Chapter 3

Hera and Hestia were sharing a room like all the other immortals. There were way too many gods to have them all kept in separate rooms.

Hades sat in a chair between the two beds rubbing his face.

"Uncle." Athena spoke.

Hades looked up. "Yes?"

"We need to talk to Hestia, is she asleep?" Artemis asked.

Hades nodded. "What is it that you need though?"

Athena knitted her brow. "Do you know who Eris is?"

Hera growled from her side of the room. "D-do n-n-n-o-o-tt sp-e-ea-ea-ak of E-E-E-ri-s-s-s." She shook with coughs.

Hades opened his mouth to respond, and hopefully add something actually helpful, but Hestia, surprisingly, cut him off.

"G-Gr-eece. F-F-Fin-d-d th-the j-j-o-in-ed t-em-p-p-ple o-f W-W-Wa-r, a-a-and C-Ch-a-o-o-s" She told them with a small smile, then she closed her eyes again, and leaned back against the pillows.

"Hestia's right. Us older gods have been forbidden from speaking too much about her. Find the joined temple of War and Chaos. She'll be there. Tell her that Ares is in trouble. She won't help otherwise.

I'd come, but I have to stay here and care for everyone else. Take Hermes with you. Be safe you two." Hades whispered, shaking his head.

Athena and Artemis shared a look before nodding and exiting the room.

"Brother." Athena shook Hermes's shoulder. He had fallen asleep in his chair by Dionisus's bed after staying up all night to help care for the sick.

"Huh?" He asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"We're going to Greece to find a goddess by the name of Eris." Artemis explained.

"Eris? Never heard of her." He yawned standing up.

"Ares seemed pretty upset about us not letting him go see her." Athena shook her head.

"And Hera yelled at us for mentioning her name, while Hades said the older gods were forbidden to speak of her." The moon goddess added.

Hermes blinked several times. "Are we leaving this disease infected death hole or not?"

Artemis smiled slightly for the first time in days. "Okay, c'mon."

As they passed the exit Ares grabbed onto Artemis's arm. "P-p-lease t-t-ell E-Eris I-I-I'm s-s-s-orry, I sh-sho-ul-ld've s-s-t-o-oo-d up fo-r-r h-her." If Ares didn't have flames for eyes then he would be crying, the only way the trio knew this was because of the steam, not smoke, coming off his eyes.

The war god slowly let go of Artemis's hand, and she nodded. "Of course. Now get some sleep, alright?"

Ares didn't answer, because he was already asleep once again.

"Let's go." Hermes whispered. His older sisters nodded, and followed him out.

A few minutes later they were in Greece. Athena held a map in her hands. "Temple of, o-of-" She cleared her throat and gave her half-siblings a worried look. "C-chaos and War. It's an ol-ld temple in the mountains. H-hasn't been tended to, i-i-n years."

Athena pointed to a small dot on the map as Hermes grabbed her hand. "Are you alright, sister?" He questioned giving her a scared look.

"Y-yes, I am fine." Artemis gave Athena a disapproving look, considering she should be resting rather than doing this, but allowed it to be for now.

Finally after about 16 false transportations to weird places in Greece, and startled mortals they reached the outside of the temple they had been searching for.

"So do we just knock… or…?" Hermes asked, gesturing to the temple which had no door.

"I'll lead, let's go." Artemis told them, as she entered the temple.

They walked down a narrow corridor, dimly lit for about 5 minutes before they reached a large circular room in which a woman stood in the center of.

She was facing away from them but they could see that she had black hair, and was tall. She wore a black dress, and her pale hands were clenched into fists.

"No one had dared disturb me for a millenia. What is it that you want?" She asked, her voice low, like that of a cornered wild animal.

"We need your h-help Lady Eris." Athena spoke, stepping in front of Artemis.

Eris laughed a cold merciless laugh. "Oh, have they finally decided that I'm not the monster they said I was? Has my idiot twin brother finally come to apologize? No? Then why should I help you?!" She whipped around, and they saw the pure fury in her eyes.

