Hey, guys. It's TheMasterKat here. Oh boy, it's been a good few years.
Nearly seven years ago, I decided to try my hand at writing fanfiction, having read quite a number of them on a number of sites, but it was this site where I was most interested. The Total Drama crossover fanfictions were my favorite, and I decided to write my own. Honestly, I thought I would maybe get sixty reviews overall for my first story. Never did I imagine the Total Drama Everything series would get as big as it did, and I thank you all for that. Heck, I wonder if I might have helped revolutionize the Total Drama crossover stories, especially since I can't remember any stories before mine that let the readers choose the cast.
While I did suffer occasional difficulty telling the story (and consistently had subpar villainous portrayals), I still loved to continue the series. My love for writing and fanfiction in general spurred me on as I wrote Total Drama Everything 1 and 2. At first, that same drive was there when I started the third installment.
Unfortunately, a few things have changed.
I realized I might be finally suffering the symptoms of burnout when it took a full seven months between the second and third chapters. A whole year and a half has passed since I posted the third chapter, but I haven't updated the TDE3 at all since then. While I was working on the next chapter, I found I wasn't as into it as I was before. I checked the file, and it turns out I haven't updated it since September, when it was already a year since the last update. In fact, the last update I did for any of my stories was a small chapter for The Ridonculous Race to vent my feelings after Alucard lost Death Battle. This was back in October.
It also doesn't help that I have begun to truly feel the weight of adult life, especially a life that basically began near the beginning of a global pandemic. From my first real boyfriend to my first real job, I can't say I've truly had time to do the stories anyway.
For these reasons, it is with the utmost sorrow that I've decided to pull the plug indefinitely on the Total Drama Everything series.
Even if I did have the time, I just don't have the spirit in me right now. I really hate to do this, because I believe I had a great thing going, and I had some amazing ideas for challenges and plotlines. But besides, you all have been waiting for nearly two years, wondering if and when I would update again. That made me disappointed in myself, and I tried several times to at least finish the chapter. It just wasn't in me to do so. I truly wish I could've delivered for you guys, and I'm sorry I failed you.
I do have other stories, however. I still have The Ridonculous Race: Multiverse Mayhem, as well as Whose Line Is It Anyway? TheMasterKat Edition. Thing is, these two are still relatively new experiments. It's possible the only reason why I haven't updated TRR is because of TDE3. I was trying to stick to my goal of alternating, after all. How can one be updated if one is stalled? As for Whose Line, I still have ideas for a good number of performer combinations, such as a Doctor Who episode (yeah, ironic), as well as an episode with Yu-gi-oh protagonists. This story was also supposed to impact the plot of TDE3, where I would involve the three originals in some crazy adventure on the island.
There might be a drive in me yet, if I can get going with these other two stories. Focusing on something I haven't been working on for almost seven years might be good for me. I might be able to reignite the spark I once had. I can't promise it will bring back TDE3, however.
I was contemplating making this decision for a while, and I decided it's best to officially step back. I will have some work to do in order to reignite my love for writing, and TDE3 won't make that happen. Hopefully, I at least put some of you at peace, knowing I said SOMETHING. Or maybe since I've been silent for so long, many of my past readers aren't even paying attention anymore.
But to me, it doesn't matter whether a reader stuck with me since the beginning of TDE, or if they opened the link, looked at a few lines, and quickly got bored. All that matters is that you clicked the link and gave me a chance. I will forever be grateful for that.
If you have any questions, just contact me via PM. I might be able to give some info on the plotlines I mentioned, though I can't really give much info on how the story was supposed to go in terms of who would win. To tell you the truth, I was planning on doing a poll at the Final Two so that you guys would determine the winner. So really, I have no idea who would've won.
Hopefully, you'll still take time to read my stores, finished or unfinished, ongoing or canceled, when you're bored. It's been an amazing few years, and I would never have made it this far without you guys. Your suggestions, messages, side stories that some people made in the review section, everything. I love you all, and I hope this isn't the end.
Thank you all for everything, and I'll see you around. TheMasterKat out!
(For now…)
