Ianto was hurt. He knew he was showing it even as he tried to cover it with bluster and as he headed out of Fen's house to walk home he realized he had exited without his cane, such was his shock at her venomous tirade.
She didn't mean it.
Hormones and such, she was all sixes and sevens. He knew that but still… he had thought a nice casserole was a god idea. Not having to cook, the oven already on and it popped in but he had just forgotten the nice dinner rolls he had baked to go with it and she had come down from her nap upstairs to find him in her kitchen and… well. OK. He was told.
He felt the slap of her words as she told him this was not his house and not his place to be in her business all the time. Her anger wafting off her so strongly that he had stumbled out the door, having to catch himself as he raced away from her. Now he slowed and tried to calm himself. If Jack saw him upset he would put two and two together and come up with eighty three. The last thing Ianto wanted was a family feud starting over something that was not an intended slight. She was upset, tired and a little sad. Even though she had decide, they as a married couple had decided, that doesn't mean she didn't feel something.
He knew that.
He sat in the backyard looking at the rose garden and pondered the frost cloth. Might get frosty tonight. He found himself smiling softly at the irony of those thoughts. Frosty. Yeah. Finally he felt his heartbeat was correct for Jack to feel in a hug and he entered the house to find Ton waiting, the little girl with him waiting too.
"Antonia?" Ianto reached for his granddaughter and lifted her up to hug, smelling her sweetness "Ahhhhh…. You have had your bath already? Do I smell apple shampoo? Oh you are good enough to eat."
She giggled as she snuggled in and Ton looked out the back door in the direction of Fen's house as he drummed his fingers in his thigh much like his Taddy did sometimes, then he turned and closed the door.
He had watched all of that. His Taddy coming out of the house like someone was shooting at him, dodging bullets as he staggered along the path and then collapsing onto the seat to get over the horror of the attack. Oh yes. His Best Boy saw that.
And he knew Taddy did not want anything asked about it, trying to make out it didn't happen but he should know by now that the Toninator sees everything.
And forgets nothing.
Not when it comes to his precious Taddy.
Sam was going to get a visitor tomorrow.
And he was NOT bringing her treats.
