violence and language?

4:37 PM {Rin's POV}

"You shouldn't put your trust completely into someone you barely even know. Who knows, they could be a murderer and you wouldn't even know it."

Where...

Am I...

I opened my eyes, numb and in shock.

Am I dead?

I slowly open my eyes. My body aches and I feel weary and sore. My energy got drained out so much I can barely move. The sun rays that entered the room illuminated the grayish atmosphere and then showered over my eyes. They burned slightly, but I snuggled back into the pillow. It smelled...nice. Like cherry blossoms with a small tinge of vanilla. My chest felt all fuzzy, and I felt relaxed.

It was a nice feeling.

But I'm not home.

The room was pale white and was very decorated nicely. Fairy lights were hanging from the wall, which gave the room a nice warm dim atmospheric vibe. The dresser was complimented with tiny small details, and figurines were placed at the top. This room was very girly, but not exactly to my taste.

I yawn and attempt to stretch my arms, but they ache.

Badly.

"Oh! Good morn- erm...afternoon!" A familiar voice says sweetly, I quickly flinch and glance towards a familiar face.

Miku.

What the- why is she here?

"How are you feeling?" Miku asks as she sits beside me, then unexpectedly places her hand on my forehead making me blush. Her warm hand made me feel at ease, oddly. "I-I'm fine. What the heck are you doing?" I muttered under my breath, hitting her arm away. "Oh, I'm just checking your temperature. You were really warm earlier." The tealette states.

"...Warm?" I mumbled, tripping over my words. "Oh! I also made um, some lunch if you want some. You can take your medication afterward." Miku walks out of the room, then comes back in with a nice plastic white-looking tray with delicious food in her hands.

She gives it to me as I take it, gazing at the food curiously. She had made some white fried rice, and some delectable pieces of Teriyaki, along with a couple of steamed vegetables, and a dumpling.

"Pfft-" Miku snickers a bit, smiling warmly as I was torn away from my thoughts. "Wh-what? What's so funny?" I muttered under my breath, biting my lip nervously as I redden. "Nothing, nothing. It's just..you're looking at the food as if I put something in there, teehee." She giggles again, smiling.

"O-oh." I stammer, reddening again.

Miku sits beside me, smiling warmly like she always does. "Do you need help? Luka-san told me that your muscles were really tense, so.." She hesitated. "It hurts but I'm fine, see?" I grasp the spoon but before I was able to scoop up the rice I immediately stopped and winced.

I redden again.

Miku laughs this time. "It's okay, I really don't mind." Miku giggles as she grasps the spoon, scooping up the rice and motioning it in a childish way. "Here comes the airplane~ woosh~ woosh~" I scowl. "Oh, heck no." I gently push the spoon away, even though my muscles ache. "I'm not a kid. You don't have to feed me, I can feed myself." I growl grasping the spoon again, but I drop it. "Come on, you have to eat something at least." She giggles again, making me redden.

I didn't really like her, but her laughs were cute.

No wonder Len likes her...

"F-fine," I muttered, opening my mouth as she scooped the rice inside, I chew and chew. It tasted yummy, a bit salty but bittersweet. "You like it?" She asks, and I nod. "Y-yeah." I blush even deeper. "Yay!" Miku does a tiny cheer and claps her hands a bit. "Teehee, I guess my cooking did improve." I hesitate as my mouth opened to speak, but I restrained from saying anything stupid and only said; "Maybe you can..." My sentence trailed off. "I-I don't know, teach my brother to cook I guess."

Miku stays silent for a while but says not a single word to me. "Yeah, I guess so." She says as she continues to feed me, we sat there in silence for a while, awkwardly eating and exchanging glances with each other. She seemed kinda upset, so I thought about not mentioning my brother to her anymore. Maybe she knew I didn't like her because my brother had feelings towards her.

"My mom taught me how to cook back when I was younger," She says as she rocks her legs against her mattress, eyes scanning her bedroom. "But then something happened, so I had to teach myself how to cook," Miku says and I tilt my head with confusion. "Oh, I see," I mutter, letting her continue to feed me as I redden with embarrassment.

