Sergio looked out the window of the helicopter seeing streets and buildings getting smaller and smaller in the distance . They made it. Around him the rest of the gang was cheering, the realization slowly sinking in.
He turned around again, his eyes fixating on Raquel immediately. There she was smiling at him, tears shining in her eyes. The golden light of the sinking sun illuminating her beautiful face.
She said yes to him. In all the chaos and after all the terror they had lived through she still said yes to forever with him.
What bothered him though was the fact that he couldn't wrap her in his arms when he kissed her. He wanted to so badly after coming so close to losing her once again.
Sergio never used to be someone who displayed his affection in public but looking at her now, the short distance between them seemed unbearable. So, he reached out a hand to her and tucked lightly. As soon as Raquel stood up from her seat, he pulled her into his lap.
The minute their bodies collided he wrapped his arms around her impossibly tight as a fresh stream of tears rolled down his face. He buried his face in her hair, drinking her in for the first time after what seemed like an eternity.
He heard her sniffle against his shoulder, her arms wrapped around his neck, stroking his hair.
Sergio couldn't keep it together any longer as he cried into her hair, the words pouring out of him as he held her close. „I was so scared Raquel, so scared that I would never see you again." Sergio whispered. „I missed you so much. Nothing makes sense when you're not with me, Raquel. I'm never letting you go again. Never." he pleaded.
Right in this moment he promised himself that he would never let another day go by without telling her how much she meant to him.
Raquel pulled back a little resting her forehead against his trying to reassure him that this was real, that they were really together. „I'm here, my love." she whispered over and over again. „I'm here."
Sergio put his hands on either side of her face. His world narrowed down to her and only her. The rest of the gang around them forgotten.
Raquel beamed down on him, tears trickling down her face. He took a moment to just look at her, making sure she was really here with him, raveling in the fact that he was finally able to touch her again. He reached out a hand touching her eyes, her nose, her lips, running a finger along her jawline. Reassuring himself that he wasn't dreaming her. „I love you so much." he whispered as a single tear escaped his eye.
Her hands were stroking the back of his neck, her eyes never leaving his. „I love you too, mi amor." Raquel said.
And then he leaned forward and kissed her, tasting the salt from their tears on her lips. Raquel's hands came up to frame his face, drawing him closer, kissing him back with everything she had.
He buried one hand in her hair, the other stroking her back. He kissed her the way he meant to when she said yes to him, with the intent of never letting her go again. They lost themselves in each other as the helicopter took them into the slowly darkening sky towards their forever.
