[Nakajima Residence]

"No. I'm not okay."

Gumi stared at her cellphone.

She sighed in frustration, disappointment written on her face as she looked at her notifications. Nothing was on there, except for a couple of texts from Teto, and Lily.

No texts from Rin, or Fukase.

Gumi was upset that Rin had told him that Gumi liked him, but she was surprised at the fact that Fukase had the audacity to have a crush on her best friend, when the greenette was the one making all the moves. It just didn't make sense, to her at least.

But she felt guilty.

"Sigh. What am I gonna do now? I don't think Rin will be kind enough to forgive me." She muttered to herself, "What will Fukase think of me now?!" Gumi groaned, then plopped her head on her pillow in defeat. Her nose was slightly stuffed by the soft surface of the pillowcase, but she didn't even lift up her head to get the least bit of air.

All she wanted to do was to dig herself in a hole until she couldn't see the light of day anymore. Gumi wished she didn't even witness what had happened in the lunchroom.

"Maybe I'll shoot her a text. Or call her? Agh..."

Gumi stuffed her face in the pillow, and let out a loud groan. Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted when her little brother, Ryuto, had burst open the door. "ONEE-CHAN!" The little boy yelled, causing Gumi to flinch and fall off her bed. "Mommy said that dinner is ready! We're having teriyaki and dumplings for dinner! Come on, onee-chan, get up!" Gumi sighed and stood up from her bare bedroom floor in a dizzy manner. "Yeah, I'm coming." She mumbled as she rubbed her forehead in annoyance. "Give me a sec, okay?"

The little boy nodded and grinned before walking out of his older sister's bedroom.

In a hurry, Gumi grasped her cellphone and began to scroll through her contacts before she found Rin's number. With a nervous gulp, she forced herself to type a quick message and hit sent.

And with that, she threw her cellphone onto the bed and finally left the room, the words lingering in her head.

'I'm sorry.'

2:00 AM

"Two in the morning..." Rin exhaustingly sighed as she groaned in frustration. "Shit.." She silently cursed while slowly sitting up from her bed that squeaked a little as she applied weight to her palms that rested tirelessly against the ivory mattress. "Damnit, I need to use the bathroom...Ugh. Hate using the bathroom in the middle of the night." The blonde haired female frantically got off her bed as she tossed the sheets away from her bare legs, and tippy-toed out of her bedroom in hopes of not abruptly waking up the tealette that was peacefully sleeping on the dull gray couch.

Okay, she's still asleep...

The moon rays illuminated the darkness lingering in the living room, the faint light showering over the dull atmosphere painting the empty and barren room was surreal and quite magical to look at. It was a beautiful summer night and quite lovely too.

Too lovely.

Rin had pattered silently to the bathroom, and quietly shut the bathroom door behind her before she let out a frustrated sigh, and stared at her reflection.

She stared at it for a second.

A minute.

Rin so badly wanted to punch herself in the face until she was bleeding to death. She wanted to rip her hair out until she was completely bald, she wanted to bawl her eyes until until they were dead and dry.

She wanted to die.

For so, so long, she had kept the emotions bottled up inside her crumbling figure, since she felt like no one would understand or even give one or two shits if she were to be dead.

But then she thought of her brother.

Gumi. Fukase.

Meiko. Kaito.

Miku.

Rin let out another frustrated sigh.

She didn't know why she felt the way she felt when she was around Miku. The female felt butterflies crawl in her stomach when she was around her, and her knees just melted and went weak.

Compared to the way she felt about Mikuo, the way she felt towards Miku was a bit more complicated. It was fuzzy and warm, yet anxious and fidgety, if that was a word.

Every time she thought about the tealette, she couldn't help but crack up a cheesy smile.

Ah, I think I like her.

Rin smiled at her own reflection, but then her smile went away.

I'll never have a chance.

She shook her head from her abrupt thoughts, and sighed in frustration before turning on the faucet and let the water run for a couple of seconds.

Rin cupped the small puddle of frigid water in her cold palms, and threw a tiny splash of the clear liquid onto her face. She blinked once, twice, and felt goosebumps crawl down her spine.

Oh, yeah. That...that woke me up.

Rin sighed in frustration, her warm breath being hiccuped by the soft surface of the white towel. She patted her face with it for a couple of seconds, before she hung it up and gently opened the bathroom door.

The blonde female froze on the spot once she had seen Miku's figure arise and awake. "Oh," The tealette started, "Hi, Rin..!" She whispers, not the most quietest whisper. Rin awkwardly smiled, and waved a bit in response. "Hey."

After saying that, the blonde female awkwardly grinned again before lazily strutting to her bedroom, her figure slumped and slouched.

She was about to shut the door when...Rin was face to face with the tealette.

"Ah! Um.." Miku hesitated, unsure of what to say. "I know it's late, but um..." The tealette fidgets with her fingers, and tucks behind one of her turquoise locks. "I would like to talk to you, if you don't mind, that is." Miku says. Rin's eyes widened a bit, and she nodded slowly, a bit confused with the tealette's actions. "Okay." She says in a low tone, and sighed in frustration. "Yeah, it's fine." She says.

Miku and Rin quietly pattered inside the bedroom, and gently yet silently shut the door behind them as they stumbled onto the bed.

Miku pressed her back against the wall, and stared at her bare feet as she gently wiggled her ankles. "So um, I wanted to talk about what happened at school the other day." Miku says quietly.

Rin didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say. What could she say after all? There was nothing she could say, especially since she treated Miku like shit.

"Oh. That." Rin says in a low tone. "It was nothing, really." She grumbled, running a veiny hand through her sweaty, soft blonde hair. "Just a stupid fight." Rin says casually, picking at a piece of lint stuck in her nail.

Miku blankly stared at Rin. It wasn't until she had grasped the blonde's hand into hers, and clasped it as tight as she could. "It isn't nothing, Rin." Miku says in a dry voice, and Rin for sure heard a quiet sob crawl out of her.

Miku stared at Rin's pale hand tucked in her own delicate fingers, and she slowly glanced up at the blonde female's saddened expression.

Rin flushed red with embarrassment and looked away as she swallowed nervously before mumbling under her breath. "It is nothing, Miku." Rin says again, biting her bottom lip as hard as she could while trying to fight back the tears from spewing out of her sore blue eyes. "Rin..." Miku says in a gentle tone. Almost motherly, delicate, and kind. She swallowed hard enough, so so hard so she could finally get the remaining words out. Miku says;

"Are you okay?"

The question just shot Rin in the heart.

Struck her in the head.

Slapped her in the face.

It wasn't until a single teardrop had crept out of Rin's monotone eyes, and she says in a low, hoarse, raspy voice...

"No."

"I'm not okay."
