Outside of a cafe named, "Sunnyside Diner', the impala pulls up and parks into one of the parking spaces.
Isabeau smiles happily in between her two boyfriends, looking up at Sam as he reaches down to place a slow, sensual kiss on her lips. She smiles into their kiss, grabbing a fistful of Sam's jacket.
Dean looks over with a faint smile and shakes his head, "Okay, break it up you two."
Isabeau and Sam pull away as Dean rifles through his wallet. Dean sends a wink Isabeau's way as he pulls out some money.
Ever since the three of them had a talk about the idea of one day getting married, Isabeau had been a little giddy. Though, marriage would be far into the future, the thought of it sent her into a happy mindset.
"Hey, don't forget the extra onions this time, huh?" Dean says and hands Sam some money.
Isabeau grimaces at the 'extra onions' and Sam sighs, "Dude, we're the ones who's gonna have to ride in the car with your extra onions."
Isabeau nods agreeing with Sam, "And I think you're forgetting who's lips kiss yours?"
Dean grins at them as they get out of the car, sighing.
"Seriously, I kiss those pretty lips." Isabeau says, giving him a look and Dean just puckers his lips in response.
Isabeau shakes her head. Those dumb, sinful, pretty lips.
Dean leans over to tell them one more thing, "Hey, see if they've got any pie."
Glaring, Sam shuts the door and Isabeau waves to him.
"Bring me some pie!" Dean calls out again and Isabeau responds with a thumbs up while Sam hooks an arm around her waist.
"I love me some pie." Dean says to himself, turning up the song on the radio.
Dean watches Sam and Isabeau go into the café, and talk to the waiter. Suddenly, Dean's car radio becomes staticy. Dean glances down and fiddles with it, but it turns off completely. When Dean looks back up, the inside of the café is empty. No waiter, no Sam or Isabeau.
Dean runs into the café. Country music is playing and one customer at a booth is dead, face down in a puddle of blood.
Dean draws his gun, "Sam? Isabeau?"
Dean paces forward and looks around. He finds that the employees are also dead, with their throats slit.
Dean opens the back door and looks around outside, "Sam?! Isabeau?!"
Dean then notices something on the door, "Sulfur."
He races back out the front door, heading back to the car, "Sam! Sammy! Beau!"
There's no response, "Sammy! Beau!"
Still no response, "SAM! BEAU!"
In an unknown place, with a gasp, Sam wakes up in the middle of nowhere. He is lying on the ground, and a few abandoned buildings are lining the street.
"Sam? Sam!" He hears Isabeau calling out for him.
He looks in the direction of her voice and sees her come around the side of a building directly across from him, "Isabeau?" He calls out.
Isabeau looks in his direction, letting out a sigh of relief and jogging over to him, "Sam! You okay?"
Waking up in a worn down, almost decaying townhouse was certainly not on Isabeaus' 'to do' list for the day and yet, here she was. Last thing she remembered doing was ordering from the menu in the diner and then nothing.
She offers her hand to him and Sam accepts it, letting her help him up, "Yeah, I'm fine. Are you okay?" He asks, standing, grabbing her shoulders in concern.
Isabeau nods, "Yeah… yeah." She reassures him and takes out her phone, but gets no cell reception, "Except we're in the middle of nowhere with no cell reception."
Sam and Isabeau continue to search the deserted town, but don't find much. Most of the buildings are broken down or locked from the outside.
Suddenly, Sam and Isabeau hear a creaking noise nearby. In an instant, two planks of wood fly into each of Isabeau's hands and give one to Sam, ready to fight.
What they didn't expect for Andy Gallager to turn the corner. The two brandish the plank, and Andy jumps back, startled.
Isabeau tilts her head in confusion. "Andy?"
"Isabeau! Sam! What are you doing here?" Andy asks them.
"We don't know." Sam answers, him and Isabeau lowering their weapons.
"What am I doing here?!" Andy exclaims.
"We don't know." Sam repeats himself.
