"Sometimes I wonder if..meeting someone new is considered a good thing or a bad thing."
8:23 AM
Rin and Len sat quietly on the bus ride, one of the twins was listening to music while the other was falling asleep. "Hey Rin-chan, make sure you don't drool on my uniform," Len muttered as he plugged in a headphone in one of his eardrums. However, there was no response. He assumed she was already asleep on his shoulder, peacefully slumbering and dreaming about who knows what.
He gazed out at the window as his sister peacefully slept, he counted each and every cherry blossom tree as they passed by and stopped to pick up more people waiting for the bus. His eyes suddenly burned due to his eyes not blinking during the intense staredown between him and the trees.
Ouch. You win, trees.
He quietly yawned as he reclined against the navy blue seat, then shut his eyes as he slightly drifted off to sleep. Five minutes wouldn't hurt, right? And so, the twins quietly dreamt and slept in the bustling vehicle, before he slightly opened his eyes and caught a glimpse of a turquoise-haired girl.
The tealette, followed by a strawberry-haired woman, entered the vehicle as they politely bowed to the driver before they sat down a few seats away from the twins. Len couldn't see what they were wearing though, their bodies were blocked from the seats and only showed their head and inches of their faces.
Little did he know, they were wearing the same school uniform as the twins.
"Len?" Rin mumbles sleepily, yawning as she stretches like a needy cat before landing her gaze on her brother. "Uh, Earth to Len?" Rin grumbled again, but he wasn't listening.
His eyes were too focused on her.
The tealette female had very beautiful, turquoise eyes that shone enchantingly like the stars, pale skin that looked as soft as a marshmallow, and silky, fluffy...hair.
Frick.
She was cute. "Hey, Len!" Rin exclaimed a bit, then pinched his ear as hard as she could to get his attention. "OucH! What the hell, Rin!?" Len complained, holding his ear as he groaned in agony, his sister rolled her eyes in response.
"What the heck are you looking at? I've been calling your name for like, three times in a row. Are you ignoring me on purpose?" The blonde female mumbled, pouting in annoyance before crossing her arms. "Sorry, sis," Len mumbled shyly as he blushed slightly, clearing his throat violently. "I was..uh.." He slowly turns to face the turquoise pigtailed girl, who was talking with the pinkette next to her.
The tealette giggled, showing off her ravishing smile.
Rin caught a glimpse of the girl and froze. "Oh. I get it now," Rin sighed in exhaustion, rubbing her temple in annoyance, "Stop drooling over some girl you don't even know, you perv." She grumbled as she glared at the tealette. "Wh-wha- Who said I was- Rin, I'm just staring! She's just- she's just...really pretty..." Her brother says, continuing to stare lovingly at the girl, and Rin could've sworn he was drooling.
For some reason, Rin didn't like her.
The way she smiled and giggled like nothing was happening, she found it suspicious of her. The strange eerie vibe she got from this girl, she didn't like it. In fact, she didn't like the whole girl herself.
What type of secrets is she hiding behind that happy smile?
Whatever, it isn't my business anyway.
"Oh, we're here," Len said as he grabbed his bag, before leaving a bit farther than Rin. "Hey! Wait for me!" She yelled out abruptly, chasing after him before her teddy bear keychain hanging from the edge of her bag fell off. She didn't realize, she was too busy chasing after her brother.
"Come on, Miku-chan." The strawberry-haired woman spoke, her voice low and gentle as she grabbed her younger sister's hand, helping her up. Miku stood up, but before she could leave, she caught a glimpse of the teddy bear helplessly laying on the bus floor. "Ah! Hang on," the tealette says before grabbing the small keychain and placing it inside her breast pocket.
Luka stared at her sister in confusion, "Eh?" She tilted her head, blinking at Miku's actions. "That blonde girl dropped this, do you know her?" Miku says as the two walk out of the bus. "Um, no. I did have a few classes with her, but I don't know her well. I know her brother, Kagamine Len."
Miku slurred in the name, "Kagamine Len-kun.." She muttered under her breath, for some reason, his name made her stomach flutter with butterflies. "What was that, Miku-chan?" Luka asked curiously, facing her sister. "Ah!" Miku reddens with embarrassment, biting her bottom lip.
"Nothing!"
Crowds filled in the courtyard of the school, students chattered as they entered the monotone building, anxious and excited to make friends. Most likely to keep a reputation. Cherry blossom trees lined up against the vibrant grass, the wind flowing with the rosy flowers and newborn green buds.