Miku snickers quietly, "You don't have to be embarrassed. It's normal for people to be fed by others, right?" She says sweetly, and the tone of it makes my heart hurt. "Besides, I'm not saying anything to you. I actually quite like taking care of others." Miku said and I hesitated, "I see." After a couple of minutes, I had finished eating and took my medication, it tasted like cherry and I didn't like it.

"Oh, I have to go buy some groceries, I'll be back in a little while," Miku says, gracefully strutting over to her pale white dresser. She took out some tiny denim shorts and a large white t-shirt and gazed over at the blob of clothes sitting on her bed.

Unexpectedly, I slowly got up. "Hey, um...Want me to come with you?-" Miku immediately ran up to me with her clothes hanging from her arm "No, no! You're supposed to be resting." I blink in response, then groan. "Come on, I'm only sore. I'm fine." I grumbled, mumbling under my breath relentlessly. Miku sighed in exhaustion and smiled. "...Alright, if you say so. But don't say I didn't warn you!" She giggles and throws me a playful wink before she finally leaves her bedroom.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," I grumbled and grasped my clothes that were hanging by the door.

I adjusted the hem of my beige sweater, then fling a strand of my dirty blonde lock away from my eyes. I undressed from the sweatpants I assumed I had borrowed yesterday, and quickly slid in my dark beige skirt.

Miku then entered the room, her soft silky hair adjusted into high pigtails. After a couple of minutes of chatting, we left the apartment building and started walking towards the grocery store.

I stuffed my hands inside my pockets, glancing at the burning sun showering over my pale face.

"So..um...Where are your parents?" I asked hesitantly, I didn't want to make it seem like I was nosy so I shut up after that. "Ah, me and Luka live alone in our apartment. My mom is in the hospital, and my dad's busy working. He hardly visits us, but...he calls sometimes." Miku says sweetly, facing me with a smile.

My eyes lightened up with curiosity. "...What happened to your mom..?" Miku's mouth opened a bit, but then she restrained herself from saying anything. "Well...she...Got into a car crash. I was in it too, and I broke my ankle. Nothing super serious happened to me, except some trauma. My mother got really injured though. But she's okay." I felt my knees go weak. How could I treat her so terribly after what she had been through? "I-I see," I mumbled. Miku slightly chuckles, "What about you? I hardly hear Len- erm...You talk about your parents..so.." She hesitated, smiling awkwardly.

I stood silent for a second. "...They're-"

"Ooh! Hey, look! Ice cream!" Miku exclaimed happily as she ran off towards an ice cream cart. "Hey, can I have some chocolate mint ice cream?" She says to the ice-cream seller, who had dark lapis lazuli hair.

Crap.

Kaito grins sheepishly, "Of course!" He smiles brightly, then scoops up a little bit of minty ice cream on a vanilla-colored cone. "Thank you!" She says as she placed a small amount of change onto the man's hand. "Rin, do you want some?" Miku glances over to me with a bright smile beaming on her face. "Oh, Rin-chan's friends with you? Hey, RinRin!" Kaito waves towards me, and I awkwardly force a smile.

Friends, huh...

Miku noticed my awkwardness and threw Kaito a soft reassuring smile. "Is Len with you?" He asks me, but I don't respond, I just freeze up and stare blankly at my shoes, a nervous lump of regret clogging in my throat.

Miku stared at me and Kaito, then coughed to clear up the awkwardness. "Um..an..orange ice cream would be fine, thanks." And she says that so casually like she knew I loved oranges.

How did she know?

Kaito grinned happily, then handed me well-made orange-flavored ice cream in a cup. "Double scoops, exactly how you like it." He smiles politely. I smiled in response, but I felt empty. Like a cookie without milk on the side. "Thanks, Kaito-san," I mumbled under my breath as inaudible words layered on top of them. Miku and I waved goodbye to Kaito before we continued walking in the hot atmosphere of the sidewalk.

