CHAPTER II
A New Day

Mirabel didn't know where she was she had walked through the jungle for ages the mountains that led to Encanto were quite far away. For the most part she didn't regret leaving at all. She knew if she stayed she would still be ignored and left to fade into the background. She hoped that Antonio and Bruno weren't too upset about her leaving. After all they were only ones who she really could call family. She stopped at a small stream she sat down and looked into the water.

"I'm sorry Tio Bruno, I'm sorry Antonio. I hope you can forgive me and understand why I had to leave."

Somewhere in the bushes a figure hid making sure she didn't see him. He didn't want her to know just yet.

"Don't worry mi mariposa I understand why. I'm right here even though you don't know it yet. They didn't deserve you mi sobrina."

Bruno had always been an outcast. Shunned by almost everyone in Encanto. When Mirabel never got a gift and he saw the vision he knew he had to hide away he buried the vision where at the time he thought no one would find it.

Although it had prevented Mirabel from possibly being thrown out of the family like something unwanted she still faced the issue of being ignored and neglected seen as of no use to the family. Abuela Alma sure as hell proved that with what she said. Bruno heard her in the past decade always putting Mirabel lesser than everyone.

'Heh History repeats itself doesn't it?' He thought to himself.

The whole town treated him like some sort of demon he had gained a nickname that was sometimes ushered in the crowds "El Diablo Verde" though his sister were always quick to silence them. But sometime when they weren't around he'd hear them say it.

He spent years trying to please Abuela Alma but had no results. He would wish everyday to have a different gift. Bruno grew to hate his gift over the years considering it a curse. He spent everyday listening to what was going on in the Casita never getting to see anyone's faces.

He was used to being alone even before he went into the walls. No one in the town wanted anything to do with him all his life. In his years of living in the walls he for the most part never interacted with anyone he'd always come out when everyone was asleep.

Mirabel then got up and continued walking. With Bruno following close behind. Mirabel had reached the top of a hill with the stream a few tens of metres away when Bruno accidentally stood on a twig on the ground which broke with a loud crack. Bruno quickly hid himself as Mirabel turned around.

Mirabel look at some bushes where the noise had came from everything had went quiet though she heard the slight rustle of the leaves in the bushes. she walked towards them with caution. She knew the jungle can be dangerous at times but her curiosity couldn't help but investigate.

"Hello?"

Bruno backed further into the bushes trying not to make too much noise. Though if it wasn't for a root sticking out he would of been fine. He soon fell over onto his back with a loud crash.

Mirabel ran over to the bushes and stopped. There in front of her lying on his back in the bushes was none other than her tio Bruno.

"Tio Bruno?"

Bruno quickly sat up and looked at Mirabel.

"L-look I know you probably d-don't wanna see anyone b-but"

Bruno quickly got up continuing to talk.

"I just w-wanted to.. to make sure you were safe and-"

He soon had his words taken out of his mouth as Mirabel hugged him tightly.

"Tio Bruno I thought I'd never see you again."

Tears soaked into Bruno's ruana as Mirabel cried. Bruno soon wrapped his arms around Mirabel hugging her.

"There, there mi mariposa I'm here now. And I won't be going anywhere this time... Not again"

They soon stopped hugging as Mirabel looked at Bruno.

"I don't understand you left Encanto to make sure I was safe?"

"I already lost you once Mirabel I can't abandon you again. I won't abandon you again."

"You didn't abandon me. You hid in the walls to protect me because you knew what would of happened."

There was a small silence before Mirabel spoke.

"We've been through so much trying to please a family that could never be pleased. And now you don't have to hide. I don't have to feel constantly worthless and-"

"Shh We'll do this together. After all we outcasts have to stay together."

Bruno and Mirabel then walked up the hill. They had no path to take and they didn't know what they'd do. But they knew the only family they need is each other. And that was how it was going to stay. Without the pain expectation. without any neglect. and without any judgment

END OF CHAPTER II

A bit short but I wanted to end the chapter here since I thought it was a good ending point (I was going to feature the Madrigals back in Encanto with a little argument/fight but I liked how this ended that I decided to leave that until the next chapter I did plan on doing for the first chapter but that's already long enough as it is) On another note I was surprised to find how many people are interested in this story (Was planning on doing a 2-day schedule for chapters but then it'd get buried considering how many get updated in a day alone) see you whenever I upload the next chapter (Probably soon hopefully)
