Chapter One: A Gift From A Gift Card
Waluigi was going about his morning routine. He had already eaten breakfast and was now perusing his mail. He shuffled the envelopes as he spoke aloud to himself
"Bill, bill, scam, another bill, bi- wait a second!" He stopped on one particular letter. "I know what this is!"
Gleefully tearing through the envelope, Waluigi grinned with joy as he remembered what this letter contained. And there it was, taped on the bottom of the paper. A thirty dollar gift card for Olive Garden.
Waluigi saved many points over the months on his credit card, earning said points with every purchase he made. In exchange, he could redeem them for gift cards for a variety of establishments. Olive Garden was picked because he felt like treating himself. After all, his taco stand business was booming after getting upgraded appliances, and thanks to that, he could hire more employees to run it, giving himself a break. There was no finer place Waluigi could think of than Olive Garden to celebrate the good times.
He pondered to himself if he should splurge this entire gift card on himself. Thirty dollars was a decent amount, but he figured he would probably space it out in two or three separate visits. Of course, Waluigi always seemed to have the issue of losing the gift card if he didn't use it all in one go. He considered ordering extra food and using for multiple meals, but would it taste as good without the exotic atmosphere? There was only one person Waluigi could trust to invite along.
Wario.
Dialing up his phone, it didn't take long for Waluigi to get an answer.
"Hello?" The voice on the other line said. "Am making six Hot Pockets at once, make it quick."
Waluigi considered asking why it was necessary to cook all of those snacks at once, but he shoved that thought aside to get to the point. "Wario, I got a gift card do you want to-"
"Yes."
"Wario, you didn't even let me finish!"
"I hear gift card. That means your treat. And I love getting treated. So wherever, whenever, I'm good to go. Except now. And maybe not tonight when the eventful scene of my kitchen catching fire happens from this Hot Pocket race."
Waluigi had more questions but it was too exhausting to even think about asking.
"Okay... I'll look through my schedule and text you when this will happen. Remember to pick me up."
"You still don't have a car?" Wario asked over the sounds of several appliances beeping.
"A car's not as easy to come by as a gift card! And even that I had to work for!"
The call ended there, leaving Wario to continue...whatever he was doing. Waluigi took his mail inside, putting all it on the counter, except for the gift card. That would immediately go into his wallet for safekeeping.
Walking over to his calendar, he eyed for a date that would work for the two of them. A question lingered in the back of his mind while he did so.
Did Wario even like Olive Garden?
