After they finished, arresting everyone and worked on the field. Lin returned to her office, where she was planning on making some calls, doing paperwork, and ending on the area before seeing Wu, the only moments she remembered. His singing was so disastrous. She felt ambushed when she came into her office; everyone was in thief
"Dif something happen," Lin asked while drinking her coffee, feeling it wasn't all they were there for. It wasn't sudden interest in her.
Lin, what have you been doing
"Working what else," she turns the. Knob and opens the door with her metal bending before stepping in.
Lin opens her door, and they follow in. Lin sighs, sitting down. At her seat, Bolin looks around the dreary office.
What is it you need?
You fell off for three days. What gives. We had plans. Lin scoffed, pulling a case file, cases were coming out of her ears, and they wanted to bother her.
"I got busy, and I told my secretary to call. Talroq, find out anything new." Lin lied. She found these drifts in time so destabilizing. She knows she must be still working but not knowing what her behavior was started to scare her. She didn't have control over herself anymore.
"Nothing yet. We need Mako to interrogate Haruk. That's why we came. We wanted to see if you worked with Wu as well." Tenzin said
"Unfortunately, not tone-deaf. I will need time, though. I arranged the other stuff related to Wu going on stage. Is Zhu Li on board? I still feel she would be better. Also, Mako is taking on more cases. I'll see what I can do."
"No word yet on Zhu li," Korra said.
"Mhm, as of now, I have all targets being monitored. We amped up security on anyone we had a conflict within earth kingdom. We have a task force for just the remnants of the equailists." Lin
"Good, I see you have been busy. Maybe a rest would be good for you." Asami said, hearing her sniffles and the dark circles.
"Right."Lin was brisk. She was writing out the day's spectacles. The rest awkwardly looked at each other. Feeling the frosty chasm between them and the chief.
She looked up finally. "Well?"
"Uh, when will we be able to observe wu? We just wanted to see if it's going okay." Lin contained laboring over all these deadlines. She had to train Wu undercover and for being on stage. She learned how dangerous that was, so she wanted the kid safe. After that, she had to meet with another informant and talk with Raiko about the police budget. them back to work, rinse and repeat
"Fine, Come tonight going to work with him for a bit anyway," Lin thought out loud
"Your place?" Bolin asked sheepishly
"Obviously. Hope you don't like hearing sounds like a husky bear." She returned to her work, expecting them to take a hint and leave. She didn't mention that she would see Raiko after to discuss the budget. She had zoned off doing her job. She didn't realize nobody left
"Lin, we also wanted to know if we would be visiting your mother soon." Tenzin gave her a revered look. It was weird looking at someone that was your whole world once and seeing that light dim.
He had to repeat it after a few minutes.
"Too soon. We don't know all the pieces yet." You could barely hear her. She was reading over some papers.
"Alright, see you tonight," sensing Lin's frustration, he decided to leave. Lin pulled out her rotary phone to reschedule the informant meeting for a bit after Wu had him talk in her place.
When her shift came to its supposed end, Lin groaned. She had to work with Wu and
Lin dreaded seeing them all again, she didn't want to be bothered, but she agreed to help. When she got home, she heard a noise in her place and barged in. Wu was chatting away, attempting to show the group his progress, when Lin slammed her door. Su assured her she let them in, and they had been sitting in the living room. Lin shoots Mako a look he nods. He was the only one standing as if he were guarding her home. They had take out neatly placed around. Su called out that she got her favorite from when they were younger. Lin was to her room to clean herself and sighed when she heard, dreading the embarrassment to come. When she stepped out, Wu was practicing his scales
" Lin wasn't lying," Bumi whispered to kya, but it wasn't a whisper. Wu looked to Mako for praise.
