Disclaimer-I own nothing except the plot
Kendra POV
I can't be falling for this guy! I only met him a few hours ago! Yet no matter how many times I told herself this, I couldn't get it into my head. Bracken was just something else, in a good way of course, and completely the opposite of his cousin. Ronodin was literally obsessed with me to the point where I was sure I was being followed. Where Bracken, I feel like he cares for me, as friends of course, and I just feel completely safe around him. I never felt safe with Ronodin.
"Alright, I've saved the best for last. This is my absolute favorite place to be." Bracken said smiling at me.
I grinned back, "I don't know, it's gonna be hard to beat that massive library."
He laughed, "I guess we'll just have to see won't we."
He opened the giant doors in front of us, and I was left absolutely speechless. These doors led outside into this enchanting garden. Hundreds of fairies flew around, making all the plants have a certain glow to them. Excitedly, I walked around the garden, trying to take in all its beauty at once. It was near impossible.
A small fairy in an orange dress and pink butterfly wings flew up to me. I held out my hand, and she hesitantly sat on it. "What do you think?" The fairy asked in a soft Melodious voice.
"The Garden is absolutely lovely, you all did a wonderful job!"
The small very blushed and flew away, probably to tell all her friends.
Another three more fairies came up to me, and started pushing me over to the nearest bench.
"Sit!" One with dragonfly wings commanded.
Doing as I was told, I promptly sat down.
Bracken POV
I watched Kendra as she explored the garden. She looked so cute when she got excited. Wait, I didn't just think that did I? I shook my head, and continued to watch. One of the Fairies flew up to Kendra. I frowned as I watched the conversation. Fairies were known to be jealous and vain. I took a step closer so I could hear what they were saying.
"What do you think?" The small fairy said in Silvian.
Just when I thought Kendra couldn't understand what she was saying, she responded back to the small fairy with ease.
"The Garden is absolutely lovely, you all did a wonderful job!"
My eyes widened. The Knights of Dawn have been studying Kendra for a while, how did they miss that she could speak Silvian?
"Sit!"
I brought my attention back to Kendra, and my jaw dropped. The fairies were braiding her hair. Who was this woman? And why does she look so beautiful? Once the fairies were done with the intricate braid, Kendra stood up and thanked them all very generously.
Kendra POV
I've never met fairies before but I've read all about them. And let me tell you this was about the last thing I expected.
"I can't thank you enough! You all are so amazingly talented! And super pretty might I add!" I gushed as they brought me over to the water fountain so I could examine their work.
"Of course Lady Kendra! It was our Pleasure!" One of them said. Then they all flew off.
Before another fairy could come up to me, someone grabbed my hand. I looked up and saw it was Bracken.
"How did you do that?" He asked with wonder.
I looked at him confused, "Do what?"
He studied me for a minute, "Never mind. Come, we probably should be heading back."
I was confused, but nodded in agreement, "Okay! Bye Fairies!"
"Bye Kendra!" Many voices shouted in response.
Bracken gave a confused smile at the fairies and me, but said nothing as he walked me back towards my room.
Did I do something wrong?
I was so lost in thought, that I didn't notice that we made it to my door. I looked at Bracken, and he appeared to still be thinking. "Well thanks Bracken, see you later." I attempted to walk into my room when a hand on my shoulder stopped me.
"Kendra wait!"
I turned around, and stared into his eyes as he took a step closer. "Yes Bracken?"
The next thing he did left me starstruck. He leaned in an planted a soft, gentle kiss on my lips. Then he went over to my ear and whispered.
"You look beautiful with and without fairy magic."
Than he took a step back and smirked. "Until next time Princess." He bowed and them walked away.
Ronodin POV
"Your Majesties, your parents are leaders of the Knights of Dawn. Your own son is next in line for that position! You can't tell me you don't know they're location!" Ronodin accused.
"As we've said Ronodin, we don't know!" Scott shouted back!
"Ronodin, we want our daughter back as much as you do." Marla reasoned.
I stopped for a moment, and put on an evil smirk. "Of course Your Highnesses!" Ronodin started to laugh, "Than I assume you won't mind if I do this. Guards take them!"
Guards ran into the room and grabbed Scott and Marla.
"What is the meaning of this! Unhand us! I am the King!" Scott shouted.
"Of Fablehaven. You are in Zzyzx now." Ronodin smirked. "Take them to the tallest tower in the castle, they may be good bait for getting my Princess back."
"You'll regret this!" Marla shouted.
"I'll do whatever it takes to get Kendra back. And if sacrifices need to be made than so be it. Take them away."
Their screams of protest echoed through the castle walls, but Ronodin was to deep in thought to notice.
I'll destroy the Knights of Dawn. Every single one of them will pay for what they've done to me. And any blood that is split will be on their hands. I'll save you my love, and there nothing anyone can do to stop me.