"Where are we?!" Andy starts panicking.
Isabeau raises a hand, her and Sam throwing their planks off to the side, "Andy, look, calm down."
"I can't calm down! I just woke up in freaking Frontierland!" Andy shakes, rubbing his face.
"What's the last thing you remember?" Isabeau asks, whipping her hands on her jeans from the dirt of the wood.
Andy breathes heavily, "Honestly? My fourth bong load."
Isabeau purses her lips, 'Nice.' She thought to herself.
"It was weird. All of a sudden, there was this really intense smell. Like, uh…" Andy trails off not being able to describe what he smelt.
"Like sulfur?" Sam guesses.
"How did you know that?" Andy looks at him in disbelief.
And that's where Isabeau's mood went down the drain. Fucking demons.
Sam remembers something, "Dean."
Isabeau's eyes widened. She hasn't seen Dean anywhere since she woke up. She didn't even know if he was there with them.
"Your, your brother – is he here?" Andy asks.
Sam glances at Isabeau and she shakes her head, "We don't know where he is. We don't know if he's…" She trails off. Thousands of thoughts entered Isabeau's head and her fingers immediately started playing with her rosary.
Suddenly, they hear a woman screaming in the distance. They approach another deserted building. The woman is locked inside, banging on the door for help.
"Hello?" Sam calls out.
"Help me! Help me, please!" The woman begs.
Isabeau comes up to the door, placing her hands on it, "Okay, I'm here. We're gonna get you out, all right? Just hold on a second."
"Please!" The woman begs again.
Isabeau's hand glows a burning, bright red as she touches the padlock on the door, melting the metal, "All right, one second."
"Please!"
"What the hell?" Andy whispers as he watches Isabeau.
Sam ignores his comment and watches as his girlfriend does what she does best.
Isabeau rips it off once it is weak enough and throws it to the ground. Her hands stop glowing and the door opens; Ava Wilson steps out.
"Ava?" Isabeau tilts her head, staring at her in shock.
"Oh my God! Isabeau!" Sobbing, she gives her a gigantic hug. Isabeau wraps her arms around Ava, returning a much softer hug. She looks over at Sam who was just as shocked as she was.
Ava then notices Sam, "Sam!" And she does the same thing that she did to Isabeau. Isabeau blinked. This girl was really emotional.
Andy watches the exchange between the three of them, "So, I guess you guys know each other."
Sam and Ava pull away from their hug and Sam glances over, "Yeah."
Ava looks back and forth between him and Isabeau, "How did you—I mean, how did you—"
"Ava, have you been here this whole time?" Isabeau asks, concerned, placing a hand on Ava's shoulder.
"What whole time? I just woke up in there, like, a half an hour ago." Ava explains.
"Well, you've been gone for five months. My brother, Isabeau and I have been looking for you everywhere." Sam tells her.
"Okay, that's impossible, because I saw you two days ago." Ava says, denying his story.
Sam shakes his head, "You didn't. I'm sorry."
"But… that makes no sense. That's not—oh my God! My fiancée, Brady! If I've been missing for that long, he must be freaking out!" Ava exclaims.
Isabeau bites her lip, "Well…"
"Oh!" Ava notices Andy and looks at him, confused.
Andy waves to her, "Hey. Andy. Also freaking out."
Ava nods, "Okay." She looks back at the couple, "What's happening?"
Isabeau thinks for a moment, "I, uh, uh, I don't really know yet. But I know one thing: I know what the three of you have in common. And… I'm somehow tied into this too."
They suddenly hear a man's voice, calling from the distance, "Hello? Is anybody there?"
"Maybe more than three." Sam says, grabbing Isabeau's hand, squeezing it tight.
They run to the side of another building. The man is accompanied by a blonde girl.
"Hello? Hey! Hey, you guys all right?" Sam calls out and asks them.
"I think so." The man answers.
"I'm Sam." Sam introduces himself.
Isabeau puts her hand up, gesturing hello, "Isabeau."
