Author's note: 05 June 2022: This is my story in the High School DxD universe. The MC is a Fem-OC and the story will eventually feature a reverse harem/ male harem. I'm not genderbending any main character from the original series, though I don't promise the same with minor characters.

Since this is a High School DxD story, it will be rated 'M' for obvious explicit reasons. There will be limes, lemons, multi, elements of BDSM, manipulative play, probable non-con as well as violations. If this is not your cup of tea, please leave right away.

The story is mostly canon compliant but presence of OC will change things.

Lucas trudged along the rest of the men, towards the excavation site. For months he and his fellow companions have been digging at various sites, looking for what, he wasn't sure. The work was hard, but the pay was decent. Their employer was the Astaroth clan, who were known to pay the servants and workers in their employees well.

Lucas knew the project was initiated by Ajuka Beelzebub, one of the four satans, so there was real drive behind the project. However, being a Satan, Ajuka was too busy to look after the project as thus it was given over to the Astaroth clan, his original family before he became a satan.

So far, they had excavated numerous sites with nothing to show for, but the Heir of the Astaroth Clan, Diodora, who was personally looking after the project, was not fazed and kept at it, always bringing out new sites to excavate. So far, most of the sites were either on the edge of the unknown region of the underworld or just beyond, their current one being no exception, though it was one of those which were completely within the unknown region.

Till now the site was not looking promising, but Lucas knew to keep his opinion to himself. Afterall, if the sites keep turning out empty, the clan might decide to call the project a bust and they would lose their paydays. Instead, he hefted a pickaxe and went inside the latest excavation site along with the rest of the men.

The excavation site was underground, excessed only through a makeshift platform elevator, which was constructed using ropes and wooden planks and operated manually using pulleys. He stepped on the platform with the rest of the men and soon they were lowered into the darkness. They descended for almost 150 feet before the vertical shaft ended in a spherical chamber, which Lucas knew had another opening, that of a narrow tunnel, which led to their current dig site.

Lucas went to work, and soon was lost in the rhythm of the monotonous work. An hour later though, his monotony was broken, when instead on packed soil, his pickaxe hit a hard surface. The resounding clang echoed in the chamber, gaining the attention of all the workers. Immediately, Lucas started digging around the hard object. When it became clear that it wasn't a rock, others joined him and soon they dug out a rectangular box, which was about 6 feet long and 2 feet tall and wide. To Lucas it looked like one of those ancient Egyptian coffins, a sarcophagus, he thought it was called.

Word had been sent to the surface about their discovery and Lucas was feeling giddy inside, knowing that his discovery would certainly keep the project going and he hoped that the discovery was important enough that he might get a reward for discovering it. Young Lord Astaroth certainly looked benevolent enough.

While waiting for the boss to come and check their discovery, Lucas took a closer look at the sarcophagus. He could not fathom what it was made off as it looked like stone but felt like metal. There were symbols all over the box, though there were two which were most prominent, both on the top.

Lucas knew enough to know that the two were symbols of some devil clan, though he didn't know which ones. The first one was simpler with a lion's head in the center of concentric circles, with a word written in devil script under the mane of the lion. The second one was a very complex circle of devil letters surrounding two triangles, touching each other at a point, which happened to be the center of the circle. Both the triangles had more letters in the devil language along the lines, both inside and outside. Lucas couldn't read the devil script, no one but the devils were allowed to learn it, but he still tried to figure out which clan symbols they were.

Lucas was still trying to figure out the clan when the young Lord Astaroth arrived. Diodora Astaroth was a gentle-handsome looking devil, with blonde hair that shone in the touch light. He was dressed in black expensive looking suit, which Lucas thought belonged either in a movie or in a high end office. His eyes were a unique golden color that looked at everyone with a gentle gaze, which turned to delight as his gaze fell on the sarcophagus. He quietly approached the box and touched the two prominent clan symbols, his eyes lighting up in recognition.

Lucas knew at that moment that he had discovered something very important, filling him with hope. The young lord circled around the sarcophagus, occasionally poking at various symbols around the box. Once he even used his demonic power on the symbols near the lip of the top cover of the sarcophagus, before straightening up with a gleeful smile on his face.

"Who discovered this?" The Lord gently asked in a soft cultured voice.

Lucas stammered, "I… It was me, Mi… M'Lord!"

The lord smiled benevolently at him, "You have made a great discovery. A discovery that will benefit all the devil kind greatly. Tell me, what is your name?"

"Luc… Lucas, M'Lord!"

"Well Lucas, for such a great discovery you deserve a reward." The young Astaroth lord smiled, filling Lucas with giddiness.

Turning to the rest of the men, the lord continued, "In fact, I'm feeling so joyful, I'm going to reward all of you."

The lord rose from the ground, a green magic circle appearing under him on the floor, humming with power. Lucas ecstatically looked on as the circle grew brighter and brighter. Soon smaller green circles appeared under every man as they looked on with delight. And it was the last thing they ever saw.

Diodora unleashed his power, eviscerating every last of the workers at the dig site. As he lowered himself to the ground, he let his true persona appear on his face as the gentle look was replaced by a sinister one. When he detected that there was no one alive around him, he turned to look at the sarcophagus and laughed diabolically.

