffected as it took another shot towards the captain.
"If you have any ammo left Harper now would be the time!", said Dylan throwing his now useless gun away.
Harper looked at his ammo-less gun and saw as Dylan ducked from the creatures shot, the robotic being swiftly pulled a large sword like blade from a hidden built in sheath on it's armor.
It headed towards Dylan as Harper quickly moved in front of the blades edge.
Harper's eyes widened as he looked down at the sword through his torso.
"NO!!", Dylan screamed not wanting to believe his eyes.
Suddenly the creature was shot down by none other than Tyr standing with the others having just arrived in the doorway.
The creature retracted it's weapon from Harper's stomach as it fell to the ground.
The sword having been the only thing holding him up, Harper started to fall toward the floor.
Dylan caught him before his head hit the ship floor, his strong hands lowering him into his lap.
Harper gasped for air as blood trickled out the side of his mouth.
"No, no, no!", said Dylan desperately.
Harper looked at him with pain filled eyes as Dylan grabbed at Harper's shirt not wanting to let him go.
"Harper come on stay with me! Look at me you're gonna be fine just stay awake!", said Dylan desperately.
"I-Im sorry boss.", Harper said quietly, fear laced in every word.
"I'm sorry.", he repeated painfully. His eyes were wide with shock, incredible pain, and fear, as he trembled in Dylan's arms. His skin grew pale as his gaze drifted further and further away.
Harper's eyes went gray as his body lay suddenly still.
Dylan pulled Harper to his chest wishing he could still keep him safe. Tears flowed avidly as he held on tight to his loyal and young engineer.
Beka sobbed into Tyr's uncharacteristically comforting shoulder.
Trance fell to her knees in despair as tears blurred her vision. Her shaky hands wrapped around her arms as she held herself with disbelief.
Rommie felt more pain than she thought possible as she felt paralyzed where she stood.
"This wasn't supposed to happen!", Trance said looking up.
"No!", she said determined and angry as she put her hands on either side of his head.
Her hands glowed white as what seemed like an energy transference of some kind occurred between the two.
The crew watched with shock as Harper eyes suddenly shot open with a desperate intake of air.
He coughed upon regaining his breath as Trance cried tears of relief into Harper's chest.
He felt no pain but for a feeling of weakened energy.
"Dylan? Trance?", he asked not knowing his desired answer.
Harper instinctively put his arm Trances trembling form and seeing her tear stained cheeks.
"Trance? What just happened?", said Dylan with shock.
She only responded with diversion of eye contact. He lifted Harper's red stained shirt finding no wound.
Harper grazed his hand over the smooth skin finding only the escaped blood remaining.
"Harper you've still lost a lot of blood, you should get to med deck.", said Rommie interrupting the shock/confusion filled silence.
"Trance?", said Harper. He put his hand against her soft cheek.
She'd have been smiling from relief if it weren't for Harper's limp pale image didn't keep flashing in her mind.
He knew somehow what she was thinking as he wiped a runaway tear. "It's okay now.", he said quietly, kissing her forehead tenderly.
Harper used a shaky hand to slowly sit up. Dylan and Trance got up with him and giving him a hand.
Trance put her arm around the pale and weary looking Harper. He gave her a grateful smile as they started to slowly make their way to med deck.
As they dissapeared down the corridor, Dylan, Tyr, Beka, and Rommie remained speechless on the command deck.
"I never knew our little professor possessed such bravery.", said Tyr.
"I did.", said Dylan with a smile of pride.
"Did you know Trance could that?", asked Dylan looking at Beka.
"No. That girl never stops surprising me.", said Beka with a chuckle. She still shook slightly and tried wiping away the trails her tears left behind on her cheeks.
This wasn't a moment you could brush off though. None of them could get their thoughts straight. The ghost of tragedy still lurked in the room and it sent cold scared shivers down their spines. They'd seen Harper tragically impailed through the stomach. Mourn wasn't the word to describe their feelings as their beloved young friend struggled to catch his breath. His blood leaking into a puddle on the floor and staining Dylan's uniform. Dylan's cry of disbelief as he tried desperately not to let him go. He had breathed his last breath.
It was a moment they knew would haunt their thoughts forever.
