It was a quiet affair, no fanfare of fluffing like his Taddy's had been. Quiet, tasteful and efficient, like his Daddy had been in life. It was all over so fast that Ianto stood by the graveside feeling weird about it, even as he knew it was what James had wanted. No fuss, no muss.

Everyone was at the hall, the food and drink flowing as well as stories about James, the huge screen showing some lovely slideshow pictures and video footage of him that would be comforting to those there. Ianto just could not be bothered. Another hand on his arm to wish him condolences, those sad meaningful looks and fake platitudes. Don't get me wrong, some were truly heartfelt but Ianto did not care. He was full up with sorrow and did not have room for anyone else's.

Instead he walked the length of the village. It was silent, everyone paying respects. A lone dog wandered along sniffing at things as a couple of cats watched him along the way, tails twisting like he was annoying them.

This village was his life and his family were all nestled here. He was grateful. Even now. In the middle of loss, he knew how lucky he was to have all of this and he wondered if he was giving back enough. He knew his family would scoff, the amount of free houses filled with low income families, DS families and those who need to hide from the world, or some of them even the law.

But was it enough?

He had saved people, lost people too but was it all enough?

What did his life amount to really. When it was his turn to lay down for the long deserved sleep. What would he be remembered for?

As if hearing him, Walter appeared through the mist, striding towards him with the Piney Outfit still on from entertaining the kids. Ianto stopped walking to watch the tall back man striding along with the look of the devil incarnate, even with angel wings.

This was his legacy.

If nothing else, he was Walter's Taddy. First, foremost and always.

"What are you doing out here in the night air old man" Walter said in his Piney voice, then his smile softened "Come on Tad. Dad will be looking covertly for you while letting the Biddies stroke his arse a bit."

"Well it is a nice arse, still so taut" Ianto replied as Walter screamed and placed his hands over his ears.

Then two handsome men walked hand in hand down the main street towards the sound of a party.

Both clinging to the other for grim life.

Walter and his Taddy.
