Okay, and here it is a second installment to my Fun with Foam household talent of Luca and Street. Thanks to CercandoUnaVoce for inspiring this piece and to Kris for enduring my struggle :)

"Oh, and by the way Street, it's your turn to do laundry today."

Getting the washer, dryer combo had been a hot debate in their house. Both men had no experience with the machine in their own homes. And besides their uniform everything else could be washed in a public salon anyway. But after Chris had brought it up and explained the convenience, and even offered to help to set the monstrosities up, there had been no more discussion.

Some days the washer or dryer ate socks, and by now they had a small collection hanging in their utility room. With most of their socks being regulation black, there was no real problem. Wait long enough and you'd find a new buddy to make up a pair.

Jim Street glances at his watch and thinks. He still has about four hours before he has to get ready to be at Chris' and he just loaded the washing machine. Enough time for a little workout before he has to turn over the load of laundry into the dryer. With a shake of the head, he remembers the discussion they had had before getting the machine. Wasn't it more convenient to go to a salon to do your laundry? It was a risk having that monster in the house after all. A line could break and flood everything and after the disaster that had been the dishwasher… well in the end he was glad they had the thing now. Because now he can use the time the washing machine runs to do something else. Like going for a jog and work off his nervous energy.

He throws on his workout gear, laces up his running shoes, grabs his phone and headphones, and is out the door.

When he comes home about an hour later Luca is in the living room folding up the first load from the dryer, but his buddy frowns a little confused.

Luca walks into their utility room and from the rustling checks the sock collection. But when he comes back empty-handed and still frowning Street pulls out his headphones and asks, "Everything okay?" before grabbing a bottle of water out of the fridge.
"Not sure," Luca shrugs. "I think that damn machine ate some of my socks again." He gestures to a handful of single socks on the coffee table.
"Ah, they will show up eventually, and if not just throw those out." Street counters and heads for a shower.
When he steps out of the bathroom again, he sees Luca in the laundry room with a rose-colored shirt in his hands.
"Since when do you wear pink?" Street teases before he notices that Luca is actually unloading the washer and his face freezes.
"Oh god," are the only words he can form at that moment, and he steps closer. Each piece of laundry has a slight red tint. Jim scratches his head. He certainly didn't have anything red in that load. He is sure of it. They had been warned a lot.

After the dishwasher disaster, it wasn't all that unexpected. Chris had all but made sure they had an idiot-proof guide on how to use that thing. To prevent another accident as she had put it. She even had warned them multiple times not to use too much detergent or mix colors with whites.

"Sorry," Luca grimaces, "I think I might know where my red sock was hiding now."
Jim looks at his clothes and back at his friend. "And now?"
In his head, he already hears the jokes when he walks in somewhere with a rose-colored t-shirt. Hell, if it were anybody else, he would be making the jokes.

Luca reaches for his phone and Jim wants to stop him. They can't call on Chris every time something goes slightly wrong in this house, but he breathes out a sigh of relief when his roommate states-
"Let me call Tuana. Maybe she has an easy fix?"

Luca returns a couple of agonizing minutes later. And Street has found a rental place where he still can pick up a white shirt to save himself from ridicule tonight. But when he notices what is in his buddy's hand, dishwasher tablet Street looks at him confused.

"What are you planning to do? Remember the last time we used the wrong detergent?" Luca's raised eyebrow stops him. "Okay, I used the wrong thing." He concedes quietly hanging his head.
"Tuana said to run the load again with this as detergent and it should pull the red tint out of everything."
Luca reloads the machine and starts the shortest program, still trying to hide the smirk on his face. Street has to get ready if he doesn't want to be late, but he can't help but be nervous about this plan. "Text me when you put it in the dryer okay?"

Still, he is slightly distracted the whole time until he gets the text from Luca, confirming that he owes Tuana more than a thank you for saving him from ridicule. Well from more ridicule as he already endured tonight for showing up with a mustard-stained shirt, thanks to Chris.
