Some random and fluffy Misternette (Mister Bug/ Marinette)

Enjoy !

Ladybug stared at the Lucky Charm that had just fallen into her hands, her eyes widening at the surprising sight of a onesie which wasn't painted in her usual colors. No bright red. No black spots.

It was a black onesie, with cat ears, and she could read 'Daddy's kitten' in a bright green inscription.

Yes, she was late. But it wasn't unusual for her to be a day or two late—with the anxiety of recurring fights and Guardian stuff, nothing out of the ordinary. Well, this time it was three days and obviously, it wasn't that normal.

Her cheeks felt warm, tears stinging in her eyes as she proceeded the meaning of her Lucky—very lucky—Charm. She looked at the future Papa, her partner, and he was shining in red with black spots.

Scratch that. She couldn't fight anymore! That's what the Lucky Charm wanted to warn her.

"Chaton?" She called, her hands shaking as she hid the onesie in her yo-yo.

They'd been trying for so long to have a baby. No way she'd tell him in the middle of a fight that she was probably pregnant. She had waited for this moment, and rehearsed it in her mind a dozen times. She wanted to give him a cute and cheesy handmade onesie. Probably with a cat pun that would make him cry, before he lifts her up and spins her around, laughing out loud. Yes she wanted to tell him so bad, and see him beaming brighter than the sun. But not now.

"Have you managed to figure out your Lucky Charm, m'Lady? It's not child play here…"

As he said that, he jumped back, dodging a sticky, milky white substance spit out by Gigantitan 2, and landing next to her.

"Child! Haha, er...which child?" She cringed, waving her hands nervously.

"The big one there," he pointed out at giant baby Auguste's brother: Antoine. (A few years had passed and it was no longer baby Auguste who was causing them trouble, but Antoine, his little brother) His brows furrowed, looking at her with concern. "Is everything okay, Buguinette?"

She gulped, her throat dry, butterflies—of the good kind—fluttering in her belly.

"C'mere." She tugged at his tail, asking him to follow her.

She took him far from prying eyes, into an empty alley, and let her transformation fall off. He did the same, looking at her with a puzzled gaze.

"I need my Buguinet," she prompted him, already removing her earrings, handing him the magical jewels, as he did the same with his ring. "And I must stay away from the fight," she added, making him trip on his feet as he was transforming.

"What!? What was your Lucky Charm? Are you sure?"

She leaned in, and let her fingertips run along his red and black covered torso. "As much as I love the sight of you like this, I'm sure. I need to stay away." She bent down, kissing the corner of his lips. "In the meantime, I'll keep your ring safe. Trust me."

"Of course I trust you. Blindly," he whispered, resting her forehead against Marinette's. "Be careful on your way home, mon Amour."

She knew he hated that one of them was kept out of the loop. She hated that too. They were meant to fight side by side, not all alone.

Better safe than sorry, her mind called her.

She should put Scarabella on the spot for the next nine months. Not that her best friend was going to complain about it.

Not at all.

Mister Bug landed on a rooftop, sighing, his shoulders slumping: he already missed his Lady's presence by his side.

Hiding behind a chimney, he casted a glance at Gigantitan 2, and casually summoned his Lucky Charm.

He stared utterly puzzled as a bib fell into his hand. The ladybug hero looked all around him and a plan slowly formed in his mind. But, something felt wrong and he felt something was missing. His hand reached for his yo-yo on his hip, and he dialed his fiancée.

"Mister Bug?" Her questioning face popped up on the screen.

"Something is missing m'Lady…"

"What?"

"You," he whispered.

"Are you calling me to flirt? Really? You already got the girl!" She crossed her arms over her chest, rolling her eyes.

"NO! It's not that. I'm serious…"

His eyes took her in for a few seconds as her torso was glowing in red with black spots.

He trusted her, and if her Lucky Charm told her to stay away, so be it. He could work with that, even if he wasn't pleased by the situation. The problem was that his own Lucky Charm told him otherwise, pointing at his partner.

"So what is it?"

"My Lucky Charm is pointing at you. I need you to make my plan work. I don't know why."

"Maybe, you need to show me what you got?" She noted, her brain obviously stepping into Ladybug mode.

He could do that. Maybe she could give him the missing piece to completely solve the Lucky Charm.

"So, what does my Lucky Charm mean, m'Lady?" He inquired, showing her the bib.

"Meep!" She squeaked, her hands moving to her mouth but not fast enough to muffle her sudden reaction.

"Oh Kwami… It's something I'm not gonna like, right? What do I need to do?"

He misinterpreted her demeanour there.

"No! I don't think so. What was…your initial plan?" She sounded breathless.

"I think Baby Antoine just needs to burp. It looks like he didn't digest his milk. He's regurgitating a white, smelling-bad substance," Mister Bug explained, scrunching his nose.

"Go ahead. Hit him a few times with the yo-yo on his back and he should burp," she approved his plan. "Igottagoseeyouhome!"

Why did she look so nervous all of a sudden?

"Wait! I still feel like something isn't complete. I don't understand, I have a plan, I know how to defeat the villain, but it keeps pointing me to your stomach!"

She took a deep—deep—breath. "Well maybe your Lucky Charm is trying to tell you something else?" She looked at him with a persistent and meaningful gaze, her cheeks turning a slight pink hue.

