"Congratulations, Kino-San. You now have a beautiful, strong and healthy baby girl." The doctor handed the baby bundled in a blanket to the exhausted new mother.
"Thank you." The chestnut-haired woman in the hospital bed replied.
The baby girl was beautiful, she had her mother's chestnut brown hair and bright green eyes. The mother held the baby close to her and spoke
"Welcome to the world, my beautiful girl! I love you so much!" The woman said while snuggling the tiny baby.
"Dear, she's beautiful, I can't believe I'm her father. Congratulations, she looks just like you. "The woman's husband said to her.
"She truly is, I can't believe I have a little girl to spoil. I think her name should be Makoto and we can nickname her Mako, it just suits her, I just know she's a Mako." The woman told her husband as she handed the baby to him.
"That's perfect, she is for sure a Makoto, our little Mako." The man smiled.
"That makes me so happy, would you mind handing me to her, I have a gift for her." The new mother asked her husband.
The man smiled and nodded as he passed the tiny girl to his wife.
"My Mako, these are Mama's rose earrings and I want to give them to you. I know you don't understand what these are or what I'm saying. I hope you can wear them in a few months, and you will treasure them when you're older. "The woman cooed to her baby.

"Mama, why do you always bake cake and cookies at exactly three o'clock in the afternoon." The little girl asked her mother, as she had noticed the bird in the cuckoo clock was singing.
"Well, Mako sweetie, at this time, the three o'clock fairies come out and tell Mothers to bake sweets for their kids." The mother handed her daughter a slice of cake.
"Wow fairies! Your cake and cookies always make me happy, Mama." The little girl jumped on her mother's lap.
"Thank you dear, I love you , my baby girl." The mother said kissing her daughter's cheek.

Six-year-old Kino Makoto found herself lying in pain, on her hospital bed all alone. The doctor walked up to her and spoke.
"Makoto-San, we are so happy, you're okay! But unfortunately, your parents didn't survive the crash. "
At that exact moment the little girl went from being confused to a crying train wreck.
"Mama and Papa are gone." The girl went pale as her bright green eyes flooded with tears.
"Oh Makoto-San, I'm so sorry. Your grandparents will be coming to pick you up and will be taking your house in Tokyo. But don't worry you won't be taking a plane." The doctor smiled.
Makoto felt her rose earrings, as she did, she felt her parents' touch

Makoto's grandparents never really cared for her, leading her to self-teach, cooking, martial arts and more skills. They eventually left her on her own when she turned ten. The only things she really had left from her family were pictures, recipes, and her rose earrings.
