"How did this even happen?" Harry groaned.

Their journey had been going fairly well. The sun shined, the waves were kind, even the breeze worked with them. Given the history of the twins, of all it went miraculously well! So well that both brothers commented on the thirty minutes of (relative) peace.

Coincidentally, a giant whirlpool appeared ahead of their boat.

Harry held to the side of the rocking boat. He accepted the fact that they really should've known the peace wouldn't last long. As Harry clung for dear life, wondering if he could use his magic to keep himself from falling overboard, Luffy stood at his side to unload the contents of a large barrel.

(Pfft, who needs a thing like a water supply anyway?)

Harry. Harry needed a water supply. "Hey, what are you doing?"

Luffy finished dumping out the last of the water before jumping into the bucket. "We should make it if we stay in this barrel."

"Do you really think that it will last against a whirlpool of all things?" Harry asked, more than a little skeptical.

Luffy nodded in his usual, optimistic way. Without any usable option (Harry wasn't sure his magic could handle the strain of holding them both), Harry jumped in alongside. He did cast an undetectable extension charm on the barrel. Even with the power of rubber arms and their scrawniness, two teenage boys wouldn't fit inside.

Once they were inside, Luffy put the lid back.

Luffy placed the lid back on, and soon the two were jostled around as the whirlpool sucked them in, bumping into each other and the walls around them (the charm didn't extend far as the two still needed to get out once it was safe). After a few moments, the barrel stilled and everything seemed calm. However, it felt like they were still in the ocean, so they couldn't get out just yet.

Eventually, the rocking of the barrel lulled them to sleep.

Voices argued from outside the barrel. Harry, still stuck somewhere in dreamland, strained to hear them clearly.

"You can't, Lady Alvida will kill us if she found out!" a rather timid voice shouted.

"She won't if you keep your mouth shut," another more scratchy voice warned.

A third voice then spoke up. "Hold on, boys. I'll open her the old fashion way." They cracked their knuckles.

Harry nudged his twin. "Luffy! Time to get up!" He didn't want to see what would happen to a magically expanding barrel when broken.

Luffy woke up in a quick flash. He stood up tall, stretching out his limbs. The lid went flying. "I SLEPT SO GREAT!" He shouted in his usual carefree manner. He leaped out from the barrel, reaching back inside for Harry. "That wasn't so bad, was it, Harry?"

Harry got to his feet, considering. "I'd say that was one of your better plans." He glanced to the men standing in front of them, clearly the owner of the voices. Only seeing they were one short, Harry looked around.

The third man sprawled out on the floor knocked out. Harry reasoned the barrel lid hit him. Or Luffy's fist. One of the two.

The twins looked up at the pirates. "Who the hell are you guys?"

"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU TWO!" The two taller guys shouted.

"Your friend will catch a cold sleeping like that," Luffy added casually.

Harry eyed the third person (a third pink-haired kid) practically hiding off to the side. Smaller than his fellows, and shaking from fright. While the other two yelled at Luffy and Harry (mainly at Luffy for knocking out their friend), the third cowered and flinched from them. Harry gave a passing chuckle to the two giving his brother a hard time. That done, he walked to the smaller kid.

Said kid flinched as Harry approached. Harry held up his hands, stepping back to keep from scaring him. "Would you mind telling us where we are? We got a little lost."

The boy barely opened his mouth to answer before Harry was shoved aside. He looked to see Luffy standing in his place. "Forget about that! Do you have any food?"

Harry pushed himself to his feet. "Luffy, can we worry about that later?"

Looking back, the two intimidating men pulled out swords. "Are you two messing with us?" One of them asked. "Don't you know we're vicious pirates?"

Harry stood between the two now declared pirates and his younger twin. With a flick of his wrist, he cast Expelliarmus. The swords flew out of their hands and lodged themselves into the ceiling. The pirates watched in shock and confusion.

"Pirates probably but vicious? Not so much." Harry mocked.

