A sequel to "Star-Crossed" "Book Club" "Support" and "Meddling" in that order, also my first Encanto fic for pride month. Enjoy!
"I love hanging out in your room for book club but I've missed our simple library dates," Alejandra said as they shelved books together.
"I'm just worried about my family barging in on us. After both Mirabel and Tío Bruno showed up here? Everything feels a little risky, you know?'
"I know, mi vida. But your sister and uncle were both so nice. I don't think there's anything to worry about."
"I think he knows something, Alejandra. Why else would he have made a play about two female rats hiding their love for each other from their family?"
"Okay, that is a little suspicious. But the library is closed now, which means it's just you and me."
"And the books," Luisa said, trying to sound flirty.
Alejandra laughed, "And the books. Once we finish with these we can get cozy."
"I found some poetry I'd like to read to you," Luisa said, nearly dropping one of the books from the stack she was holding for Alejandra.
"You know I love to listen to you read," Alejandra said, "Your voice gives me butterflies every time."
Luisa shivered in delight, "I love your voice too."
"Then I guess we'll have to take turns reading."
"I know this isn't what other people do on their dates but I'm happy that I get to spend time with you and the books," Luisa said.
"Aw, me too. I don't care about other people's relationships, you make me happier than anyone in the world."
Luisa set down her stack of books and surprised Alejandra with a kiss on her way back up.
"I'm going to tell them soon. I know I said that last time but I really mean it. I know everyone will love you, but I'm starting to believe that they'll accept my relationship with you."
"Of course they will, Lu. They love you and I love you, when they see that I know they'll be happy for us."
"I hope you're right…" Their hands brushed as they both reached for the last book that needed to be shelved. Alejandra broke out into a grin and Luisa blushed and grinned back, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Well, that's that. Ready to read me some poetry?"
"Ready."
"Let's get cozy."
They settled into a corner with some pillows and a blanket, with Alejandra practically curled up in Luisa's lap, and their romantic date commenced. They'd cuddle and kiss and compare each other to a summer day, and Luisa would be home before her family started asking questions. It wasn't perfect, but it was perfect for them.