The sky reflected off Rin's azure eyes, the tender wind caressed her blonde hair and pale face, the sun lightly burned her skin, yet warmed her up. It was a nice summer day. Recently, the days have been gloomy and a bit chilly. The warmness of the sun seeped through her body, making the corners of her mouth curve into a soft smile.
A smile no one has seen in a long time.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a tap on the shoulder, she quickly whipped her head around, making her hair bounce slightly as she focused her attention on her brother. "Let's go inside, maybe we'll find Gumi-chan in there when we find our lockers," Len says as he grabs his sister's wrist, leading her inside the building.
"Hey! I was having a moment here!" Len chuckled at her response, crossing his arms. Rin groaned in frustration, chasing after her brother as she caught up to him. "Where's Gumi? Didn't she text you this morning?" Len asked curiously, flicking a strand of his blonde hair away from his bright blue eyes. "She said she was going to be a bit late since she had to prepare breakfast for her mom," Rin responded, adjusting her black skirt and her fluffy bangs.
Rin stared at each long hallway, then focused her attention on the crowds. Every student practically looked the same, especially since almost all the students had the same boring school uniform.
How was she going to find her best friend?
"I heard that we're getting a new transfer student today, I'm not sure who though. Some girl. Apparently, she's related to uh...what was her name?" He spoke before pausing his sentence and stopping his steps, "Ah, Megurine-san." Len says as he steps up onto the stairs, "Megurine Luka? The student council president?" Rin said as they finally made their way to the third floor, their breaths heaving.
Len responded with a hum, then walked towards their dull lockers, he opened it and stuffed his bag inside before glancing at the tag stuck onto the front of the door. "Heck yeah, I got paired with Fukase! What about you Rin-chan?" Her brother says. Rin, who was staring at the front of the door, grabbed the tag and showed it to her brother. "Megurine Mi-" Her sentence was cut off by a sudden shout that filled the hallways.
"YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Oh, Fukase.
Fukase, the loud redhead ran up to Len and Rin as he ruffled their blonde hair abruptly, "Sup, Kagamines!" He says before letting both of the blonde twins free. "Sorry I'm late, my dad wanted me to help him fix his car." The red-haired teen says as he opens his locker before placing his black bag inside the small space.
Rin, who was already annoyed by his action, grumbled and fixed her ruffled hair before crossing her arms and sending a deadly glare to the redhead. "Great, I'm gonna be late for class now since I have to fix my bangs. Thanks, Fukase." The blonde female murmured, flicking a strand of her golden locks. Fukase playfully rolled his eyes in response, "Sorry, Rin-chan!" He giggles before walking away with her brother Len. "See ya at lunch, sis!" Len hollers out before running in the hallways with his friend.
Rin slumped over the hallways, leaning against the cold wall of the locker as she used her cellphone before texting Gumi, the light from the screen illuminating her pale face. "Agh. School uniforms suck," Rin groused in an annoyed tone as she reached her hand for her colorful notebooks and placed her cellphone on the third shelf of her locker.
"I agree." A voice spoke suddenly, and the sound of it made Rin grin brightly.
She'd recognize that voice anywhere. "And good morning to you too, Gumi-chan." The blonde female chuckles as she faces her best friend, who was surprisingly breathing heavily and kneeling on the floor. "
Her eyes were dazzling, the color of jades and vibrant green. Her skin was as soft as a feather, her pink bulky lips were perfectly coated with baby pink lip gloss. She bowed down in an apologetic manner, fixing her jet black blazer wrapped around her waist.
"Sorry," Gumi says as she catches her breath, facing her friend as she puts on her blazer. "I thought I was going to arrive early but I guess not. I had to deliver something that was urgent." The green-haired female says before walking to her assigned locker, which was across the hallway from Rin's. "Ah. It's okay, Gumi-chan! Oh, by the way, who are you sharing your locker with?" Rin asks the green-haired female.
Gumi groans in response, "Yamazaki-san..." She quietly grumbles the words under her breath. Rin, who was still trying to process the words, was in complete shock. "Matsuri? I thought she told us she was going to transfer this year!" Rin exclaimed as Gumi slammed her locker before the two girls began to walk towards their classes. "Meh, I don't know. She usually does things just to get other's attention." The green-haired female replied to Rin's comment.
They continued talking before Gumi realized that Rin wasn't carrying her bag.
"Hey, aren't you going to bring your bag to class?" Gumi giggles, Rin froze. "Oh, shi- I'll be back!"
She exclaimed as she hastily ran downstairs and towards her locker, it wasn't before long that she began sweating due to how much force she was putting in her slim legs. The blonde female quickly opened her locker as she grabbed her bag, before realizing her teddy bear charm was gone.