Luffy grinned at the now whimpering men. "What's with them?"

The pirates started to cower in fear over Harry's magic. "Just wait, who are you two?" One of them asked.

"Oh us," Luffy said. "My name's Monkey D. Luffy." He nodded over to his brother. "And this his my twin brother Harry!"

"Hi." Harry greeted with a wave.

The 'vicious pirates' screamed and dragged their unconscious friend out of the room.

That left the twins with the pink-haired kid.

"What just happened?" The boy asked.

"You got me," Luffy replied, just as confused. He hadn't been paying too much attention to what the other two when doing before Harry used his magic. The need for food...so strong...

Harry simply shrugged, casting Accio to get back their stuff. "I wouldn't worry about it,"

The boy decided not to follow that advice. "Quick, you two have to make a run for it. If those guys come back with their buddies, they will kill you both on the spot!"

"I don't care about that. I'm hungry," Luffy said, sniffing the air for food as though he were a dog.

"But there are hundreds of them up there who are looking for any excuse to kill!" The boy insisted.

That made Harry concerned. But he knew Luffy wasn't going to care. Harry figured they would have to try to sneak off this ship before they attract any more trouble. First thing's first, though, Luffy was determined to get something to eat. The small boy grabbed onto Luffy's arm and dug his heels into the floor to stop him, but Luffy just kept going. Harry held the door opened to make sure the kid's head didn't get caught.

A short while later, they found a small storage room. Luffy jumped down the small set of stairs looking around excitingly, wondering what to open first. Harry sat down next to the boy who, for some reason, was still with them.

"So what's your name anyway?" Harry asked him.

The boy looked up in surprise when Harry spoke to him. "Oh, my name is Koby. You said your names were Luffy and Harry, right?"

Harry nodded as Luffy opened up a crate of apples and started to dig in, making sure he tossed one to Harry first. Harry caught the apple and turned back to Koby. "Those two guys earlier said they were pirates. Are we on their ship?"

Koby shook his head. "This is a passenger ship that pirates are robbing," He explained. "Pirates who are under the command of Lady Alvida."

"Who cares about all that?" Luffy asked with his mouth full. "Does this ship have any lifeboats?"

"Luffy, don't talk with your mouth full," Harry scolded his twin.

Koby thought for a moment. "There should be some, yeah."

Harry breathed out a sigh of relief. "That's good. Ours got destroyed by a whirlpool,"

"That large one outside?!" Koby asked in disbelief. "No way! No one could have survived that."

Harry shrugged. "Eh, we have our ways," he said. "What about you. Are you one of the pirates or one of the passengers?"

At this, Koby looked at the floor in despair. "I'm one of the pirates," he answered sadly. Harry was surprised. This kid seemed so feeble. He didn't even seem to want to be a pirate. Koby went on. "About two years ago, I tried to take a random fishing boat out to catch my dinner. But it turned out that the boat belonged to a pirate ship. In exchange for my life, I've been forced to live the life of a cabin boy."

By this point, Luffy was done with the apples. He sat by his brother. "That seems pretty stupid of you."

"Geeze, thanks," Koby said, sinking his head even lower.

Harry reached over to bop Luffy on the head. "Come on, don't go saying things like that!" He then turned back to Koby. "So why don't you try to escape?"

Koby then started to freak out again. "Are you kidding? No way! Not a chance! Just the thought of what Alvida would do if she found out scares me so bad I want to throw up!"

Harry shook his head in disappointment while Luffy laughed. "So you're a moron and a coward. I hate people like you."

Again Harry bonked him on the head. "You're starting to sound like Ace," Harry mumbled.

Koby cried for a few minutes, but he eventually settled down. "Yeah, you're right. If I had the courage, I'd float away in a barrel-like the two of you did." He then turned to the twins. "So why did you two start setting sail?"

Luffy then grinned. "You see, I'm gonna be King of the Pirates," he told Koby.

