Chapter 2: Hoping For A Maricle
It was nighttime and Danny has now been in the hospital, for over twenty-four hours. He's been given needle after needle and medicine after medicine. Hoping that something will work, but nothing has worked so far. All the doctors are worried and sad, "this young boy's life is on the line! We have to do something!" One doctor said. "If we don't, he could die." The other one said. They kept on working until their shift was over.
Back at Fenton Works Maddie, Jack, and Jazz were sitting across a table thinking about the good times they had with Danny. Even though he never told them about who he really was, they still loved him like family. Jazz was the only one who knew, and probably the only one who will know. "I'm sure he'll be okay." Maddie said to her worried daughter.
Jack wasn't so hopeful, he just knew that his grandpa died of cancer two years ago. And he was worried Danny was going to die. It was already known that Danny was going to die, the real question is. When. Vlad is struggling with the news too.
In his lair he was pacing around and thinking, "if Daniel has cancer? How did this happen anyways?" As soon as he said that he smiled as he turned to his ecto-cancer bottle. The same one he used to almost give Danielle the same thing Danny has.
Vlad was a really evil man, and he's proving that now by mixing the two chemicals together, he's probably going to make a super cancer or something. This was not going to be good.
Back at Casper High many of the students have already started putting memorial pictures of Danny on his locker, Paulina has already started decorating her locker with pictures of Danny. Dash and Kwan have made an agreement to not pick on Danny if he comes back.
Mr. Lancer is stil in shock that one of his students has cancer, hopefully Danny will beat this. He decided to send Danny a letter to the hospital. "I hope this works." He said as he started writing the letter, his eyes started to water before he put the letter in the envelope.
"Mr. Fenton? You have a letter." The doctor said, Danny saw the letter and it had Mr. Lancer's handwriting, "now why would Mr. Lancer want to send me a letter? That's just weird." He opened it and saw that Lancer really did care about him, it read.
Dear Daniel,
When I heard you had cancer I was shocked. I almost cried and ran out of my classroom, yes I do sound like a whimp. I was at school when I found out, Principal Ishyima told me. And she had tears in her eyes. Listen Daniel, I just want you to know that I do care, and I do like you, people in class miss you.
Including Sam, Tucker, and Paulina. Which is not surprising, anyways. I hope you find this letter good and make sure to keep smiling always, even if you are sick or not.
From, your teacher, Mr. Lancer.
Danny noticed he cried some when he read it. Jazz walked in and saw tears on Danny's eyes. "Did you read Lancer's letter?" She asked, "yeah, it's more emotional than I expected…" Danny replied. Jazz laughed as she said she was going to get him a cookie.
Danny smiled as he saw his sister go and give him his favorite cookie, as soon as she came back in one of the doctors looked tired. They had to do blood readings before they left. When they saw what was inside his blood, that's when they realized. This was no ordinary cancer.
This is. Ecto-Cancer.
And ecto-cancer is rare, it only happens in ghosts and half ghosts. So Danny must be a ghost. All of the doctors started sitting around him. They were going to call the GIW so they can take care of it, but Danny refused. He didn't want the GIW on his trail again. Those idiot bitches. "So, doctor. What are you going to do with me?" He asked.
"We, we're not doing anything to you." He said.
"Phew." Danny replied.
"But we are, having someone else."
"Who?"
"You'll see."
Soon the GIW showed up and started pinning Danny to the ground, his eyes started to well up with tears. As they kept on making him stay down.
Maddie and Jack were forced to wait outside, and allow Danny to get this treatment. Poor Danny was half dead and now, he might be even more dead. As long as nothing bad happens, everything is fine and everything will hopefully be fine.
But in Danny's eyes, he'll never get better.
Meanwhile with Sam and Tucker Sam has been worried sick about Danny, she's called him no answer, she's texted him no answer, she's even gone to his own house. No answer. She figured he already was dead so she sat on his doortep and cried. Tucker joined her as they both cried together.
Soon they thought of something, what if they can find away to save Danny? Even though that sounds impossible. But nothing is impossible for Sam and Tucker.
They went into the Fentons lab where they found a bunch of ghost equipment, "damn. These guys have a lot of equipment." Tucker said as he saw everything. "I know, right?" Sam said. They looked around and even saw a picture of Danny in his youth. Having a good time with his friends.
Those were the good old days, the times where no one was worried about anything, when no one was worried about him dying, when no one was worried about his future, etc. But now that things are slowly changing. A lot more people are worried about Danny.
Because they don't want him to die either.
Ghosts in the Ghost Zone are already planning a funeral, for if he dies. Clockwork told them that they should to it, Ember was going to play the music, Technus was going to do something and almost all the ghosts were going to mourn Danny. "I sure hope he doesn't die." Skulker said, "that boy was a good boy." Clockwork nodded.
He knew this funeral thing would make the ghosts nicer, but the Box Ghost didn't care. He just wanted to be left alone.
And that was NOT going to happen, "BOX GHOST! DO SOMETHING!" Clockwork yelled, Box Ghost decided to set up the seats. "There." He said. "Better…" Clockwork replied.
They really hope they won't have to do it for real, though.
