Evil Spongebob

Chapter 1

Spongebob awoke to the blaring of his fog horn. He was under the sheet of his bed when his yellow finger stretched from underneath to shut his alarm off.

Suddenly, he sat up and threw his arms up in the air, making his blanket fly over his bed with a smile that stretched to his freckled cheeks.

He turned over to look at his bedside where Gary was sleeping before the sound of the fog horn had woke him up. The snail was now out of his shell and was looking up at the yellow sponge with lids partly closed.

"Good morning, Gary!" Spongebob sung to his pet snail.

A yawn escaped from Gary before he too, meowed a good morning.

Spongebob leaped out of his bed and onto the ground. He went over to his calendar with an extra spring to his step. His finger traced to the current date where it was marked in red writing. "Gary, You know what today is?"

Gary blinked, awaiting for an answer.

Spongebob showed him the calendar. "Today is the Day of the Gifting where I give gifts to all my friends." Spongebob set a nicely wrapped present in front of Gary. "Here ya go! This one is for you."

Gary shredded the wrapping with his teeth to reveal a blue blanket stripped with red. Gary's eyes widened, and he meowed, stretching the vowel.

"That's right!" Spongebob said. "I know how cold that shell of yours has been getting." He opened his bedroom door, looking over his shoulder at the snail as he spoke. "I better hand out the rest of these gifts. They are not going to unravel themselves you know. Enjoy yours, Gary."

Gary meowed one last time before the yellow sponge entered out of his pineapple home and strolled down to Squidward's. He knocked, calling out to him multiple times. Squidward answered in annoyance while rubbing his head as if to clear a headache.

"Why in the world are you knocking at this time?" Squidward groaned. "I am trying to sleep!"

"Right now you're not. Maybe at one point you were, but right now you're standing in front of me."

"I—uh—whatever!" Squidward waved his tentacles in front of him as if to wave away the confusion. "What do you want so I can go back to sleep?"

Spongebob chuckled before replying, "Sleep? It's only seven in the morning."

"Well, if you hadn't kept me awake by all the noise you were making last night, maybe this wouldn't be the case."

"Sorry, Squidward. I wanted to make sure everyone's present was perfect for today's Day of the Gifting."

"That day doesn't even exist."

"Sure it does. I made it myself. Here, I made you a present too." Spongebob handed Squidward his present.

Squidward looked dumbfounded at the gift. He tore the wrapping apart to reveal a clarinet but made of wood. He was actually quite surprised and maybe even a little happy?

"This is...nice. Where did you even get this?" Squidward asked, examining it.

"Oh, I bought it off of some old lady who one used it once. She said this clarinet is one of its kind." Spongebob replied.

"An...old lady? I'm going to have to scrub this one twenty times over…" Squidward muttered.

"Do you like it?"

"Yeah, yeah. Sure. Thanks."

"Great! See ya, Squidward!" With that, Spongebob left Squidward's house with a wave before he went next door to a familiar brown rock home.

Spongebob lifted his hand to knock, but the rock started opening as if right on cue. Patrick, who was stuck to the bottom of the rock, saw Spongebob standing there with his friendly smile.

"Spongebob!" Said Patrick, pleasantly surprised. He loosened from the rock and fell on his furniture with a clash. He quickly recovered from the impact and leaped out of his home to greet him.

Spongebob, who had his hands behind his back, smiled. "Hi, Patrick." His hands reached out in front of him holding a big white box decorated with a red bow on top. "Happy Day of the Gifting!"

Patrick's pupils enlarged in awe and excitement while gazing at the present. "A…gift? For me?" He paused in taking the gift, the smile leaving his face. "Oh! I didn't get you a present."

"That's okay if you didn't. Besides, this is a holiday where I am the one gifting everyone."

"But I want to get you something too! No—wait! I got it!" Patrick turned his back on Spongebob, piling sand together into a heap. Spongebob got on his toes, trying to look over his friend's shoulder when Patrick told him, "No peeking!"

Spongebob stood idly by when Patrick turned back around holding his present behind his back before proudly presenting it to the sponge. "Happy Day of the Gifting!" He held out a replica of a jellyfishing net made out of sand that was so well pressed together that it somehow didn't lose form.

"Wow! A sand replica of jellyfish net!" Spongebob took it. "Thanks! I'll have to bring it back to my place for safekeeping." Spongebob tucked the handle of the net in the back pocket of his pants.

Patrick took Spongebob's gift and without hesitation, threw his hands from side to side as he ripped the wrapping paper apart. He opened the small cardboard box when his eyes met with a blue plastic one, and he hugged it gratefully. "A blue box! Yipee!"

"Pat, you're supposed to open the box," Spongebob pointed out.