"I'm Jake." The man answers.
"Lily." The blonde woman introduces herself as well.
"Are there any more of you?" Sam asks.
Jake shakes his head, "Naw."
"How did we even get here? A minute ago, I was in San Diego." Lily tells them.
Jake looks back at her, "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I went to sleep last night in Afghanistan."
Isabeau huffs, "Let me take a wild guess: you two are both twenty-three? You all are. And you all have abilities." She shakes her head, why was she a part of all of this?
"What?" Jake asks.
"It started a little over a year ago? You found you could do things? Things you didn't think were possible?" Sam asks and they both nod.
"I have visions. I see things before they happen." Sam explains.
"Yeah. Me, too." Ava adds in.
"Yeah, and I can put thoughts into people's heads. Like, make them do stuff." Andy shares his ability, "But don't worry, it, I don't think it works on you guys. Oh, but get this –- I've been practicing. Training my brain, like meditation. So now, it's not just thoughts I can beam out, but images, too."
Isabeau blinks as Andy continues on his rant, "Like, anything I want. Bam! People, they see it. This one guy I know – total dick, right? I used it on him: gay porn. All hours of the day."
Andy laughs, "It was just like … you should have seen the look on his face."
The other four look unamused, at best, disgusted at worst. Isabeau just purses her lips, "Too much information, Andy."
"Uh…okay." Andy awkwardly fiddles with his fingers.
Jake looks over at Isabeau who hasn't shared her ability, "What about you? What can you do?"
Sam looks over at Isabeau, "Beau." he warns her.
Isabeau removes her hand from Sam's, shoving them in her jacket pockets, "Sorry, but I'm not like you guys. I'm older than all of you and well… I'm something known as a hybrid; half witch, half elemental."
She watches as Jake and Lily take a small step back compared to Ava and Andy, who just stare at her. Not the first time people have backed away from her. Humans are scared of things they can't understand, yet possibly think is real.
Isabeau sighs, "Though, I… have a strange feeling that I'm here for a reason."
Lily shakes her head, "So, you're not human?" She asks Isabeau.
Isabeau shrugs, "Technically, yes. I'm not 'human'. " She does air quotations when she says 'human'.
Lily scoffs, looking at Andy, "And you go, 'Simon says give me your wallet', and they do?" She looks at Sam, "You have visions? That's great! I'd kill for something like that."
"Lily, listen, it's okay—" Sam starts to say.
Lily stops him, "No. It's not. I touch people? Their hearts stop. I can barely leave my house. My life's not exactly improved. So, screw you. I just wanna go home."
Jake looks back, "And what, we don't?"
Lily points a finger at him, "You know what, don't talk to me like that, not right—"
Sam breaks them up, "Hey, guys, please. Look, whether we like it or not, we're all here, and so we all have to deal with this."
"Who brought us here?" Andy asks him.
"It's less of a "who". It's ... more of a "what"." Sam says.
"What does that mean?" Ava asks.
Isabeau pauses, "It's a…, huh, it's a demon."
Lily huffs out a breath of disgust.
Bobby and Dean are parked on the side of the road, poring over a map. "This is it. All demonic signs and omens over the past month." Bobby says, pointing down at the map.
Dean looks at him in disbelief, "Are you joking? There's nothing here."
"Exactly." Bobby nods.
"Well, come on, there's gotta be something. What about the, the, the normal, low-level stuff? You know, exorcisms, that kind of thing." Dean asks.
"That's what I'm telling you: there's nothing. It's completely quiet." Bobby explains.
"Well, how are we supposed to look for Sam and Isabeau? What, do we just close our eyes and point?" Dean says frustrated.
They look over as a blue, 1970s Oldsmobile 442 pulls up next to them. The car stops and two women step out of the car.
One had long, straight hair that was half blonde and half black, parts of her dark skin was pale, splotched all over her body, her dark brown eyes landing on Dean and Bobby.
She walks up to them, her and Bobby sharing a quick hug, "Heya, kid." Bobby greets.
