Hello! Here is another fluffy piece for all you wonderful people who like Daikari. Fluff is a challenge but it's a fun challenge because it's very soothing to write characters supporting one another in such a simple way.

Her hands shook and she couldn't understand why she was so nervous. She had won first place in the competition. Her photography had been that good. But being in front of all those people and giving a speech, Kari wasn't sure she could do that. Even if her brother and closest friends were also in the audience. But her boyfriend – Davis had spoken words that made her heart ease slightly.

"I know it's scary, Kari," Davis had said casually to her as they stood outside. Her boyfriend had not been in the audience, having wanted to stay by her side. "But I'll come with you on stage. I won't let you do this alone."

This had made her heart surge. Talking about emotions was something that always proved to be difficult for her but somehow Davis always understood what she needed and whenever she needed it. She didn't even have to tell him how she felt about something for him to know.

"Promise?" The words were soft, a little hesitant and she almost wished she could take Gatomon with her but knew that might still be odd to some people even if Digimon were more widely known now.

Davis grinned and took her free hand in his own. "I promise. I'm not going anywhere."

It was the same expression he had given her when they had confessed. That be it through the light or the dark, he would stand by her side. In so many ways, he was a pinnacle of strength like her brother and yet at the same time, they were so different. But for her – they were her shields against the darkness. The ones who would lift her up and bring her from the darkness to the light. The ones who made sure she wouldn't fall even when her legs shook.

Her name was called, and her grip tightened around Davis's hand. He squeezed her hand back, returning the pressure, causing the tension to drain from her shoulders completely. She could do this. She wasn't alone, after all. Davis was always by her side.