Oh, crap. What did she do with it? It was in her bag, but where, if she swore it was there? It wasn't left on the bus, right? Did she unknowingly grab her teddy bear while sleeping and hug it, but then leave it on the seat? What if a kid or baby shoved it in their mouth filled with horrendous bacteria and saliva? All their germs would be all over the poor bear!
As she rocked her legs against the hollow floor, Rin bit her nails. "How am I going to explain to Gumi that I lost her friendship charm?" Rin mumbled, thinking of how to proceed. "She'd kill me for sure." In frustration, she sighed and slowly climbed up the stairs to the third floor.
She snatched the seat next to her best friend in the crowded classroom that was already bustling with students. During her busy writing time in her pink journal, Gumi hastily passed a gummy bear over to the blonde female seated next to her. Furthermore, she placed a red and a yellow one.
As she continues writing in her notepad, the greenette says, "Give the red one to Fukase-kun and the yellow one to Len-kun." A faint smile was forced from the blonde. "Thanks, Gumi," Rin replies before placing the gummy bear in her mouth. She let out a tired groan, then a small thud filled the air. "Hey, you okay?" Gumi tapped her shoulder, catching the attention of the slumped girl.
"Gumi.." She says lowly, in which the greenette responds with a curious hum. "I lost my-" Her sentence was interrupted by the teacher slamming the door and clapping her hands, "Settle down, settle down," The middle-aged female with short hair placed her hands on the surface of her desk as she leaned against it.
"We will be welcoming a transfer student who is the younger sister of Megurine Luka, I'm sure you know who she is." Ms. Choi says with a low stern tone, before opening the door to reveal a petite-sized girl, cyan bangs tracing her pale face.
The girl caught Rin's attention. Long flowy pigtails tied up on her head, dancing with the chill wind of the opened window nearby. Her school uniform fit her perfectly, her skirt complimenting her tiny waist. The girl moved her wispy bangs away from her face to reveal beautiful turquoise eyes, filled with enchantment and glee.
Rin slowly peered a glance at the girl, then froze.
Wait a second... She was the same girl Len was drooling at in the bus. Was she the younger sister of Luka? She looked nothing like her.
Voices began rising in the classroom, students turned their seats to face their friends and talk about how cute the new girl was, how mysterious and gentle she looked.
How her smile made Rin pissed off.
"Megurine-san," Ms. Choi says gently, "Please come in and introduce yourself." She said as the tealette nodded and walked inside quietly and faced the classroom with a soft smile. Rin glared at her as the two made eye contact, but to her surprise, the turquoise-haired girl smiled softly and brightly.
Rin flinched.
Why was she smiling as if nothing was bothering her?
"Hello. I'm Megurine Miyuki. I hope to get along with all of you well." She says quietly, and politely, smiling shyly and gently. "Alright, Megurine-san, you can sit..."
"Behind Kagamine-san."
Rin froze.
Voices began rising again, yet Rin...she wasn't focused on whatever the hell the students were talking about. She was more focused on whether or not the girl named Miyuki would notice if she was pissed or not.
And so, Megurine Miyuki walked elegantly and gracefully towards her desk, and slowly sat behind Kagamine Rin, who was biting her nails nervously in frustration and resentment. Why the heck did she have to sit behind her?
As the teacher continued to talk about who knows what, her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden tap on the shoulder. Rin assumed it was Gumi, but she was too busy writing and doodling on her journal, and the sudden realization came to life.
Megurine Miyuki had tapped Rin Kagamine's shoulder.
"Um, excuse me.." Her sweet voice spoke. Her voice was a mixture of vanilla and sweet cuteness, like a bowl full of delicious cotton candy and bitter milk chocolate. "I know the teacher's talking right now, but um.." Miku continues her sentence as Rin slowly turns around to face the tealette with a scowl.
"What do you want?" She quietly grumbles, snarling under her breath. "Ah! Um.." Miku hesitates, her cheeks turning pink. "You dropped this in the bus, you're Kagamine Len's sister, right? My older sister told me she had a couple of classes together with him..." The tealette says as she scoops out Rin's teddy bear charm from her breast pocket. "I just wanted to return it," Miku says as she placed it on Rin's palm, but suddenly, her eyes widen with pure shock.
Rin tilted her head, confused. "What?" She mumbles. "Do I have something on my face?" She asked abruptly, grumbling before she snatched the teddy bear charm from her hand. "..Oh, I was just about to ask,"
"How are you?"