She pulls away and shares a very quick side hug with Dean, "Hey, Alia." Dean greets.
Alia nods at them, "Wish we could've met under better circumstances." Alia comments.
"Dead right." The other woman comes up to them who had long black hair with an undercut, her skin a few shades darker than Alia's and her ice blue eyes piercing to anyone who looked at them.
Dean nods at her, "Did you and Alia find anything, Belle?"
Belle shakes her head, "Nothing, De. Nothing with our location spells. Whatever is going on, it's big. We can't even connect to Isa through our coven mark. Whoever or whatever took Isa and Sam is powerful enough to block our connection with her."
"We can't even feel her." Alia comments, rubbing her arms for comfort.
Belle frowns a little and places a hand on Alia's shoulder, "Any luck on your end?" Belle asks the two men.
Bobby shakes his head, "No… what about Carmen or Olivia? Can they check if they can do anything?" He knew about what those two girls were, they could find a way.
Alia sighs, "Last I heard they were on their way to find Uncle C to see if he can maybe pull some strings in all of this."
Dean nods, "Do you need anything from us to find them?"
Belle shakes her head, "No. Right now all we can do is head back to the mansion and do a couple of rituals to break whatever barrier is keeping Isa hidden from us."
Alia places a hand on Dean's shoulder, "We'll find them, De. We're going to do everything in our power to bring them home."
Dean smiles faintly at them in appreciation, "Thanks."
The two girls nod and make their way back to their car. They hop in and drive off, determined to find Isa and Sam.
After a moment, Dean's phone rings. It's Ash, calling from the Roadhouse.
Dean answers it, "Ash, what do you got?"
"Okay, listen, it's a big negatory on Sam and Isabeau—" Ash starts.
"Oh, come on, man! You've gotta give us something. We're looking at a three thousand-mile haystack here. And Isabeau's coven can only do so much!" Dean says.
"Listen, Dean. I did find something." Ash whispers out.
"Well, what?" Dean asks.
"I can't talk over this line, Dean." Ash says.
"Come on, I don't have time for this!"
"Make time, okay? Because this –" Ash stops as a customer walks by, and says to the customer, "What's up? What's going on?"
The customer passes by, and Ash goes back to Dean, "Not only does this almost definitely help you find your brother and girlfriend, this is...ah, it's huge. So get here. Now." Ash hangs up.
"I guess we're going to the Roadhouse. Come on." Dean says, him and Bobby getting into the impala.
"So, we're soldiers in a demon war to bring on the Apocalypse?" Jake asks, pacing.
Isabeau shrugs, "Ladies and gentlemen we have a winner." She mutters under her breath. She knew that this demon needed her for some reason in all of this. But for what, she didn't know.
Sam lightly nudges her, scolding her with a look before answering Jake, "When you put it like that—"
"And, and we've been picked?" Jake asks.
"Yes." Sam answers.
"Why us?"
"I'm not sure, okay? But look, we just know—" Sam says, stepping forward.
"Sam, I'm sorry. Psychics and spoon-bending is one thing, but demons?" Ava asks, causing Sam to stop and turn around.
Isabeau sighs, "Look, we know it sounds crazy, but—"
Jake looks over at her, "It doesn't just sound it."
Isabeau narrows her eyes at him, stepping up next to Sam, "I don't really care what you think, okay? If we're all gathered here together, then that means it's starting and that we've gotta—"
Jake steps down to her, "The only thing I've gotta do is stay away from wackjobs, okay? I've heard enough. I'm better off on my own. FYI, so are you."
Jake walks away from the group and Sam tries to call him back, "Jake, hold on. Jake!"
Jake ignores him and continues walking until he is alone in the town. Suddenly, he sees a young blonde girl standing inside one of the buildings. She stares at him through the door, then vanishes.
Jake follows her, entering the abandoned schoolroom, "Hello?"
The girl is giggling somewhere in the room. "It's all right. Don't be scared. Are you lost?" Jake asks, looking around, "Hello?"