He looked down at the bib in his left hand. "Are you hungry and want me to take you to a lobster date?" He inquired, his eyes narrowing.

Marinette facepalmed.

She. facepalmed.

Why wasn't she helping him if she knew what was wrong? He lost it and pouted. He knew he was missing something. Why the hell couldn't he put his finger on it!?

His fist clenched around the bib and, as he was about to stand up and hang up, he heard a loud, big burp. A sticky, thick, warm substance dripped on his head and covered him from head to toe. It smelled sour, and he had to hold a gag.

His hand holding the bib reached his face, and he wiped his mask, glancing back sternly at the screen where Marinette blinked quietly. Her hands flew to her mouth, her shoulders shaking. Then, she burst out laughing.

"Sorry… I…oh my god… you'll have to get used to it…" she giggled some more.

Wait. What?

Rewound the statement.

You'll have to get used to it.

So… they were going to have a baby?

This time he was the one blinking and almost missed the purple butterfly flying near him. Stepping in autopilot mode, he mechanically caught the Akuma, purified it, and cleansed everything,—mostly himself— by throwing the bib in the air, summoning the Miraculous Mister Bug cure.

Marinette was pregnant!

He was going to be a papa!

Of course, on her way home Marinette had stopped to buy a pregnancy test—or rather, two pregnancy tests.

She was freaking out. True to her form.

She needed a confirmation that wasn't straight out of a magical object created by her powers.

Although, her Lucky Charm never failed her, and she was the superheroine of creation after all. So it made sense that her power reacted and wanted her to know that she was actually creating something that big. Something that needed to be protected from Miraculous magic and fight.

Something precious.

So when she had arrived at their apartment, she had rushed to the bathroom. And it had been there, pink on white. She carried life.

A baby. Their baby.

Marinette would've liked to set up something original to share the big news with Adrien. But Mister Bug had other plans in mind. Or rather, Tikki had a plan on her own. Of course, he had wanted Marinette's help to figure out what the Lucky Charm was for. Not that he had really needed it anyway. Not surprisingly, he had found the solution on his own. But again, mischievously, Tikki had sent him a Lucky Charm that had a double meaning.

Not subtle.

Sneaky little kwami.

She had wanted to keep strong until her fiancé defeated the villain and came back home, but her brain-to-mouth filter had eventually stopped working when she had seen him dealing with some daddy's issues, and she had spilled the cat out of the bag—as much as baby Antoine had spilled milk all over her beloved.

He'll have to get used to it, she had told him.

Smooth.

Now she was waiting for him, the ticking of the clock nagging at her nerves as she paced the floor of their living room.

Though, she didn't have to wait for long.

Mister Bug gushed through the window, and before she could even blink, he was rushing toward her, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing her body flush against his.

He buried his head in her shoulder, his embrace tightening, as he held onto her for dear life.

Not a word had been spoken between them, and yet, she perfectly knew how he felt.

Overwhelmed. He pulled back, his forehead resting against hers. Both of her hands cupped his cheeks, her thumbs gingerly wiping tears beneath his eyes.

Happy. Her fingers slowly lifted his chin, their eyes meeting in a tidal wave of emotions. His gaze was shining with pure joy as he smiled down at her. A beaming, wide, white smile charged with so much megawatts, it had the power to short-circuit her brain.

Thankful. His lips pressed against her forehead, the tip of her nose, her cheekbones, peppering kisses all over her face, and making her giggle cheerfully with a crystal laughter.

Complete. Eventually, he claimed her lips, and kissed her with everything he had. He made her spin, her feet off the ground, never breaking their kiss.

Loved. When he let her down again, he kneeled, caressing her belly, nuzzling and rubbing his head against it. If he had been her usual kitty partner, she was sure he would be purring with love and bliss right now.

Mister Bug tugged at the hem of her shirt, slowly lifting it, his gloved fingertips skimming her soft skin, just enough to uncover a little of her belly.

"I love you," Mister Bug whispered, his warm breath tickling inside her belly button. "And your maman too. So much," he glanced up at her, his lips curled in a tender smile.

Marinette's hand ruffled his hair, holding back the tears pooling in her eyes as she watched him being so smitten.

"I love you too, Adrien," she cooed. "But now, could you please give me Tikki back. I need a word with her."

"Spots off," he whispered softly, not moving a single inch away from her.

The kwami flew out of the earrings, giving a sheepish look to her owner. "I'm sorry, Marinette! I felt it when you transformed and I wanted to protect you, then I got a little...carried away...by my exhilaration," she tentatively smiled innocently.

"Sugarcube may not like cheese but she's being all cheeeesy when it comes to pregnancy stuff and babies!" Plagg sneered, in a sing-song voice.

Marinette shook her head, and sighed. She gently patted Tikki's head and smiled. "It's okay, don't worry. I'm not mad at you. Thanks for protecting us," she said, instinctively reaching for her belly, putting a hand on top of Adrien's.

Well, it didn't matter at the end how, when and why they had learned it. Complicated plans had never worked with Adrien, anyway. She knew it for a fact.

Maybe the simple things were really the best after all. And happiness, like spontaneity, was one of those simple things. She couldn't blame her kwami for being happy for them. And what mattered the most was the result: Adrien knew, and was pleased beyond cloud nine.

And so was she.
