"What did you even need her for?" What had been meant to be a family-gathering of some innocent stripe, ended up a family-gathering with a distinctly more alarming tone. Karl was leaning back in his chair, one pillow close to escaping and falling to the ground. Salvatore was beside him on his own, personal chair, even as Angie climbed all over the remaining furniture.

"I wanted to know your opinions about something, but now..." Mother Miranda was mildly reassured in that Alcina had clearly planned this disappearance and had taken her daughters along for back-up, but still! To just leave without warning, especially after last year... There would be yelling, no matter how well it would end.

"By this point, we won't catch up with her." Donna, curled up on the armchair in front of the fireplace, cup of tea in hand. "She probably was counting on that, if she left during the night."

"It's that Grania-hiding-thing all over." The Priestess snarled in anger. "What is it with her and not asking for help!? Don't answer that, Karl, I know your answer already."

He snorted at that, reaching for the coffee one of his sister's maids had put down beside him earlier.

"So what did you need us for?" Lord Moreau mused, popping a piece of cheese into his mouth from the platter that had been delivered for him.

"I... remembered something I left in America... or rather, someone..." Miranda stopped her pacing to drop in her own chair, a luxurious leather creation she really wondered where Alcina had picked it up. "I wanted to retrieve them, but of course..."

"Did not want to pull an Alcina?" He flicked his hat over onto another chair. "Also, do I want to know whom you left in America? I suppose they were from that thing a couple years back?"

"Yes." She reached for her own drink, mercifully spiked with some of the Dimitrescu-vintage, non-blooded. "I suppose... the best to describe them is another sibling to you lot."

"Why am I not even surprised..." Karl snarled. "And how many others are there?"

"She's the only one, the last one." His mother countered his anger with annoyance. "And I was planning to retrieve her, but then things happened."

"Well, you can't leave now..." Donna whispered. "At least not until Alcina is back from wherever she has gone."

"Which might be too late... It's been years since Mother came back." Her more monstrous brother pointed out.

Karl muttered something under his breath that was distinctly curse-like. "I guess I have to go then?"

"Pardon?"

"Well, you need to stay here in case Alcina gets into trouble and Sal does not exactly pass for human, now does he?" He gestured to the male that looked more like a blob or beached whale than a human at the moment. "I do hope you can give me a bit more than 'America', that place is rather big."

"I'll join him." Donna beckoned Angie over. "Because if we need to depend on Karl's social skills, our sibling is doomed." She smirked at her brother's affronted gasp. "I agree with Alcina on that matter."

"You are just jealous I was mom's favorite for a time." He muttered darkly, crossing his arms and nursing his coffee.

Perhaps she ought to have bypassed the tea and go for pure wine. The worst was that they were right. She could not leave while Alcina was... God knew where and waiting until she was back might well be too late. It could already be too late now, but there was still a larger chance than there might be in a month. Assuming her eldest would be back at the end of the month and would not simply only send word.

"We'll have to contact the Duke for some passports." As she mourned the lack of alcohol in her life - how had things derailed this badly this quickly? - her present children were already planning. "Think Angie can play dead long enough to get through the plane-flight?"

"I'll show you play death!" The doll launched herself at the human-looking brother, to his cackling as he punted her away.

"Karl!"

"It was self-defense! You are right there, you saw!"