Hermes whimpered, and hid behind Athena who had taken a step back in fear.

Artemis froze. Eris's words made her think. 'Has my idiot twin brother finally come to apologize?'

Then what Ares had said came to mind… 'Please tell Eris I'm sorry, I should've stood up for her.'

The words from the prophecy made her Ichor run cold. 'Forgotten Daughter, In Greece You'll Find'

Finally Hera's anger fit the story that slowly began being put together in her mind.

"Ares is in trouble." Athena and Hermes gave her a look, why the heck was she talking about Ares when this clearly very powerful goddess was about to murder them!?

Eris froze, a look of a fear flying over her features for a split second before she regained her composure. "What kind of trouble?" She asked, a strand of worry working its way into her voice.

Athena started to catch on. "Like dying trouble."

Eris paled. "Y-your lying! Gods c-can't die! If either o-of us was going to fade it'd be me! Not him! Ever-yone knows him, I'm not even allowed on Olympus, why would he fade?" Her voice had gotten quieter as she ranted.

"An illness, a prophecy my brother, well, our brother, but my twin issued. It foretold the downfall of the gods. Please Eris. Help us find Lady Chaos. Ares feels horrible for what he did, he does, he wanted to come to you himself, but he's so sick he can barely move."

Eris looked down and clenched her fists.

"I know how idiotic siblings can be at times. Though you may not believe it, my brother Apollo is constantly getting himself in trouble.

Our father, Zeus, cast him out from Olympus only a few months ago, and he had to defeat the Roman Emperors to become a god again. Ares made a mistake, and you can hit him as much as you want when we make it out of this mess, but right now we need your help. You want to help us. I know you do."

"Wait what?" Hermes asked. "Are you telling me that she's Ares's twin sister!? And on top of that our older half-sister!?" He cried.

"Humph. It would seem so… I'm sorry I didn't catch your names." Eris muttered.

"H-Hermes…" He said, but immediately started coughing. "Oh gods, it-it hurts…" He whimpered, as Artemis caught him from falling.

"I'm A-" Athena collapsed to her knees and started coughing violently too. "-also dying apparently, but call me Athena." She whispered.

"Artemis." The hunting goddess told her as she held her younger brother, and looked terrifiedly at her older sister Athena.

Eris watched them carefully. "Is this the sickness?" She asked warily.

Artemis nodded numbly, Hermes pushing away from her and trying to stand. "I-I-I'm-m f-f-i-ne."

"Hermes, you are not, you are sick. You are dying. Now stop this madness this instant, I am taking both of you back home. Then Eris, and I will find Lady Chaos."

"A-Art-emis. H-Herme-s sh-sh-ould g-g-o ho-ome, b-u-t I-I'-m gr-eat!" Athena cried.

Artemis glared at her. "Dear sister, you should be resting. Now, you two are going back to Olympus right now."

"It's a good thing you're going back to Olympus." Eris told them. "Because for the spell that will allow us to enter Lady Chaos's realm we must have 3 healthy gods, and 2 demigods."

Artemis nodded. She'd bring her siblings back to Olympus then grab Hades, and her youngest niece and nephew. Kayla and Austin.

"You're coming back with us, right?" Artemis asked.

Eris glared at the sky. "If only I could. Zeus forbade my presence there ever again. Divine Law."

Athena snorted. "Z-Zeus i-i-s i-n-n n-o sh-sh-shape t-o def-f-end h-h-is-s 'D-d-i-vine L-law'."

"And after this is over we'll get you un-banished!" Artemis told her. "Why did you get banished anyway?"

The chaos goddess's eyes turned cold. "Zeus said that my powers were unnatural. Untamed. And therefore too dangerous." The trio exchanged a glance.

Zeus was horrible. The worst father ever, none of the Olympians (except Zeus of course!) disagreed.

Eris sighed, before following them out of the temple. They were close, so close, they would find the cure soon.