Gently stroking the lid, he softly spoke, "You are a great discovery. With your help, I'll soon rule the underworld."

He then took hold of the sarcophagus in his demonic power and started levitating it out of the excavation site. Once he was outside, he threw the rest of the men into the deep vertical shaft and collapsed the tunnel, burying the whole site.

Soon, he will have to report that the project was a failure as they didn't find anything and lost all their work force during a cave-in. For now though he had to hide his discovery and then unlock the runes on it, which had frozen the contents of the box in time.

Few days later Diodora was sitting in his office finishing off the final report of the excavation project, formally ending it. 67 workers dead because of the cave in, no significant find, the project was a complete failure. On paper at least, Diodora thought, suppressing a smile. He signed off the report and looked across his desk.

"Well, gentlemen, that concludes the excavation project." he gently stated to the representative of the contractor who were hired for excavating. He continued solemnly, "Astaroth family is deeply saddened by the loss of life in the accident. Nothing can replace those men, but we would like to offer their families a significant compensation along with the damages that was already in the contract."

Diodora handed over the papers stating the same, as well as bank statements which showed that the money was already in process of being transferred over to the families. The rep's eyes widened at the amount and soon they left bowing and thanking him for his generosity. As soon as they left, the pleasant expression disappeared from his face to be replaced by a nasty sneer.

"You there, Rook!" He called one of his rooks who was standing next to the door, "get down here on your knees and put that mouth to some use."

Once the rook, who he hadn't even given a name, settled between his legs and was working to relieve his stress, he called his familiar, a black bug and ordered it to bring the final report to Ajuka.

Once his stress was relieved he kicked his rook away, did his pants and summoned a teleportation circle. Soon he appeared in the human world in a secluded mansion surrounded by forest, the location of which was known only to him. He made his way in and went to the master bedroom where he had kept his discovery, away from the prying eyes. He had been working on the runes and seals on the box. Yesterday, he had worked out the Agares clan magical seals on the lid and opened the sarcophagus to find a beautiful girl within it.

The girl was fair skinned with pitch black silky hair and a slim tall figure. She was young, though Siodora couldn't be sure due to the devil physiology, which led to the devils getting physical maturity much earlier. And the girl was almost fully mature, Diodora reasoned, leering at her ample bust which was barely covered by the thin robe she was in.

Diodora didn't know who the girl was, but he was sure of what she was. He was confident that she was the heiress of the now extinct clans of Marbas and Valefor, as was indicated by the two clan symbols carved on the sarcophagus.

'Not extinct anymore', he scoffed, 'though the clan status wouldn't change anytime soon, if I had my way.'

He had levitated her out of the sarcophagus and had laid her on the king sized bed. He had taken much pleasure in fondling her when he had changed her out of her clothes into a simple yet comfortable spaghetti dress which left her shoulders and arms bare and ended high on her thighs, giving him a good view of her long legs. The light green dress was made of a thin soft material that clung to her figure and left little to imagination. His gaze slowly lifted upwards from her thighs, ogling and memorizing all the curves and swells of her body before reaching her face.

Her heart shaped lips were slightly pouty and looked super kissable in their natural peachy pink color. Diodora could attest to their kissability, having already done so to the unconscious girl. Her nose was small with straight contours and sat perfectly in her face. Her almond shaped eyes were slightly upturned on the outside, giving her face an overall aristocratic look. Diodora had looked in the history books and the girl had inherited most of her features from the Velafors, her mother's family.

The only prominent thing that she had inherited from her father's family was her eyes. Diodora had checked and they were dark-ish red, like rubies and they shone as if there was a light source behind them. Her pitch black hair was in contrast with her fair skin, both of which would compliment and bring out her eyes even more, once they were open.

As he looked at her beautiful face, he once more observed what was on her forehead. Another Agares clan magical seal rune was placed just touching her forehead, freezing her mind in time as well. Diodora was sure that breaking that rune would wake her up.

The clans of Marbas and Valefor were two of the strongest houses before the civil war, almost at par with the Bael clan. They were also one of the first houses to be whipped out due to that reason. Diodora knew his history well and knew that the last remaining member of the Marbas house had married the heiress of the Valefor clan. Judging by his discovery, the marriage was successful and they had a child. House Valefor was allied to house Agares and Diodora could guess that Marbas would have had friendly relations with them as well.

So when they realized that they would be targeted, they must have sealed their heiress to protect her, with the help of Agares family, freezing her in time as well. Though why didn't the Agares family recover her after the war, Diodora didn't know.

The Agares clan had frozen her properly, with both her body and mind in statis. The runes on the sarcophagus were there to freeze her body, so that she had not aged physically even a day since the sealing, until Diodora had removed the seal. The rune on her forehead was there to keep her mind frozen in the same state as well. From her perspective, when he would remove the seal, only a brief moment would have passed since she was sealed.

Since there was nothing else to do anymore, Diodora channeled his demon magic to the rune on her forehead and broke the seal, causing her eyes to snap open.

