CHAPTER I
Breaking Point
Everything was going great. Mirabel had finally found a way to save the miracle, Isabela's power had grown and bloomed like a flower in spring and their sisterly relationship was now repaired. The two flew into the air and landed on a patch of flowers. as flowers went everywhere as the two sisters laughed.
"You're a bad influence."
Isabela flicked a red flower which hit Mirabel in the face as the two sisters laughed.
Although this moment didn't last long when the voice of someone they knew boomed across the courtyard
"What is going on!"
This made the two sisters quickly sit up as Abuela Alma walked in.
"Abuela. It's okay. Everything's- Were gonna save the miracle. The magic-"
Unfortunately for Mirabel Abuela Alma was not happy at all.
"What are you talking about? Look at our home! Look at your sister!"
"Please! Just- Isabela wasn't happy and she didn't-"
"Of course she isn't happy! You RUINED her proposal!"
"No no, Se needed me to ruin her proposal And we did all this!"
Abuela Alma sighed as Mirabel continued talking.
"And the candle burned brighter and the cracks-"
"Mirabel."
"That's why I'm in the vision I'm saving the miracle."
"YOU HAVE TO STOP MIRABEL!"
The courtyard quickly went silent as Abuela Alma's voiced boomed.
Mirabel's smile had quickly turned into a frown as Abuela Alma then continued speaking.
"The cracks started with you. Bruno left because of you! Luisa's losing her power, Isabela's out of control because of you! I don't know what you weren't given a gift but it is not an excuse for you to hurt this family!"
Mirabel couldn't believe it. The one she always tried to please. Her own Abuela was blaming her for the miracle dying.
The feeling of hurt was quickly taken over by a feeling of hate.
"I will never be good enough for you."
Abuela Alma remained still with a face of anger and disappointment. At this point everyone had started gathering around not daring to intervene.
Mirabel then continued speaking trying her best to keep it together.
"Will I?"
Mirabel saw her parents in a nearby doorway.
"No matter hard I try."
She looked at her family. She knew no one but herself would dare to stand up against her Abuela. She knew Abuela Alma had pushed everyone to their limits.
"No matter how hard... Any of us tries"
She looked back at her sisters. One was forced to be perfect all their life and other had to deal with every family burden and every heavy task for all of their life.
"Luisa will never be strong enough. Isabela won't be perfect enough. Bruno left our family cause you only saw the WORST in him."
"Bruno didn't CARE about this family!"
The anger inside Mirabel grew bigger she knew this was not at all true. From the little time she had spent with he was kind despite being shy and socially awkward. He loved this family. He left because he thought it would help his family.
"He loves this family! I love this family! We all love this family!"
Casita shook like as if it was in an earthquake the cracks widen and grew as the argument continued the cracks even reach into Encanto itself.
"You're the one who doesn't care! You're the one breaking our home!"
"DON'T YOU EVER!"
"THE MIRACLE IS DYING BECAUSE OF YOU!"
"MAYBE IT WOULD OF BETTER IF YOU HAD LEFT JUST LIKE BRUNO DID!"
This struck Mirabel's heart like a knife. The whole family was shocked with what Abuela Alma had said. Mirabel couldn't keep it together any longer as tears began forming in he eyes.
"F-fine then... I WILL!"
She then ran towards the doorway her mother Julieta walked towards Mirabel.
"Mi queirda hija wait!"
She got halfway before she stopped as Mirabel turned around and faced Abuela Alma uttered some words she thought she'd never hear from her.
"I HATE THIS MIRACLE, I HATE THIS FAMILY... AND I HATE YOU! I WISH I NEVER HAD THIS FAMILY!"
She ran right out the door as it slammed shut. Casita couldn't take it anymore as the house began crumbling. A huge crack appeared on the floor. Pepa was the first to notice where the crack was going.
"No! No! No!"
Everyone looked towards the candle. Abuela Alma looked up an covered her mouth with her hands as they saw the crack go up the wall towards the candle.
"The candle!"
The crack reached the candle as the windowsill broke as the candle fell out of the holder and was now rolling on the windowsill.
As the Casita broke apart a loud boom rocked the whole valley as the mountains opened up one by one the doors stopped glowing. Each Madrigal losing their gift. Antonio's door burst open as all the animals fled the Casita. Antonio stood there in complete shock not understanding what was happening.
Suddenly his father Felix raced towards him and picked him up.
"Watch out Antonio!"
A door and part of the second floor suddenly came crashing down narrowly missing the two.
"We gotta get out of here!"
Everyone quickly ran out of the Casita as pieces of wall windows furniture doors and railings fell down. In a last effort Casita pushed everyone out of the house. Meanwhile inside the Walls Bruno ran towards a bucket grabbing every rat he could find he put the bucket on his head and crashed through the wall landing in the bushes before running off.
The whole could do nothing but watch as the house fell apart. A crack went up Bruno's tower as paintings fell off the wall some even breaking. With one final crack the tower fell as the candle fell to the ground only to be crushed not long after by the rubble A great big cloud of dust soon covered the Casita leaving everyone coughing and spluttering
As the dust cleared all the remained of Casita was rubble.
"Oh no."
"Our house it's gone."
Abuela Alma stood there in shock. She was blinded by her trauma and now the house and the miracle were destroyed and the one thing she feared would happen had happened
"What have I done?"
The whole family began trickling into what was their home.
Broken glass and picture frames drawers and vases smashed to pieces.
Every memory and every sentimental thing was gone.
Everything was quiet as everyone looked around moving bit and pieces and some items.
"Juileta come quick! Julieta!"
Some townsfolk had arrived to make sure everyone was okay.
"How could this happen?"
Antonio walked through the rubble then he saw his little toy jaguar buried in the rubble. He had lost all of his animal friends He missed Chispi, He missed Pico but most of all he missed Parce even though he didn't know the jaguar for very long they bonded so much that they were almost inseparable. He then hugged his jaguar toy and started crying. Pepa soon came over and began comforting him
"Antonio don't cry."
Soon Felix walked over.
"Look your Papito is here now too."
Felix turned around to his wife
"The encanto is broken."
Pepa then faced Felix.
"What will we do now?"
Camilo now realized his powers were gone. He didn't know what to do. Dolores walked over to him.
"My powers are gone I don't know-"
He then noticed Antonio. He had only received his gift so recently and had taken away in a blink of an eye.
"What about Antonio what is he gonna do."
Abuela Alma was sitting on the ground she knew this was all her fault.
Julieta and a townsman were moving a drawer and some bottles. She suddenly remembered about her daughter as the Casita breaking had made here forget about her.
"Mirabel."
"Mirabel!"
Mirabel soon walked into the newly opened mountains she stopped and turned around and looked at Encanto one last time before turning around and heading towards the river.
She knew she wasn't wanted in Encanto. Abuela Alma made that quite clear. She didn't know where she would go but she knew she'd figure it out. Eventually.
Although she didn't know a figure in a green ruana was following her.
The figure watched Mirabel carefully.
"Don't worry mi mariposa I'll protect you if it's the last thing I do. After all we're both outcasts."
Mirabel then crossed the river as the figure followed behind.
Mirabel was done with waiting for a miracle.
