"It only takes me a while, to believe, but...I truly..believe everything will be okay."
7:57 AM
[Kagamine Residence]
Rin opened her eyes.
The sun rays had gently caressed her pale skin, making her face hot and warm. She laid there on the bed, burning eyes delicately staring at the boring-looking ceiling. Her baby blue eyes were sore, they burnt and felt heavy on her eyelids as she resisted the urge to go back to her peaceful sleep.
But then her peace was interrupted by the flow of memories washing over her aching brain, causing her head to ache even more.
"Ow." She groaned in annoyance as she slowly sat up from her gray dull mattress. Her somewhat broad back and slim legs ached as she reclined against the bed, staring at her window.
Gentle drops of rain were pattering on the window, ready to wake her up and tell her to greet the new day. Her azure eyes reflected off the streaks of orange crawling in her bedroom, causing a warm hue to linger in the sleepy atmosphere.
It...was a beautiful morning.
The sun looks...pretty.
The blonde-haired female continued to stare at her bedroom, allowing her thoughts to swallow her whole for a moment. But then she shook her head, her blonde bangs bouncing cutely against her forehead.
I feel better than yesterday, I guess.
Suddenly, her tranquil atmosphere was interrupted by a certain tealette. "Oh!" Miku exclaims, a plate of fluffy, vanilla-colored pancakes and a couple of bronze, yet yummy eggs placed on them. "You're awake, good morning!" Miku greets the sleepy blonde with a gentle smile, a smile that washed away all of Rin's anxious worries. "Morning, Miku-chan." The blonde says, smiling.
A small plate of delicious breakfast was placed on the surface of Rin's boring-looking bed, and Miku stood in front of the blonde. It was a bit adorable to watch Rin scrunch up her nose and eyebrows in confusion. With soothing glances toward the blonde-haired female, the tealette chuckles softly and laughs a bit. "You look well-rested. Did you sleep well?" Miku inquired.
Rin's palms partially covered her pale face, flushed from embarrassment. She wondered if her blonde hair was messy, or if she had dark, horrifying eyebags under her eyes. Then again, what would Miku think? "A-ah, um..yeah. Yeah, I did." She grumbled under her breath, her heart throbbing in her eardrums. "I usually have trouble sleeping, but I guess I slept okay," Rin spoke.
Miku smiled. "That's great to hear, really." The tealette says, eyes dazzling like the stars.
"Wh-what about you?" Rin swallows nervously, she was sure her ears and neck were flushed red by now. It was pretty peculiar for Rin to stutter and act all awkward and shy. Usually, her brother was the one acting all nervous and anxious while Rin would be feisty and cold. "Oh, me? I slept fine."
"Th-that's good, um..is Len awake?" Miku's eyes shone brightly. "Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you, he wanted to talk to you." Rin felt her stomach churning as she struggled to keep a straight face. Her only response to the question was a quiet, 'oh.' Miku began to speak, her lips moving ever so gently. "I'll let him know you're awake, oh- unless you don't want to talk to him?-"
As Rin cut off her sentence, she yelled: "N-no! I-.." She paused, taking a deep breath. "I-I do. Really, it's fine." She laughs nervously, the ends of her lips curling into an anxious-filled smile.
Miku smiles. "Okay, then."
And in those heart-wrenching seconds, Rin waited.
And waited.
And finally he...
came.
No, he only stood there, shutting the bedroom door behind him as he just kept his mouth shut in bitter silence. After everything, what could he say? What could he say to his depressed sister, what was there to say after he had told her to shut up and left her all alone in their apartment?
So, he only continued to stay in silence, before he spoke and said;
"I'm sorry."
Rin was obviously confused, and she lingered her gaze from her trembling fingers to her teary-filled brother's eyes. "What?" She says in a stern tone, letting out a tiny breath of confusion as she tried her best to muster a watery smile.
Len swallowed a lump of burning saliva, his lips being pressed together as hard as he could.
"I'm...sorry, okay? Now can you please let me hug you before I start crying?"
