By the time they had, reached the police station, it was far too late; three explosions had happened at the exact moment, and the police were desperately trying to contain the water benders. The air benders decided to head to where the police were, and they sent the others to city hall to protect the President. Mako had dispatched for the White Lotus members on air temple island to come aid this attack, anyone they could get a hold of, and there were so many bodies they informed them they had received a call earlier and had sent assistance. Mako felt his body lose control. Realizing it was a full moon, blood benders were on the loose. Then he felt a gust of air. Saikan and Tenzin join Mako to attempt to get this mess under control.
It was one of the darkest days, as an attack after the attack hit the city. Overhead were airships, the sound of a speech booming over the sky, the promise that republic city would be free and everyone would be equal. Korra attempted to capture the airship as it left. Everyone else was helping out with the mass destruction in the city, the smell of burning flesh and blood lingering in the air and smoke. It took the rest of the night to fight off emboldened water bender triads aiming to destroy the very structures of republic city. Korra was almost taken out. If it weren't for the avatar state, she would have been blood-bent like the others. As the sun rose, the blood bending stopped. They gathered them up, getting the upper hand and control back. When it was finally under control, they were left with the devastation, death, and ruins from the bombings and attacks. Worst of all, Zaheer was freed. They wondered how that managed to happen. Kya was helping with the healers as so many officers were injured. Bumi decides to call the United Forces to partner up as they try to get the order. Korra looked around at a destroyed city, and she wondered what was next. Su put a gentle arm on her shoulder.
"Don't worry. We will get a plan going while Iroh deals with the mess here."
"We are so lucky they had backup come because of the recent events, but Zaheer."
"Don't stress about it, Korra. It won't help; you should relax. Disasters are going to happen. We have to focus on the big pictures."Su put her hands on her shoulders as they watched relief come to assist.
They somberly sat around at the dinner table. Nobody was sure what to say. They had stood with the president while he addressed the tabloids and then brought him to the island.
Bolin laid his head on the table. His stomach had been in knots. He wondered how many crises were too many to be had before the drinking age.
"I think we should see grandma Toph. I think she may be one of the only people who can give insight," Opal murmured while running fingers through Bolin's hair.
"We could also bring Katara, Lord Zuko." Kya looked up. She was so tired, but nobody could sleep. The smell still was in the air.
"I think we should head to the Fire nation." A low voice said it was Tarrlok
" Are you okay?" Kya got up despite being exhausted.
"I'm great." He sat down. He had been beaten. He struggled to breathe.
"I have a hunch the Fire Lord is next." Kya started working on him. His eyes were glazed.
"We can radio them. They will have way more resistance."Bumi shot up, deciding to be busy himself.
"When did you find out they would attack the police station," Mako voiced suspiciously.
"Yeah, not the first time this thing has happened with you."
"Noatak, he said they didn't need me, so I decided to spy on them. They tried to stop me from providing the message, but I escaped." Tarrlok said
"I don't trust you." Korra glared
"Yeah, it's convenient for you, hm." Tarrlok swallowed. He showed injuries that we're impossible to self inflict. He sighed, wishing he could do more.
"They tried to kill me, and I can't run like I used to. I could've been faster. If I had my bending, I could have done more." Tarrlok apologizes. Mako remains skeptical. Tarrlok looked around the room. Everyone had been there, even Wu, who decided to rest in Mako's lap despite doing nothing, but he noted the lack of Lins's murderous glare.
"Where's Lin?" he finally asked after a moment.
"She probably is at work or being healed. We don't know," Su said. She looked to Raiko.
"She went to the Police station." He said, putting his hands up.
" She wasn't there during the attack."Mako suddenly felt nervous.
" I'm going to go look for her," Tarrlok tried to stand but struggled
"You're injured. Knowing Lin, she's probably fine," Tenzin said.
" Let's just give it some time," Su said. She wasn't concerned.
They decided to go back to picking Tarrlok brains, making a plan for the Fire Nation. They warned the Fire Nation and told Lord Zuko to gather Toph and Katara.
Asami and Korra left to ready the airship a few hours later. After they checked work and home and there was no chief, they decided to look. They found her curled up on the stairs of a building near the air temple islands ferry. They carried her to Kya, who noted a strange lack of blood given her injuries. She wasn't aware of anything going on. It had been like the other time Kya was healing her. She had the others leave as she observed her injuries, letting her know they were going to the fire nation.
"I'm coming to. I'm fine."
"Lin, I don't know who you think your fooling here. What happened."
"I tried to stop him. I knew it would be a distraction. Couldn't." Kya removed the uniform and gasped, and she was in bad shape.
"Just a scratch. I've seen worst." Lin tried to chuckle, but it hurt
"Did you do this to yourself? "Kya had Lin's arm. She was getting more and more worried. She never noticed the faint teeth scars on her hands or the red slashes on her. Lin panicked quietly.
"I don't think you can continue working like this. Did you clean yourself before you got here?" Kya felt her age, seeing someone so torn up inside, all her chakras were blocked. So much turmoil in her.
"I'm fine." Was all Lin could say for herself feeling ashamed, wanting to curl up and die.
"Lin, please. I don't want to lose you." Kya pleaded.
"I. can't," Lin confessed.
Kya felt torn as she healed Lin. This wasn't like when they were children or that one time when Kya was 20 and Toph demanded she saves Lin, no questions asked. The lady was killing herself, and she didn't know what to do. She couldn't stop her, but she didn't feel right allowing her to continue like this.
"I'm going, Kya," Lin said stubbornly
"I know, but I want you to know you are damaging yourself." Kya sighed.
Lin looked at Kya, her eyes permeating into Lins. She was gone. It was odd, though. Something she had seen before but couldn't put her finger on. She dropped it, her friend was probably going to die, and she couldn't figure out how to save her, and she couldn't tell anyone what she discovered because of her oaths.
Kya finished and wrapped her up. Lin felt more shame. She couldn't speak but eventually said she was sorry. She didn't want to lie to Kya after what she did today. She knew she was off the deep end and didn't want to hurt anyone else.
"Can you tell me anything?" Kya eventually said as Lin sat up. She shook her head. She clearly lost her battle and took it hard.
"I'll kill them myself next time," Lin stood up and began looking for work to do. Raiko stared at Lin. She was expressionless. He wondered if she even cared he decided he would stay with his wife, that they were going to hide out but he decided to avoid her.
They boarded the Air ship that night flying over the ruins of their city hoping to capture everyone involved in this attack.
Alright, this concludes the end of this part of my story. I feel I went better than I expected think I will do a big clean-up edit and decide if it was okay to work on the sequel.