At this, Koby literally froze in shock. "The King...?"

Luffy nodded.

"Are you two serious?"

Again Luffy nodded along with Harry this time.

"But that means you guys are pirates too?" Koby figured.

Harry laughed at that. "I mean, that would help."

"Your crew?" Koby continued to ask though he looked terrified at what their answer might be.

Harry tried to give him a reassuring pat on the back. "It's just me right now, but we're looking for others."

Koby then became still as a statue.

Luffy waved a hand in front of his face while Harry poked him a couple of times on the head.

Koby then quickly stood up startling the both of them, and started to shout, "King of the Pirates is a title given to one who's attained everything the world has to offer! You two are talking about seeking out the great treasure of wealth, fame, and power! The treasure you seek, Luffy, is the One Piece!"

"Yeah!"

"Obviously."

"Yeah? Obviously? Pirates from all over the world are looking for that treasure, you know?" Koby continued to shout.

And he just kept going about how impossible it all was until finally, the twins had enough. Together, they punched Koby. He went down face first.

He wasn't down for long. "Why did you do that for?" Koby asked weakly.

"To shut you up," Harry answered. "You were about to have a panic attack."

Koby got back up and started to laugh. His hand was rubbing the spot where he was punched. "It's alright. I'm used to getting smacked around like that by my crewmates. "

"It's not about if I can, I'm doing it cause I wanna do it! It doesn't matter if I die," Luffy told Koby as he took off his hat. Harry found himself staring at the headwear just as fondly. "I've decided long ago that I'm gonna become King of the Pirates. If I die fighting for it then I die."

Harry then helped himself to an apple and leaned back as he said, "We want to be freer than anyone else out there. That means we're willing to fight just as hard to obtain it."

Koby looked at the floor in thought. Harry noticed this as Luffy put his hat back on and started to leave. Harry moved to follow, but both of them stopped. Koby spoke back up.

"I've never thought about that before if I could put my mind to it. Suppose I'm willing to risk my life. Could I really follow my dream?" Koby asked.

Harry turned to him with a curious smile. "What is your dream, Koby?"

"I...I want to join the Marines!" Koby told them with little hesitation.

"The Marines?" Luffy repeated back, confused.

Koby then shot back to his feet full of vigor. "Yeah! Catching bad guys has been my dream ever since I was a child! Do you guys really think I could do it?"

The twins gave a small laugh. "How would we know?" Luffy asked him.

"Yeah, that's something you need to find out for yourself," Harry agreed.

"Well, I'm gonna do it!" Koby declared, walking towards the pirates. "I'm not gonna be stuck as Alvida's cabin boy for the rest of my life. I'll break out and join the Marines, and then I'll turn right around and capture Alvida myself!"

Harry couldn't stop the smile from his face. However, at that moment, something big fell down from the ceiling.

"Who are you planning on capturing, runt!" A voice called out. As the smoke cleared, the twins found themselves being stared down at by what at first appeared to be a giant living dumpling, but then Harry realized it was just a rather large woman holding a giant mace with dulled spikes sticking out of it.

This, Harry presumed, was the pirate Alvida Koby was just talking about.

"And you think these twigs are going to help you? Well. Answer me!" Alvida continued to shout.

Harry heard a small whimper. Looking back, Koby stood frozen in fear of the massive woman.

He then heard some slicing sounds. Harry didn't even have to turn to know his brother was doing something probably stupid. He turned anyway. Luffy stood by the door, swords thrown on the wall just barely missing his head.

"You alright?" Harry asked him.

Luffy nodded. "I'm fine- just stick with Koby."

"Yes, Captain!" Harry moved to shield the smaller boy.

As he did, Alvida was looking the both of them up and down. "Hmph. I take it neither of you two is the pirate hunter, Zoro?"

"Zoro?" Luffy asked, confused.

"Never even heard of him," Harry said.

Alvida then ignored them as she turned her attention back to Koby. "Who's the most beautiful woman in all the sea?"