"Oh." Patrick opened it, revealing something blue and shiny. His eyes sparkled and his excitement doubled. "The wristwatch from the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy fan collection! Thank you, Spongebob. You're the bestest friend a starfish could ask for."

"No, you're the best, pal. Have fun with your gift. I still got more of them to deliver."

"Oh, okay. See ya later." Patrick waved.

Spongebob waved back, following the trail over to Sandy's treedome. He wore his water helmet with his hands clutched around a bouquet of freshly picked flowers that he held close to his chest. These ones were different from the ones he usually brought for it had red wrapping and a purple ribbon tied around the stems.

When he arrived, he heard a lot of 'hi-yahs' coming from inside. He pressed his face to the dome to see what the commotion was.

Sandy was riding on the stem of an overgrown Venus Flytrap like she were in a rodeo and had a lasso that she used to try and smack it down into submission. The Venus Flytrap twisted and turned, showing its large mouth and growling at her with the intent of eating her. Sandy managed to swing the lasso around the Venus Flytrap's large mouth and pushed it to the ground.

Spongebob looked on, amazed.

"And that's how you take the bull by the horn!" Sandy said, standing over the Venus Flytrap with a foot over its head.

With a free hand, Spongebob went over to the door and knocked.

Sandy came over, opened the door for him, and welcomed him inside.

"Howdy, Spongebob. Didn't know ya'll were coming. I could of made some pie."

"That's okay, Sandy." Spongebob reassured. " But what's all that?" He pointed at the tubes and glass beakers that were set on her table. "Are you working on a new experiment?"

"Mhm." Sandy looked over at the table and then at the Venus Flytrap. "Been tryna make a Venus Flytrap that would eat these pesky weeds growin' on my lawn, but I may have screwed somethin' up to make it want to eat me instead. With a couple of adjustments, I'm sure I can get it going on the right track."

"I guess once you're done you can rename it a Venus Weedtrap."

"Exactly!" Sandy turned back to Spongebob. "That's right! I forgot to ask. Did ya came here for somethin'?"

For some reason, Spongebob's palms became sweaty. "Uh...yeah! I just came because today is a special day where I give gifts to all my friends. The Day of the Gifting as I like to call it, and this is my gift to you."

Spongebob held up the flowers, and Sandy was awed by the gift. She took it gratefully.

"Why, these flowers are just dandy! I'll put em' in a vase once I get this whole mess cleaned up. Thanks Spongebob." Smiled Sandy.

"No problem, senorita." Spongebob chuckled, flicking his wrist down in front of him like it was joke. Sandy gave a little chuckle herself. "Oh!" Suddenly Spongebob perked up. "I still have another stop after this one, but I'll catch you later."

"Alrighty then. Enjoy deliverin' all the other presents."

"You bet I will. See you later, Sandy!"

"See ya!"

As Spongebob went down the road that took him to the Krusty Krab, he couldn't help but hum in a cheerful manner. He waved to a few citizens he was fairly acquainted with until he reached his destination.

He attempted to push himself in through the double doors to the Krusty Krab; However, it didn't work.

Spongebob looked at the empty restaurant and rubbed his chin in puzzlement. "That's funny. Mr. Krabs is always here at least two hours before opening hours."

"Right behind ya, my boy." Mr. Krabs voice suddenly came from behind him.

"Oh, there you are Mr. Krabs. I thought you were already inside the restaurant." Said Spongebob.

Mr. Krabs rubbed the back of his neck as a nervous gesture. "Yeah, well, I was kind of busy and I lost track of time."

Mr. Krabs reflected in his thoughts about how he was spending time having a picnic with his favorite dollar. He cleared the thought bubble away like he didn't want Spongebob to see and brought himself back to reality.

"Anyway, let me open these doors for you." Mr. Krabs reached into his back pocket to get the keys while Spongebob took out his gift.

"By the way, I have a gift for you Mr. Krabs."

Mr. Krabs became eager by the announcement. "A gift? Well, why didn't you say so? Give it here."

Spongebob lifted up the present. "Here you go!"

Mr. Krabs took the gift and opened it. "Oh! A piggy bank!" He put it to his ear and shook it.

"Is there any money inside?"

"No, it's just the piggy bank."

"Oh. Well, the piggy bank is a fine gift on its own. I could use another to fill all me money, but maybe next time leave at least a penny for me."

"Aye, aye, sir!" Spongebob saluted.

Mr. Krabs again put a claw to his back pocket to retrieve the keys to open up the Krusty Krab.

Meanwhile, Plankton had watched the yellow sponge from his telescope at the Chum Bucket. He sat on his seat in his lab, discussing with his computer wife, Karen, the scene he'd been witnessing.