Jake hears screeching coming from the chalkboard. He turns to look at it, and the words 'I will not kill' are written over and over again on the board. The girl appears in the room, laughing. Her nails grow to form claws, and her face contorts.
"Get back!" Jake yells.
Sam enters the building, grabbing an iron poker and hitting the girl with it. She dissolves into a cloud of black smoke, which exits the schoolroom. The other three and Isabeau join Jake and Sam.
"Just so you know? That was a demon." Sam tells the others as Isabeau crosses her arms staring at the others.
Isabeau swings around her rosary as she leads Sam and Jake out of the schoolhouse, "Now, that thing – I'm not sure, but I think it was an Acheri. A demon that disguises itself as a little girl." Isabeau goes off of what Sam briefly told her.
"That still doesn't tell us where we are." Sam says, grabbing Isabeau's hand with the rosary, stopping her from swinging it around.
Isabeau notices that Andy is curling into himself, "Andy, are you with us or what?"
Andy holds a finger up, stunned, "Give me a minute. I'm still working through, 'Demons are real'."
Isabeau blinks, "Wait until you hear what else is real." She mumbled to herself.
The group keeps walking. In front of one of the buildings is a large, rusty bell hanging from a wooden structure.
"I've seen that bell before. I think I know where we are now: Cold Oak, South Dakota. A town so haunted, every single resident fled." Sam informs everyone.
"Swell. Good to know we're somewhere so historical." Ava comments with a smile, trying to liven up the mood.
"Why in the world would that demon or whatever put us here?" Lily asks.
"I'm wondering the same thing." Sam says.
Lily fidgets, "You know what? It doesn't matter. Clearly, the only sane thing to do here is get the hell out of Dodge." She turns away from the groups, walking off.
Isabeau steps forward, "Wait, hold on. Lily, the only way out is through miles of woods."
Lily stops, "Beats hanging out with demons."
Isabeau shakes her head, "Lily, look, we don't know what's going on yet. I mean, we don't even know how many of them are out there right now."
Jake nods, "Yeah, she's right. We should—"
Lily turns around furious, pointing her finger at them, walking back, "Don't say 'we'! I'm not part of 'we'. I have nothing in common with any of you."
Sam raises his hands in defense, "Okay, look, I know—"
Lily shakes her head, "You don't know anything!... I accidentally touched my girlfriend."
The rest of them look at Lily, stunned by her words.
"I'm sorry." Sam apologizes.
Lily has tears in her eyes, "Whatever. I feel like I'm in a nightmare, and it just keeps getting worse and worse."
Sam glances back at Isabeau who is clutching her rosary tight. He looks back at Lily, "I've lost people, too. I have a brother out there right now that could be dead, for all I know."
Isabeau's breath hitches at the thought of Dean being dead. She would break down and probably be at her worst if anything happened to him or Sam.
"We're all in bad shape. But I'm telling you, the best way out of this is to stick together." Sam encourages her.
"Fine." Lily begrudgingly says, knowing that he was probably right.
Sam nods, and the group continues looking around the town with Sam and Isabeau leading. "We're looking for iron, silver, salt –- any kind of weapon." Sam informs the group.
"Salt is a weapon?" Jake questions in disbelief.
Isabeau chuckles with a shake of her head, "It's a brave new world, ladies and gentlemen."
"Well, hopefully there's food in your world, because I'm frickin' starving." Andy says as the group walks into a new building. Lily is about to follow, but stays behind. She wanders off on her own, away from the group, finding a way out.
Dean and Bobby turn the corner to the Roadhouse. When they get there, however, the entire building has burned to the ground, only small parts of it still standing.
"What the hell?" Dean questions as he parks the impala.
They get out of the car and begin walking among the debris. Every single part of the Roadhouse has been destroyed. Reduced to cinders and ashes.
Bobby covers his mouth in shock, "Oh, my God."
Dean looks around, "You see Ellen?" This couldn't have been happening. If Ellen was dead, he couldn't imagine how Isabeau would react.
