Chapter Two: The Shirt on Your Back isn't good for Olive Garden, or even Outback
After a back and forth through texting, Waluigi and Wario had a date and time set in stone. Wario still didn't know or care what place they were going to, and Waluigi decided it would be a surprise. Did it really matter if Wario liked the food if he was going to eat it anyways?
There was never a time Waluigi saw Wario not eat what was on his plate. Not to mention the times where he actually did eat the plate. So with Wario's hefty appetite and the fact he wasn't paying, it was bound to be a fun time.
Waluigi pondered for a moment. What etiquette was needed for an Olive Garden? It was going to be the fanciest restaurant Waluigi would be dining at, and he had never been in one before. Sure, he was aware of the basics of Olive Garden. The endless breadsticks, pasta and salads, and the mints at the end.
But this wasn't your everyday fast food establishment. When was the last time Waluigi was in a restaurant? Actually sitting in a public space and eating was a whole other beast compared to going through a drive through.
Glancing at the counter, he picked up a fashion magazine that was sent through the mail. As he sat back on his couch, he flipped through the pages to see what kind of formal outfits people were wearing these days. His eyes stopped on a rather dapper looking tuxedo, one from Bonneton to be exact. A big grin formed on his face as he admired it. Now this was fashion!
But then his eyes saw the price.
"It costs what!?" He slammed the magazine on the coffee table. "That much?"
Waluigi wasn't a poor man. He had a decently profitable business and a not too shabby apartment for himself. But he was still trying to save up for a new car; there was no way he could justify buying a tuxedo he'd wear once. A suit had to be the way to go however, and he was determined to get one, someway, somehow.
A thrift shop was his best bet. Another thought arose just then. Surely Waluigi would look ridiculous if his companion wasn't dressed as he was (and everyone in the Olive Garden.)
He got out his phone once more, texting Wario if he had any formal clothes. There was a bit of back and forth about why the yellow shirt and purple overalls weren't good enough for where they'd be going, but Wario finally gave in. After sending a "yes" and an absurd amount of thumbs up, it seemed that now all Waluigi had to worry about was himself.
Seeing as he still had free time for the day, Waluigi decided to go to the thrift shop by calling an Uber on his phone. He could afford spending a bit of money, just not the prices the fancy magazine wanted.
It wasn't long until he arrived at his destination. Walking inside, the bells on the door rang out, alerting the Pianta working behind the counter. Giving a small wave, Waluigi then headed towards the clothes section.
There were a few racks in the store that Waluigi started flipping through immediately. Hawaiian shirts, khakis, winter coats. All seasons were accounted for in this thrift shop. They were worn out, but not everything was completely tattered. If he looked hard enough, he knew he could find what he was looking for in good condition.
After twenty minutes of searching, Waluigi had settled on a nice pair of dress pants, a jacket, dress shirt and tie. The whole ensemble was found for only twenty dollars!
However if he added in the total of the Uber ride to and from, it was more like forty. But if he kept the clothes for another event, it would pay for itself. Who knows, maybe he and Wario would get more gift cards to Olive Garden or other restaurants.
As Waluigi laid his clothes down to wash and later iron, he grinned with excitement for his upcoming event.