After another good 10 minutes, we finally made it to the grocery store.

Miku ecstatically grabbed my hand and ran inside the mart, the cold air blew in my face, and I hoped it would make me numb. "Come on, let's buy some ramen! Oh, and some leeks too...Want to buy some oranges?" She giggles and continues to walk with my hand locked in hers. "Hm..I'll probably buy some tuna for Luka."

I didn't even realize we were still holding hands once we went towards the fruits and vegetable area.

Miku grasps a plastic bag, then fills it up with fresh cold leeks. "I like my vegetables steamed, what about you?" She says quietly while grasping some other delectable vegetables, her fingers slightly being drizzled by the damp surface of the veggies. I shrugged and mumbled. "I just eat them however I want to, I guess. Not a big fan of vegetables...I do like oranges though."

Miku giggled, then I stifled a laugh.

Then we both started laughing like we were crazy or something. We somewhat fell towards the floor, my ribs started to ache but I couldn't stop laughing. I noticed that she had started crying due to her laughter, which made me feel a bit bad. "Ah..." Miku sighs in exhaustion, snickering. "Okay, let's go." She helped me up, lifting me from the ground as we both walked up to the cashier.

The cashier greeted us, then placed all of our things in a plastic bag before handing them back to us. Miku and I walked out of the mart gingerly and happily, hand in hand.

For some reason, I felt closer to her.

And I liked the feeling.

"Ah!" Miku stretches as she flops herself lazily on her comfy bed. "Finally, I'm so tired..." I heard her groan from the other side as I entered her room. "Me too." I yawned, then sighed in exhaustion before sitting next to her.

Miku scrolled through her cellphone, and I sat there in pure awkwardness. "Hey, um...Miku?" I asked shyly, fidgeting with my fingers. Something I don't tend to do. "Hm?" She hums in curiosity, her turquoise eyes leaving the screen on her phone and landing on my face.

"Uh...I...just want to say thanks. For today, um...yeah." I mumbled, turning away as I felt my face grow red and hot.

Miku softly smiled and giggled at my actions. "No problem! It was the least I could do." The tealette says, standing up from the bed as she strutted towards the exit of her room.

But before she could leave the room I unconsciously grabbed her wrist.

"E-eh?" She looks at me with a confused look. I stared deeply at her eyes before I realized I had grabbed her wrist. "Ah, sorry," I mumbled under my breath, pulling away and ruffling my hair with embarrassment. "Um..."

What was I gonna ask her..?

"Oh right, um...how did I get here?" I ask, struggling to recall the memory. I couldn't remember what had happened last night, it was all so fuzzy to me. And every time I thought about it, my head ached in pain. "Ah! It's...um.." The tealette hesitated, ruffling her soft silky hair, struggling to explain. "Well...Last night, I-I...uhm..."

"I found your body laying on the ground last night."

Rin froze, her eyes widened with fear and remorse and a startling mix of searing red painted over her pale face. Everything became clear to her now, the memories washed over her like a wave washing away the greatly built sandcastle. Her tender azure eyes were now coated with fuming anger.

That was an attempt to stop living and she came to save me? Rin growled quietly, her breath slowly becoming faster like a wild animal. "You found me, lying on the ground, in the soaking wet rain, and you have the audacity to take me to your place?" She snarls as she stands up between quiet winces, "Why didn't you leave me there to rot!?" Rin screamed, making Miku flinch slightly with confusion.

Why was she acting this way? "Wh-what? Why would I leave you there, Rin?! You could have gotten sick and died! I was worried," The tealette says as she stands up to face Rin's angered expression, making her pissed off even more.

Her voice, her smile, everything.

I want to rip it apart into pieces until she isn't even a human anymore.

"Who fucking cares if you were worried! I wanted to die, and you know it." Rin snarls, wincing in agony while grabbing her now dry clothes and putting her gray sweatshirt on. "What are you talking about!? I didn't know if your actions were an attempt...attempt of..." Miku hesitates, biting her bottom lip.

