A girl stands on a stool in a shop dusting the shelves. She has fair skin, brown hair that reach her shoulders, and silver eyes. She wears a green button up with a white skirt and white laceless shoes. The shelves were stocked with viles and cases of Dust. Dust rather then dust is an mineral used as an energy source. It is usually mined and is generally a common resource to find. The shop the girl was in was a Dust shop called From Dust Till Dawn. Once she was done cleaning the shelves she silently sighs in content.

After a moment the ring of the shops entrance chime went off. The girl walks over to see another girl named Ruby Rose entering. Ruby is also fair skinned, and has neck length black haired that faded to scarlet red at the tips. Her clothes consist of a black long-sleeved blouse with a high collar and red trim on the sleeves, over which is a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and a matching skirt with red lining. She also wears a pair of thick black stockings and black combat boots with red laces, red trims around the top, and red soles.

"Hi Latias. Sorry I'm coming in so late." Ruby calls. The girl now named Latias smiles and waves happily. "Is your dad working at the noodle stand still?" Latias nods to her friends question. Latias then walks over to the counter to grab her notebook. Once she had it she flipped it open and began to write.

Once she was done she held it up for Ruby to see. "He should be back in the shop in an hour or two." It read. Latias quickly adds to the page. "You here for the weekly weapons magazine?"

Ruby giggles lightly. "That obvious huh?" Latias simply smiles while raising an eyebrow. Ruby sighs. "Yeah I know, but you guys are the only shop in town that always have them on time."

Latias giggles silently. "Remember the rules." Latias writes with a smirk.

"Yup. Pay for it before reading it." Ruby reaches into her pocket before handing over Ⱡ4 (4 Lien). Latias nods and points to the magazine rack to which Ruby bursts into petals reappearing at the rack in seconds. Latias silently chuckles at the her friend's excitement. A few moments later an old man walks in carrying a small grocery bag. His hair was greyed and he wore a red workers apron over a dark green dress shirt and khaki colored pants.

He smiles when he sees Latias. "Hello sweetheart." He states. Latias looks over in excitement, and then races off to give the man a hug. "I see that my shop hasn't burned down yet." He jokes. Latias breaks away and rolls her eyes with a smile. "Has your friend come for her magazine yet?" Latias simply points over to the magazine rack where Ruby currently stands. The girl had put on headphones and her hood blocking everything out while she eyes looked at each page in awe. The old man chuckles. "She is much like her mother." He states. "Back when my father was running this shop Summer did the same thing. It's a shame what happened to her."

The man shakes his head to rid those thoughts from his mind. Latias looks at the man in worry seeing the troubled look on his face. "Sorry I started to ramble didn't I?" He smiles. "I'll put these groceries away. You think you can watch the shop a while longer?" Latias nods with a smile. With that the old man walks to a door in the back of the shop. Latias looks around catching a glimpse at the time 10:04. Two hours left before closing time. Latias thought.

Glancing at the door she sees a group of men following a man with bright ginger hair a white coat and a bowler hat wielding a cane. The group seems to be heading to the shop so Latias heads behind the counter. A moment later the men enter. The man with the bowler hat had a cigar in his free hand. Quickly before the man could speak Latias grabbed the nearby ashtray on the counter catching the bits of ash.

The man looked somewhat shocked. "Umm, thank... you?" Latias nods. She then grabs a card from the counter and holds it up for the man to see.

"Hello and welcome, our shop takes pride in selling our products to you and everyone else From Dust Till Dawn." It reads. The man is once again shocked, but before he could say anything Latias puts the card down and holds up a second card. "I am Latias. Yes I am mute. How may I help you today? :)"

The man in the bowler hat had a look of sympathy flash upon his face before he shook it away. He then places his cigar in the ashtray. "I..." He furrows his brow before deciding on his next action. "I would like two pieces of Fire Dust Burnt and Uncut please." He nicely asks. Latias nods with a smile before going to grab the items.

"Boss? What are we doing?" One of the men asks. Rather than answering The man with a bowler hat simply glares a the man. "Sorry sir." The man whispers.

After a moment Latias comes back with the items and rings them up on the register. The light flickers on showing the cost Ⱡ16.12. The Man in the bowler hat hands over the Lien and grabs his purchase. Before he leaves however he gives a few words.

"I know that being mute is tough. Someone I care about has to deal with that hardship." The man sighs. "Just keep moving forward, yeah? Don't let being mute keep you from your dreams." With that the man left the shop. The men that were with him were confused but hesitantly leave as well. Latias smiles and waves at them as they leave. A moment later and the old man returns back into the room.

"You know I just had the weirdest sense of deja vu." He states. He then looks at the clock. "Well Latias you might want to get your friend to the Bullheads. They close soon. Latias nods. She grabs her notebook from the counter and walks over to Ruby tapping her shoulder.

"Huh?" Ruby turns around to see Latias pointing at the clock. "OH! No no no, I got to get home!" Latias silently chuckles and pats Ruby's shoulder. "Oh, you don't have to." Ruby claims. Latias rolls her eyes grabbing the magazine Ruby was holding then Ruby's arm leading her out. "Ok then." Ruby sighs in defeat causing Latias to smirk in victory.

While they walk Latias listens happily while Ruby talked about her day at Signal. Signal is a school designed to train warriors. Latias has always wanted to go to Combat School. Her father, the old man that runs the shop, had encouraged her to go, but she ultimately decided against it so she could help out her father with the shop. That said she still yearned to go, and become a Huntress.

After a while Latias caught a glimpse of a shadow following them. She quickly tapped Ruby's shoulder three times warning her friend of the danger. Ruby nods. Quickly the two turn to face the man. He wore a black cloak with the hood up. Under the hood all Latias and Ruby could see were red glowing veins and two bright red eyes.