Rin was...somehow shocked.
She didn't know how to respond to her brother's warm request, especially since the two had hardly ever held each other, or consoled each other when the other was upset. Usually, the two never even noticed that the other was crying.
They usually cried in secret.
"Um..sure." Rin peeped.
Although somewhat clumsily, he stumbled over her crumbling figure and embraced his sorrowed sister. A slight flinch passed through her, and she felt her body tremble in a way she wasn't accustomed to. His tight, yet gentle hold made her feel mushy and warm on the inside as though their familiar love was cured by just a tiny gesture.
She somehow had the urge to...cry.
So, she did.
"You..bastard.." Rin sobs, "You're the worst brother ever! How could you leave me alone in the cold, I had a panic attack you know..!" Her tiny, sorrow-filled hiccups ringed in his ears, and he couldn't help but feel tears fill his own eyes. "I know, and I'm sorry, okay?" He whimpered.
"No, you're not, you idiot." Rin sobs. "You don't know, and you're not sorry."
"Rin-"
"I don't care what you say right now, I just want you to hold me," Rin growls between tiny cries, tears smudging on the surface of Len's blank t-shirt. Len sighed in frustration, holding his sister a bit tighter as he gently stroked her back, an attempt to soothe her. "Me too." He sighs again.
And so, the two twins stood there, hugging each other and sobbing quietly underneath each other's tiny grasp.
After a few minutes of silence, Rin's sniffles filled the air, and her brother couldn't help but bite his bottom lip in guilt. "We can stay like this as long as you need to," Len mumbled, continuing to caress her back, then gently ruffled her messy dirty blonde locks. "I don't mind, really."
Rin slightly smiles, "I'd like that." She somewhat giggled, then patted her brother's back.
On the other side of the room, Miku reclined against the door, a silent smile forming on her lips as she overheard the younger twins' conversation. She couldn't help but feel a tiny hint of envy, she somewhat still wished she had a good relationship with her older brother, but then again he never did anything to support her, to begin with. The tealette shook her head and sighed, grasping her cellphone from her pocket before scrolling through her contacts.
Miku placed the tiny cased box near her ear, the ringing tone playing in her ears.
"Hello?! Miku, are you there?!"
Miku smiles. "Hey, Luka."
Miku silently waited for her older sister to scold her, and she could picture the image of the pinkette's fuming expression. Her bottom lip being tugged by her pearlescent teeth, her angered blue eyes washing over Miku's tiny, slender figure.
But that wasn't the reaction that Luka gave.
"Oh thank God. I was worried sick about you, Miku!" Luka sobs uncontrollably, "I'm sorry, I don't know why I said I wanted you out of the house. You can stay, I promise. It doesn't bother me at all." Miku couldn't help but laugh at her older sister's remark. "It's fine, sis. Don't worry about it."
Her older sister sighed in relief, brushing away her tears with her slender polished fingers. "Also, I'm at the Kagamine's residence right now, so I'm fine," Miku says, eyes tracing the boring-looking ceiling of the house. "Don't worry about me, I'm okay." She sighs, shutting her eyes.
Maybe I should...
"Alright," Luka sniffles. "Promise you'll get home safe. I'll see you later, okay?"
Miku couldn't help but...chuckle.
Later, yeah...
"Hey, Luka?" Her older sister hummed on the other side of the phone line. "Yeah, Miku-chan?"
The line remained a bit silent, but then...
"I love you, okay?"
Luka slightly scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, "What are you saying so suddenly?" She says with a slight laugh, a bit confused with her younger sister's actions. "I'm just telling you," Miku says in a quiet tone, not her usual sweet and cheerful tone. "Aren't you gonna respond, hmm?" The tealette teases but then laughs a bit. "I love you too, Miku! Mom and dad love you too!" Luka slightly exclaims, and Miku couldn't help but feel a tear roll down.
Miku smiles, "Bye, Luka."
And with that, she hung up the phone.
I'll miss you.