What could she say? Is there even anything to say at all? Why was Rin acting this way? Rin was acting so kind yet careless earlier like she was bittersweet. It was a softer side to her that she hasn't shown much, but to Miku, it spoke a lot of words.

"An attempt of what, Miku?" Rin growls, grabbing her cellphone from the plastic bag that was filled up with ivory rice grains, "Like you would know what it's like to want to die." The blonde female scoffs, sneering. Miku clenched her fists, her breath quickening and becoming intense. "...You really shouldn't judge someone when you hardly even know them, Rin." Miku snarls quietly, facing the blonde female with stern and cold turquoise eyes.

"Pfft. That's so stupid. Stop acting like such a smartass, Megurine. I know your true intentions. You're just trying to get with my brother because you want to see me miserable. Just admit it!"

Miku stared at the blonde-haired female with a perplexed gaze, then her warm gaze had suddenly grown to a fuming, murderous, cold one. "What?"

The tealette's tone was now lowered into a snarky, raspy, yet monotonous tone. She sounded like a completely different person, and the low sound of it frightened Rin as chills crawled on her back.

It wasn't the same warm, sweet feeling she would get whenever she was around her, no. It was a heart-wrenching, terrifying tone, almost as if the tealette was a demon disguised as an angel.

"Why the hell would I do something as absurd as that?" Miku scoffs, chuckling with complete sickness as she bites the inside of her cheek. "Why should I waste my time on some jerk that obviously doesn't realize how stupid and harmful they can be to someone else that is also broken, just...like...them?"

Rin froze as Miku's words crawled in her eardrums effortlessly, each word being gobbled up by her throbbing brain like noodles and spaghetti.

"...What did you just say?" Rin growled, facing Miku's monotone dull expression. "You heard exactly what I said. You're not deaf, I assume. Right?" The tealette snarls in response, the tension in the air escalating into another level.

The small angered flame that had been lit up a few weeks ago, was now bright, filled with so much burning hatred that it was bright enough to burn a whole house.

"No. I'm not deaf, you dumbass." Rin responded abruptly, her fists clenched as her fingers dug into her skin effortlessly. "Ah, you're calling me a dumbass. See? I told you, words hurt. Who's the dumbass now, you jerk?" The tealette says casually, making Rin pissed off even more.

"I'm not a jerk, DAMNIT!"

Unconsciously, the blonde female threw a slap on the tealette's face. Her skin grew a horrified red yet hitter crimson, it stood out brightly over her pale flesh due to the greyish atmosphere she gave. Miku slowly placed her hand on her cheek, her eyes widened as she interlocked her eyes with Rin's fuming ones.

She had flashbacks of her horrendous past that she experienced back when she was little, which flowed through her brain as her body began shaking uncontrollably. Adrenaline coursed through her beating veins with fear and terror.

Rin gasped at the realization of what she had done.

...

"I-I'm sorry-" Rin gulped, her voice breaking apart. "I-I didn't mean to-"

"Stop it." Miku quietly sobbed. "Wha-"

"STOP IT!" The tealette yelled, grabbing her wrist tightly and pinning her against the wall as the smaller female winced in response. "Ow- What the hell!?" Rin grabbed the tealette's hand, then shoved her a few inches away from her. Miku breathed intensely, tears rolling down her cheeks as her eyes were colored with agony and pain. "D-dad.." Miku quietly whimpers, then gasps at what she had just said. The tealette placed both palms on her ears, covering each sound she didn't want to hear.

The only sound that could be heard was the sound of her throbbing pulse from her heart. "MAKE IT STOP!" She yelled, sobbing uncontrollably as she continued to scream like a siren.

"Miku!?-"

Why is she...why does she look so...When did she act so violent..?

She looked broken. As if something inside of her burst to life. Her mask finally broke into two, showing both sides of her fragile cold figure.

Her real side had finally begun to show its true colors.