XXXXX

Kali's eyes snapped open to find herself in an unfamiliar room. First thing she saw was the rich beautiful canopy of the four poster bed she was lying on. Remembering her last memory, she suddenly sat up in alarm, only to find a single person in the room, apart from her. He was sitting in a chair next to the bed she was lying in and was serenely looking at her, but with some concern clearly visible on his face.

Kali didn't recognize him, but acknowledged that he was a kind looking handsome man, though he was dressed in an unfamiliar style of clothes.

Slightly relaxed due to his demeanor, but still cautious, she asked him, "Who are you?"

The man smiled gently before answering in a soft voice, "Hello, my name is Diodora Astaroth. I'm the heir of the Astaroth family. May I know your name?"

Kali's eyes widened on hearing his clan name. From what her family had told her, one of the generals of the rebel army was from the Astaroth family and he was rumored to be one of the strongest devils to have ever lived. If she was at the Astaroth family's place, she must be safe.

Kali blushed slightly when she realized the man was still patiently waiting for her name.

"I'm Kaileigh." She replied, then remembering her manners, hastily added, "Nice to meet you."

Astaroth's face beamed with a pleasant smile. Shyly smiling at him, she asked hopefully, "Where am I? And do you know the whereabouts of my family?"

A pained expression passed through his face, and although he quickly replaced it, fear set in Kali's heart. He answered her composedly.

"You are in the human world right now, safe in one of my hidden houses. As to your other question, I'll get to it soon. Instead, I have to ask you a few questions, if you don't mind, they will help me in answering all your questions and queries. Is that alright?"

Kali nodded her acceptance, though fear for her family continued to grow in her heart.

"Alright, first question. You are a member of the Marbas and Valefor families. Is that correct?"

Kali was surprised that he knew that. Her surprise must have shown on her face because his eyes flicked to the other side of the room. When she looked in that direction, she could see a stone slab was leaning next to a stone box, clearly showing the clan symbols of both her houses. Her time capsule, Kali realized, though she didn't know that her family had carved clan symbols on it. She guessed that they might have done that after sealing her in.

Knowing that there was no point in hiding or lying, she answered, "Yes, my full name is Kaileigh Marbas-Valefor. I'm the heiress of the Marbas and Valefor clans."

Astaroth nodded at her answer, probably already having guessed the same. He asked his next question.

"What do you know about the devil civil war?"

Kali felt dread built up within her at the question. That question meant that the war did start after all. Putting her fear aside, she answered truthfully.

"The last I know, there was escalating tension between the Satan clans and the 72 pillars due to the Satan clans counted only themselves and the members of the Six Houses of Lucifer as true Devils and the remaining people of the Devil society, inclusive the 72 Pillar Houses, as disposable beings that they did not count as true Devils."

"Three of the 4 direct descendants of the original Satans had declared their intentions to claim their parents' thrones as Satans and restart the Great war once more. The 72 pillars thought that restarting the Great war would end in the extinction of the devil race. The last thing that I know of was that Lord Bael and his clan along with the Agares clan was building a coalition to oppose the Satan clans and that Lord Agares had reached out to my family. They had agreed on the condition that the Agares clan help seal me in time as I was the only heiress of the two great clans."

Kali finished and waited for Astaroth to tell her more. He adopted a thoughtful expression and didn't replied for a while. Kali was about to ask him when he looked at her, and his steely eyes told her that she wouldn't like what he was going to tell her.

"I'll continue from where you left off. Soon after Lord Bael started gathering a coalition the civil war begin. Initially, the rebel faction was losing badly. However, four devils stepped in and changed the tide of the war. They were Sirzechs Gremory, Ajuka Astaroth, Serafall Sitri and Falbium Glasya-Labolas. The war ended when Bidleid Beelzebub, Tsufaame Leviathan and Damaidosu Asmodeus, the three descendants, were killed and their troops had been defeated."

"After the war concluded and the surviving members of the original Four Great Satans clans were driven to the outskirts to the Underworld, Zekram Bael asked the aces of the Anti Satan Faction (Sirzechs Gremory, Serafall Sitri, Ajuka Astaroth and Falbium Glasya-Labolas) to become new Four Great Satans. They took the thrones of Lucifer, Leviathan, Beelzebub and Asmodeus respectively."

Here he took a deep breath, looked at her apologetically and continued.

"That was about 500 years ago."

It was a hammer blow of epic proportion to Kali. Her whole world shattered and she would have fallen down had she not already been on bed. As it was, tears welled in her eyes, but she braved through them to ask the most important question, already dreading the answer, but she needed to hear the words.

"Wh… What about my… my family?"

Astaroth solemnly answered, "They were among the first houses whipped out by the Satan clan, as they were amongst the most dangerous."

He rose from the chair and sat on the edge of the bed, before taking her hands in his. He looked into her eyes, visibly steeled himself and continued, "Kaileigh, your family died 500 years ago. You are the last of the Marbas and Valefor clans."

Kali's resolve shattered and she started sobbing at her lose and the other devil took her in his arms providing a shoulder to cry on as well as support and something solid for Kali to hold on as her world around her imploded.

As she was crying, she of course couldn't see the wicked look in the other devil's golden eyes.
