Ianto stood looking at the water and tried not to think of his Lake House. Instead he let himself slip into the water and sink to the bottom of the pool. It was cold. This time of year… it was bloody cold but at the same time it felt exhilarating.
He let himself sit for a while, enjoying the silence in the underwater world down there before he slowly rose to breach the water and hear the screaming madness as the children ran in the goat field next door. He considered for a moment, then went back under for another round of silence.
It was on the fourth time rising for air that he noted the boots and paused to look up at his husband as he took a breath. Jack looked down at him impassively "Babe."
"Hi Cariad" Ianto replied as he treaded water "You need something?"
"You got out the Lake House painting… you working on it again?" Jack pondered "I think it's perfect as it is."
"No, just wanted to look at it. Might be finished enough to put up somewhere" Ianto replied, smiling as he reached out to squeeze an ankle before sliding back under. Jack there a few moments later before moving away and Ianto closed his eyes.
Jack entered the house and stood looking at the huge landscape of the Lake House, the view from the side yard with the back porch that reaches out over the water with the boat tied up at the landing, the swans on the water and tranquil setting and he started to wonder if they were being a little narrow minded with the whole 'can't leave the village' thing.
By the time Ianto entered with a large towel wrapped around him shivering and full of vim and vigor Jack was upstairs in their room waiting for him. As Ianto shot into the shower Jack stepped in behind him, reaching out to adjust the water. Something Ianto hated him doing but had long since accepted he could not help but do every damned time.
"I just talked to Marv" Jack said as he started to soap Ianto's back lovingly "the Lake House is still as we left it. No one in or out, the seals intact. So, I was thinking."
"Hmmmm?"
"Well, I know we said no ins and outs of the village except emergencies and the protocols we set down for town and such but… I have been thinking" Jack stopped talking to let his hand slide around those buttocks lovingly too "Well… maybe we are a little short-sighted here. I mean… the Lake House is ours and the air in it too. So… if we drove from here to there and stayed a few days it would be no different to a building here right? Safer than a trip to the big smoke."
Ianto turned to face him with a hooded look that made his dick sing and smiled "You think it would be OK? Maybe a week?"
"A week?" Jack squeaked, not expecting that but… why not. A week in paradise with just his man and two of the kids. Ton would refuse as he was in cake mode so Hawk and Shay... might be nice "Yeah. Me and Hawk can do some boating on the lake and you and Shay can find out if the hammock still works… yeah?"
Ianto was careful to wait a few beats like he was considering before sighing softly "You're right Cariad. As per usual. Of course, it makes sense?"
Jack grinned as he fixed things and Ianto hid his own glee as he knew Jack would have shot him down if he had suggested it himself.
And Shay all to himself for a week.
Hah!
Still got it!