Bobby shakes his head, "No. No Ash, either."
Dean suddenly bends down and sees Ash's watch in the pile of rubble. He pulls on it and sees it is still attached to Ash's very burnt corpse.
Dean grunts, "Oh, Ash, damn it!"
Lily is walking in the woods, trying to find a way out, pushing away the many branches blocking her path, when she suddenly hears the little girl giggling. She continues walking, trying to ignore it.
[Meanwhile, Sam and Isabeau are searching one of the abandoned houses. Sam finds a knife as he rummages through abandoned items and picks it up while Isabeau explores the house a little bit more.
Sam turns back to Ava, who is massaging her head, "Hey, you all right?"
"Yeah, I'm just…I don't know, a little dizzy." Ava assures him.
Sam raises his brows in concern, "Are you sure it's not some kind of—"
"What? Some kind of freaky vision thing?" Ava asks and then shakes her head, "No, more like I'd kill for a sandwich. I haven't eaten since…well, who knows? No, don't worry. I'm fine. Except for every single thing that's happening."
"You guys! We found something!" Isabeau calls the others over as her and Andy each hold up a bag.
Andy smiles triumphantly, "Salt!"
Sam smiles at them, "That's great, guys. Now, we all can…" A thump comes from outside and that's when Isabeau notices a certain blonde missing from the group.
Isabeau's smile falls, "Where's Lily?"
The group looks around, Ava calling her name, "Lily?"
"Lily!" Sam shouts out a beat after her.
They suddenly hear the little girl giggling nearby, followed by wood breaking and creaking. Andy and Isabeau drop their bags of salt and the four of them walk outside. At the top of a water tower, Lily is hanging from a noose, dead.
Isabeau's jaw drops as she stares at the poor girl, "This is fucked." She whispers out.
"Oh, my God!" Ava gasps, "Okay, that's officially—Sam, Isabeau, she's dead! She's dead! You said we were chosen for a reason. That is not chosen! That's killed! Okay, we have to get out of here." Ava tries to push past Sam.
Sam doesn't look away from Lily's body as he stops Ava, "Stop."
"Yeah, I second that motion." Andy says void of any emotion.
Jake shakes his head, "Not sure that's an option."
"What?" Ava questions.
"Lily was trying to leave. The demon's not gonna let us get away that easy. We've gotta gear up for the next attack." Sam explains.
"Oh, gear up?" Ava asks.
Sam nods, "Yeah."
Ava shakes her head, "Okay, well, I'm not a soldier. I can't do that!"
Isabeau shrugs, looking over at Ava, "Well, if you wanna stay alive, you're gonna have to." She pauses as tears run down Ava's face. Isabeau sighs, leading the group back the way they came, "Let's go."
Ava moves past all of them and heads into the house, not wanting to be near any of them at the moment.
"I'll get her down." Jake says, breaking off from the group to Lily's body.
Sam sighs, "You know, I was just thinking about how much Dean would help right now. I'd give my arm for a working phone."
Isabeau huffs, standing next to him, "Or some magic to actually work. My coven bond isn't working at all."
Sam frowns, "Nothing?"
Isabeau matches his frown, "Nothing. Whatever is keeping us here, hiding us, it did something to our bond."
Andy realizes something, "You know, you may not need one; a phone or your coven bond thing. I've never tried it long-distance before, but do you have anything of Dean's on you? Like, something he touched?"
Sam searches his pockets, "Uh…I've got a receipt. Would that work?"
"Yeah." Andy looks at the signature on the receipt, "D. Hasselhoff?"
Isabeau snorts as Sam explains, "Yeah, that's Dean's signature." Andy looks up at Sam, amused. Sam fidgets, "It's hard to explain."
Andy's smile grows a little bit wider, "All right."
Isabeau tilted her head in thought, suddenly remembering something that might actually help her. And if she could remember, there was good chance her entire coven was gonna try it, "I got an idea that might help us out even more."