Lin fixed herself a drink. She was making several notes on what Wu was going wrong. She sat by the piano, finding Wu's key, and began discussing his flaws and how to correct them, adding small explanations as to why those were bad habits for your vocal cords or how it's easier if you position a note a different way. She was calm. Unlike the learn by fire style that was synonymous with beifong
"I thought you said Lin would be a terrible teacher." Bolin didn't hide that he expected this to be funny. Su gave him a look her face got. She was honestly surprised she wasn't like their mother, Or even more ruthless than Toph. Lin was almost gentle. She could tell she had figured out how to work with a big personality like the prince.
Lin shot Bolin a look, trying to get this over with. She had so much more to do. She moved on to the songs when she felt he had a rhythm and had properly warmed his voice up. Worked with him for a while, ones that he would have to perform. The songwriting was Wu. She managed to capture him in a way nobody thought lin beifong would be capable of
"You're getting there. You need to practice every day" Lin didn't doubt he couldn't; he just wasn't a born singer. He could still do it, I thought. She suggested breathing in the steam later to help his vocal cords. Wu listened and wrote down everything Lin was saying. Mako joked they found Wu's passion.
At one point, Wu timidly asks Lin how she envisioned the songs to sing since she's dumbed it down for him. Lin assures him it's not unique,
"But I just want to know maybe it will help me understand it." Wu convinces her to demo two songs. Naturally, it was terrific. It was a song that would be a hit if Ginger or the other men and women in the Republic city music industry had been able to write or sing like that. Bumi called for an encore. Lin sighed as she gave in, giving them two more songs, one she didn't want to give to Wu, but she knew it would be a good song for an image. As she started playing, she borough those who knew Sokka to tears. It was evident in the song it was about him; the next song was a Wu song. Wu had danced his heart out. That was the only thing that made Lin secure about this he could perform. She just was worried about shady characters none of those people could break Zhuli. She was more concerned about the job being safe. "How did you manage to sing investments? That is so cool, Chief Beifong!" Lin shrugged
" Their just sound," Su watched her sister do something she loved. She was amazing at everyone giving praise and realized she had a genuine gift. Su wished she had not become a cop. It was a waste.
" I think you have the wrong job, Beifong!" Bolin said what Su was thinking the thing out loud. Lin was icy to the declaration. Pointing out she instead be helping people
" But music does help people," Kya said. She saw again how she managed to attract so many people. She found her so attractive at that moment. Lin brushed off the comments. She decided to turn her attention to Wu once again. Beifong brought out this device Asami had seen earlier. She pressed a button. Wu's awful first day of training deafens them all
"Turn that off, Lin. It's terrible." Bumi said. Tenzin was covering his ear. You could see where Jinora got it from.
"I'm doing so much better now," Wu was oblivious to the awfulness of the sound.
"You're working hard at it. Now back to work" Wu practiced for a while longer.
Lin finished the lesson, and Bumi began playing with her recording device. Lin allowed it, now that the cat was out of the bag. Asami decided not to ask where she got one of those. Asami's dad has only ever made a few. She didn't want to know if Beifong had slept with her father. They were the same age.
"I see wu is in excellent hands, but I wanted to let you know haruk has given me some information," Mako said, realizing the fun was over.
"Where are you going," Tenzin asked, noting Lin was gathering stuff.
"Out, but go ahead. I have an hour to spare. Someone should be here in a second. He has information too." She threw on a different shirt. It was nicer than usual but still comfortable.
Wu was staring at the chief. Su assumed she took off the bindings that made her hips and bust more narrow and in fashion with the times. Wu wasn't sure if he was a buttock or chest man or a Mako man. He looks over at Mako and admires him for a second when Mako notices Wu winked, and Mako scoffed. The door knocked, and Lin walked over to get it.
"Took ya long enough, Chief." A accented voice called. He handed her bag,
"Zolt!" Bolin called out, he was far to eager to be reunited with the man again.
I've been sick, sorry for the wait was going to do one big chapter, but I decided against it since I'm still not well. I hope this is enough. Songs are going to be like Bruno Mars Esq because tell me you can't imagine Wu singing 'That's What I Like'