Harry turned back to Koby. Koby shook like a leaf as he stumbled for an answer. Harry then turned around to the lady pirate. "Is now really the time for this?" Harry asked her.

Alvida just scoffed.

Luffy turned to Koby while he pointed at Alvida. "Hey, Koby, who is this fat lady anyway?"

The ship was silent for a moment, save for Harry trying and failing to hide his laughter.

"Luffy, that's not something you say out loud." Harry tried to scold. His laughter ruined any authority he tried to have.

"Yeah, but Koby's the best one to answer," Luffy argued.

Harry finally stopped laughing. He calmed himself down to give Luffy a proper scold. "I know that. What I mean is that you don't call people fat in front of their faces. It'll just-"

Creak

Harry whirled back. Alvida raised her mace high, swinging it down at Luffy. Before Harry could jump to his brother's defense, Luffy moved. He leaped to the side, standing before Harry and Koby.

"Let's go!" Luffy told them.

Harry nodded, knowing what his captain wanted. He grabbed both his and Koby's hands.

"Accendio!" He called out, and all three soared up the hole Alvida made. They landed in front of her crew, who all started attacking.

The twins split up while Koby went to hide somewhere. Once Harry got a good foot away from the hole, he raised his right hand to eye level as a white mist covered it.

"Petrificus Totalus!" He shouted, sending the white mist over several of the enemy pirates.

As the mist landed on them, they froze in place. Arms snapped at their sides and their legs locked together before they fell to the ground, unable to move.

Another group made its way over. One swung his sword at Harry, who nimbly dodged before Harry kicked him in the face. As he escaped another one, a red light covered his hand this time, and Harry thrust his fist forward like he was throwing a punch.

"Stuptify!"

As he threw the glowing punch, dozens of red beams shot out. Those who were hit suddenly dropped to the ground unconscious.

"Hey, Harry, can you help me group these guys up?" He heard Luffy ask as he ran past his twin. Another group of pirates was chasing Luffy down.

Harry gave Luffy a nod as he got behind the group.

Luffy grabbed the mast, running past while his arm stretched behind him. The pirates were quick to get over the stretchy arm and started running away from Luffy only to find Harry waiting for them.

Harry gave a small smirk. "Epoximise!" He cast another mist over the pirates. This time they slammed together, and when they tried to pull apart they found that their clothes were stuck to each other.

Seeing his chance, Luffy cried out, "Gum-Gum...ROCKET!" And flung himself at the stuck pirates. He knocked them all over like they were bowling pins.

Harry laughed, watching Luffy make his way over to him and Koby. "Nice work, Luffy," Harry praised him.

"Thanks, Harry," Luffy replied as the two high-fived.

Koby then approached the twins. "Luffy, what exactly are you?" He asked, nervously.

"Oh," Luffy acknowledged the boy. "I'm a rubber man," To prove it, he pulled his cheek away from his face.

"So you're made of rubber. And Harry, I'm assuming you're a wizard," Koby realized weakly as he was still in shock from the fight he just witnessed.

Harry nodded and noticed Alvida coming up behind Koby. Alvida cleared her throat, gaining Koby's attention, who quickly hid behind Harry and Luffy. Alvida paid him no mind as she addressed the twins.

"So, you've eaten one of the devil fruit, right?" Alvida asked Luffy.

Luffy let his cheek snap back into place as he told Alvida about the Gum-Gum Fruit.

"I've heard rumors about it but never saw any proof until today," Alvida revealed as she turned towards Harry. "First time I've ever seen a wizard as well. Quite surprising." Harry gave a slight hmph at the remark. "Tell me, are you, two bounty hunters?"

"We're actually pirates," Luffy told her.

"Pirates?" Alvida scoffed. "All by yourselves on these waters."

"Well, it's just us today, but we'll find our crew soon," Harry said in a light tone. "We need like what...ten guys, right, Luffy?"

