It was good to be home. Ianto had no idea how well he suddenly felt as they rumbled over their bridge, looking back at the memorial pictures of those lost angels. Home. He seemed to breathe easier, taking in the green and colourful houses… happy faces… oh god. He had no idea how idyllic it all was, the outside world to drab and grey and… sad. Afraid. Frightening.
"Jack… I don't know if I want to do that again" Ianto said softly "On-line purchasing works well."
"I know… eerie right? Like going into Racoon City and expecting some zombie to come at ya from a side street" Jack agreed with a grin. "Damned Umbrella Corp."
"Don't be a tool…there were no umbrellas. Not even raining." Hawk said as he patted the Captain Kitty Hawk bag beside him, glad to be Hawk again. It had been a bit stressful for him too, trying to protect everyone out there in the bad place on the other side of their Angel Bridge.
The kids rushed to meet them, all talking at once like Ianto had been gone for weeks and he laughed as he saw how much they had come to rely on him to be around for mindless conversations. He told them there were goodies for the houses, each paper bag already written on so they could help.
Jack stood saying the houses out loud and each kid grabbed a bag for the house they liked the best until they were all gone. Kids and bags. Ianto turned to Jack and leaned in to kiss him then said "We should wash that place off."
"All the hand sanitizer, a wonder we are not drunk of the alcohol base" Jack agreed, kissing him again. "Come on lover… let's get slippery and then go see the mess they will be creating with Curt screaming with glee."
"Curt does love making squealy noises doesn't he. You know… he is a lovely guy" Ianto said as he let Jack take his hand and walk him inside, like he was a frail old man or something. Lovely really, Jack was not trying to coddle, just fuss a bit and Ianto knew they both felt a little weird after walking in the alien world of 'out there'.
They were home now, they were better now.
Let's not do that again.
No need to milk a cow if the fridge is full of milk, right?