At that moment The Man's hand began to glow a bright red. On instinct Ruby unsheathes her scythe and slices at The Man. Latias however takes a deep breath before firing off an Ice Beam. The Man dodges both by jumping and weaving through the gap after that The Man punches Ruby in the stomach before a beam of some kind of dark matter shot out sending Ruby flying. Latias thinking quickly sweeps The Mans legs before blasting him with highly pressurized water. This sent The Man back but Ruby burst from rose petals right in front of him landing a slice with her scythe before using the scythe to increase her momentum to kick The Man. Latias quickly came to her friends side but the man fires of another dark beam.

Ruby and Latias brace for impact but it never came. When the two look they see a purple force field protecting them as well as a woman with blond hair wearing a white blouse and a tattered cape wielding a riding crop.

"Huntress..." The Man's voice was dark and strained, but most disturbing was the way it seemed to echo by itself. The woman readied herself but The Man simply vanished. The trio looked around only to hear the voice from a distance. "Next Time Little Silver's." The woman face dawned a look of horror, but she was quick to hide it. Ruby and Latias however share a look of confusion, but Ruby was quick to shake it away.

"Your a huntress." Ruby states approaching the Woman. She turns to Ruby with a raised eyebrow and a stern look. "Can I have your autograph?!" Latias facepalms at her friends antics.

The next thing the girls knew, the Huntress had taken them to the police station. Currently they were in a interrogation room with the Huntress pacing in front of them.

"This is a vary serious situation you two have found yourselves in. You two are lucky I was nearby. You two were in serious danger yet you both fought rather than running away." She rants.

"He attacked us!" Ruby retorts.

The Huntress sighs. "I understand that what you two did tonight was to protect yourselves, but I wish to make myself clear. If you ever see that man again?" She pauses and turns to the girls. "Run. Do you understand?"

Ruby and Latias share a look of confusion. Run? But we were winning the fight. Weren't we? That thought swirled through their minds.

The huntress sighs again. "Before you are sent home there is someone here who would like to meet you." She steps aside from the door as a man with silver hair walks in. He wears a dark green button up coat and silver rim spectacles. In his left hand is a plate of Cookies and in his right is a cane and a mug filled with what Latias assumes is coffee.

"Ruby Rose, and Latias Kenton." He then leans forward looking into both of the girls eyes. "Both of you, have silver eyes." Ruby and Latias squirmed a little, feeling slightly uncomfortable.

"So!" He states. "Where did you two learn to do this?" He gestures to footage of the fight being played on the Huntress' Scroll.

"Ummm... I was taught at S-signal academy." Ruby stutters.

"They taught you how to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" The mans face was filled with shock.

"Well one teacher in particular." Ruby clarifies.

"I see." He puts the cookies on the table in front of Ruby. She tentatively picks one up, eats it in a single bite, and then, not seeing any rebuttal, shovels the rest into her mouth.

"It's just that I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before. A dusty, old crow..."

"The ma uncle..." Ruby mumbles through cookies. Latias pats her back to help her friend swallow her food. "Thanks. That's my Uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at signal. I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing, and now I'm all hiyaaa wicha!" Towards the end Ruby began making karate poses causing Latias to sigh and put her head in her palm.

"So I've noticed." The man says unfazed by Ruby's antics. "And what is an adorable girl like you doing in a school to train warriors?"

"Well? I want to be a Huntress." She declares.

"You want to slay monsters." The man smirks.

"Yeah. I only have two years left at Signal then I'm going to apply to Beacon." Latias pats Ruby's shoulder in support silently telling her 'You can do it.' Ruby smiles. "My sister is applying there this year. She's trying to become a Huntress, and I'm trying to become a Huntress 'cause I wanna help people. My parents always taught us to help others, so I thought, Hey, I might as well make a career out of it!" She giggles awkwardly at the thought. "I mean the police are alright, but Huntsmen and Huntresses are just so much more romantic and exciting and cool and really, gosh, you know!"

Latias just silently giggles to herself while the man and the Huntress study Ruby. "Well how about you Latias?" The man asks bringing his attention to the brunette. Latias stops giggling and sighs.

"Oh!" Ruby interrupts. "You may need to give her a moment to write her response."

"Write her response?"

"Yeah, she's mute." The mans eyes flash in surprise.

"I am terribly sorry..." before he could continue Latias waves him off. She pulls out her journal and begins to write.

"I'm self taught." She wrote.

"I see. Quite remarkable skill for one who is self taught." Latias smiles at the praise. "Tell me, do either of you know who I am?"

Ruby and Latias nod in sync. "Your professor Ozpin." Ruby answers. "Your the headmaster at Beacon." The man now named Ozpin smirks.

"Hello." Ozpin greets.

"Nice to meet you."

"You want to come to my school?" Ozpin asks, his attention on Ruby for the moment.

"More than anything."

Ozpin looks over to the Huntress who scoffs. "Well okay." He then turns to Latias. "What about you?"

Latias frowns turning her head to the side. Of course she wants to go, but if she did would her father be okay? Would he be able to run the shops without her? Ruby, seeing her friends distress places a hand on her shoulder gaining Latias' attention.

"It's okay." She assures. "Your dads the best multitasker in the world. Besides he's been trying to get you to go to combat school for a while so I don't think he would mind."

Latias smiles lightly at her friends words. She then gives Ruby a hug. Ruby's mind imidiatly goes to the first time she met Latias, and what Latias' father told her. "Don't worry. Hugging is her way of saying thank you."

"Your welcome." Ruby says accepting the hug.