"Yeah ten," Luffy agreed.

Alvida continued to scowl. "Tell me- if we're both pirates, and we're not under the same flag...then that makes us enemies. Am I right?" she asked them.

Harry's smirk grew wider. "Looks like it to me."

Koby then inched closer to the twins. "Hey, you guys, let's just go."

Both brothers looked at him, confused. "Why?"

Koby started, screaming in fear again. "You two saw how powerful her club is! And out of all the villainous cheats, she's easily the most..." Koby trailed off. He tried to start again, but the words just died in his mouth.

Harry smirked, knowing what this must mean for the kid.

Koby then turned to Alvida. "You're the ugliest thing on the sea!" He finally finished, raising his voice for all to hear.

The pirates all stood dumbfounded. Luffy and Harry were laughing. Alvida just stood there, daring Koby to repeat himself.

Koby stood forward, getting everything off of his chest despite Alvida's growing anger. "I'm leaving to join the marines. Then I'm gonna spend the rest of my life beating up dirty pirates just like you. In fact, I'm gonna catch your lousy ass first!"

Alvida finally had enough. She swung her mace up to smash down on Koby. Harry grabbed the young boy and yanked him out of the way. Luffy stood in between them and the Iron Club pirate. He let the club smack him on the head, which, of course, had no effect on the rubber pirate since the spikes were dull.

Luffy then sent Alvida flying with a Gum-Gum Pistol. Her crew could only watch in disbelief.

"You can stop shaking now," Harry told Koby as he released the boy from his grip.

Luffy addressed Alvida's crew. "Go find a boat and give it to Koby. He's leaving to join the Marines, and you not going to stop him." He ordered.

The pirates, who were scared beyond words by their captain's defeat, complied.

That's when more cannon fire descended on both of the boats. Harry ran to the front of the ship and saw three marine vessels approaching them.

"Of course, these guys show up now," Harry muttered.

Luffy was happy about this, though. "Hey, Koby, look! They're here! Now's your chance to sign up."

"Luffy, if they see Koby here with his former crew their gonna throw him under the bus, and he's gonna be arrested before he can even say anything," Harry reminded him.

"Huh, good point," Luffy realized. The boat was ready, so the twins invited Koby to come into the next town to sign up there.

They were able to escape using the canon fire as cover.

Once they were able to escape the chaos, Koby looked around in disbelief. As if he couldn't believe he was free.

"We actually managed to get away." He whispered and looked at the twins.

Luffy was laughing at how fun all that was while Harry was detailing the events in the logbook.

"Hey Harry, Luffy," Koby asked, getting their attention. "If you guys are searching for the elusive One Piece, then you guys must be heading for the Grand Line, right? The guys I've talked to call that place the pirate's graveyard."

The duo nodded. "And that's why we need an extra-strong crew, right Luffy?" Harry said.

Luffy nodded. He suddenly remembered something. "You guys mentioned some pirate hunter, right?" He asked Koby. "So what's he like?"

"You mean Zoro?" Koby figured. "I've heard he's locked up in some Marine base."

Luffy sighed in disappointment. "So he's weak, huh."

"Are you kidding! He's violent as a demon and three times as terrifying!" Koby shouted before wondering. "Hey, why are you asking about him anyway?"

"Oh well, if he is strong, I was thinking he would join my crew," Luffy said with a smile.

Both Koby and Harry was taken surprised by that.

"Luffy, he's a bounty hunter," Harry said slowly to make Luffy understand. "He doesn't join pirates. He hunts them down."

"You never know he might jump at the chance to join," Luffy argued.

Harry sighed in defeat, knowing there was no point to argue now. Captian or not, once Luffy's mind was made up, there was no stopping him.

Koby tried to convince Luffy otherwise still, which just ended up in another panic attack for the boy. Luffy made to hit him again. Harry quickly casts a spell to keep them apart, giving Koby space to calm down.

The trio sailed to their next destination in relative peace.
