Japan
Usui apartment.
Misaki dragged her feet slowly making her to the couch to collapse her body unto it. She laid on the couch face down as she felt too tired to move. Today was such a hectic day preparing for her new post in England. Misaki wanted to get it done as soon as possible and worked overtime to complete it. Finally, she could rest after a day of hard work.
She just needed an hour of rest. Misaki dozes off in the same position not moving to get comfortable. All she wanted to do was close her eyes and sleep.
Six hours later.
"Dou ka...please! Can you keep my secret?"
Misaki groaned hearing the ringtone for her cellphone starting to play. She considered ignoring it but decided it was best to check and make sure it wasn't a call from work or Takumi. She slowly pushed herself off the couch stretching her body in the process. Starting to feel energize again she picked up her phone off the coffee table and look at the caller identification.
It was Takumi. He was video calling her again.
"Hi," She yawned answering the phone. Misaki rubbed her sleepy eyes, the final step in waking up her tired body.
"You were sleeping? You didn't have to answer," Takumi stated on the other end.
"It's okay. I slept longer than I should've anyway. You were a surprise alarm," She said standing up off the couch. She did sleep longer than she intended to. Misaki had to order something to eat before it got too late.
"You must've been really tired," Takumi said then paused. Misaki noted how he seemed hesitant to say what he was thinking. "Misaki. Should I be worried?"
"About what?" She asked.
"About your work and how much you take on. I feel like I'm constantly reminding you to rest and not work too much and yet you continue to do those things. Should I be worried?" He questioned again. One of the things he hated was seeing how tired Misaki was when she took on more than she could handle. She was so lost in work she didn't realize the stress she added to her body.
"I'm not a child for you to tell me what to do Takumi. I know my limits," Misaki stubbornly replied. She didn't need his constant reminders. She got his concern but just like him, she needed to get work done. It wasn't like she worked overtime regularly.
Takumi rubbing his face with his hands. "I know you're not a child but at the same time, you don't think about yourself when you take on so much work. I just want you to think about your body first."
"Well being a diplomat isn't easy. I'll have days where I need to work harder than usual. It would be nice if you just support and trust my decisions," Misaki said feeling slightly annoyed that he couldn't trust her but she also knew deep down she was being stubborn and didn't want to admit that she sometimes bit off more than she could handle.
"As a doctor, I'm telling you Misaki you need to rest," Takumi argued. Why couldn't she just realise he was just worried about her? He had seen the effects of Misaki working too hard. He's been there when she was too tired to move. He did not want to see his wife in that position yet again.
When they were in high school, he wanted to help out so she wouldn't do too much. In college, he wanted to help pay some of her expenses so she wouldn't work too many part-time jobs. She worked so hard her teen years and she was working even harder now.
"Sometimes I wish you didn't work as a diplomat," He admitted. Takumi had thoughts about Misaki not working but he wanted to support her. However, he couldn't just sit by and do that if she was going to be this way.
"Good to know," Misaki said before she ended the call. She covered her face with her hands not wanting to be seen crying even though there was no one else in the room.
Why were they arguing over something like this?
It was stupid.
Hopefully, when he came to Japan tomorrow they could talk it out and resolve it.