"That Spongebob. He's good. Perhaps, too good. Just look at him."

"You're not going to get the secret formula watching him through a telescope. It's about time you come up with a new better plan." Her eyes appeared on the screen in the form of pixels, seeming exhausted by Plankton's continuous observation.

"Quiet! I'm thinking." Plankton moved his eye from the telescope. He furrowed his brows and looked at the ground in deep concentration with one hand on his cheek, and the other holding his elbow.

"There's got to be a way to get through to that yellow sponge, but everything I tried so far hasn't worked. I tried using temptations-"

Plankton had a flashback for when he disguised himself as a champion at Jellyfish Field, giving away a free golden net to whoever could catch the most jellyfish. He stood on a pedestal for leverage and as determined by Plankton, he declared Spongebob the winner, but all he had to do was one thing before he could claim his prize.

"Just answer me what the secret formula is and the golden net is all yours."

"Oh! That's an easy one," Spongebob had said.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and say it!" Plankton was on the edge of his pedestal.

Spongebob gazed at his competitors and turned to Plankton. "Sorry, I can't just say it, Mr. Jellyfish Champion, sir."

"Well, that's okay. Here, you can whisper it to me." Plankton cupped his nonexistent ears, leaning towards the sponge.

Spongebob's smile faded. "No, I mean I am not allowed to. It's against my work regulations."

"But you want the net don't you? It's made of gold." Plankton added to his mocking tone by waving the net in front of him.

"Sure I do," Spongebob's eyes looked up into the heavens with arms stretched above him. A holy light shone down at him as his eyes sparkled. "But I cannot dishonor the purity or the greatness—the greatness that is the secret formula. For what am I; who am I if I dare dishonor its value and secrecy. These lips will no longer be deemed worthy if the secret is outspoken and known to another."

"You're kidding, right?"

The holy light turned off like a light switch. "Nope!"

Defeated and deflated, Plankton fell back on his pedestal and muttered to himself. "Ugh, I should of known that this plan wouldn't work."

His temptation flashback had ended as he continued, "-I also tried using fear-"

Another flashback came to him.

Plankton rode on a giant mechanical spider that was made to look like the real thing. He had Spongebob cornered to a wall inside the Krusty Krab shaking and whimpering as he looked at the giant mechanical spider.

"What do you have to say now, Squarepants?"

"I hate spiders!" Cried Spongebob.

Plankton simply laughed and had leaned the spiderbot closer. Spongebob allowed his sponge body to lay flat against the corner as sweat droplets sprung from the side of his head.

"You have one last chance. Give me the secret formula or else you're as good as gone!"

Spongebob examined his surroundings for options that could possibly save him while Plankton continued to guffaw at his apparent success of drawing such a fearful response that he thought would leave Spongebob no other choice.

With a deep breath, Spongebob stood straight took out his bottle of bubbles and blew into the bubble wand. A bubble floated into the exhaust pipe of the spiderbot that caused a back and forth jerking motion. Smoke came from spiderbot as Plankton held on to dear life. "Wh-What's going on?"

"Mayday! Mayday! Bubble detected!" Came the distress signal.

"Bubble?" Plankton lost grip of the spiderbot and flung out of it.

Just then the spiderbot exploded in a fiery ball of flame. Damaged parts of the mechanical spider rained inside the restaurant. Plankton lay on the ground, moaning while various parts of the spiderbot fell around him until one fell on top of him.

The fear flashback ended and Plankton rattled with anger. "What do I have to do in order to get what I want? If only—if only he was loyal to me instead of helping that cheapskate Mr. Krabs!"

Karen interrupted Plankton's irritation. "You invented a helmet that induced corruption and evil a long time ago and you still haven't used it for anything."

A light bulb lit up in Plankton's head. He rubbed his hands together, having a mischievous glint in his eyes while a shadow casts on his face. "That's it! If I can't force Spongebob to bring me the recipe as his good-natured self, then I'll just have to make him evil!"

He practically hopped off his chair and zoomed for the helmet and remote that was dug deep within a heap of other mechanical junk he had laid on the corner of his lab. He held it up victoriously. "Yes, this is the one—the one thing I need." On one hand he held the helmet and on the other he held the remote above him. In comparison, the invention was bigger than he was.

"With a few adjustments I can make it look like an ordinary hat. That formula is going to be mine now, Krabs!" The light in the room threw his shadow on the wall, reflecting his cackling as lightning struck from outside his window.

Author Note: That's the first chapter! Let me know your thoughts. Fun fact: This fanfic was written four years ago as a draft, but I never got around to editing or writing the last chapter. My writing skills since then have improved a bit too.
