Welcome to another story that has been sitting in my files for a while that I've been wanting to post. So I hope you enjoy Dimensional Rift!
The sky shined a brilliant blue as fluffy white clouds drift across the sky. The gentle breeze brushed against the wavy hills. On a beaten path a lone horse rider and their steed galloped across the land. The rider's golden hair danced in the wind as her pure white steed shined in the sunlight. Soon the horse began to slow down into a trot. Its rider reached into a saddlebag before pulling out a water bag. As she drank, her attention was caught by the slight gurgling of a stream. The rider and steed made their way to the stream off the side of the path and dismounted.
The crystal-clear water sparkled in the bright sun as the rider looked upon it. She bent down and splashed her face with the cold water as she heard her horse drink next to her. For a moment she studied her reflection, dark bags were forming underneath her blue eyes. Her shoulder-length hair was splayed everywhere. Looking down, her clothes were covered in dust and grime and her armor looked as if it needed a good polishing.
"Damn Lux, all this because of some simple gut feeling. Utter madness this is," the girl said under her breath.
Luxanna Crownguard, the Lady of Luminosity by those who knew of her magic, decided now was as good as time as any to take a quick rest underneath a large tree. She laid underneath in the tree's shadow as her horse came and laid beside her.
"Hey girl, let's rest for a little before we travel again," Lux said as her eyelids closed.
The horse simply snorted before it to lay its head down. They laid on the ground enjoying the gentle breeze.
Sometime later the horse and girl were awakened by the squeal of a young girl.
"Horsey!"
Lux quickly rolled to the side and into a crouching position her staff pointed in front of her. However, the newcomer paid little attention to Lux and quickly wrapped her arms around the horse's neck. Her bright magenta hair bounced with the little girl. Lux watched the girl coo and pet her horse before she finally stood up and walked over.
"Hey there little one, are you out here by yourself?"
"Yup, it's just me and Tibbers." The little girl said breaking away and holding up a worn teddy bear. "My name is Annie, do you want to play?"
Lux frowned for a moment before she crouched down to Annie's height and smiled, "Its nice to meet you, Annie, my name is Lux. I can't play right now, I am on an important journey."
Annie bounced on her toes, "Ooh, are you going to the Big Thump?"
"Big thump?" Lux asked tilting her head a little.
"Uh-huh, the Big Thump. It feels like a thump thump thump right her." Annie said pointing at her chest.
"Do you mean your heart, Annie?"
"No no, not the heart. Past that, deeper than the heart. In my magic, I feel it." Annie said as she twirled, small flames dancing off her fingertips.
Lux and the horse jump away at the surprise embers. Annie seeing them jump away instantly backed away and curl around her teddy bear. Annie's green eyes glow orange a little, yet small tears rolled down her cheeks.
"No, not again, I don't want to fight just leave me alone and I won't hurt you," Annie said backing away flames dancing on her body.
"No wait, Annie, it's okay, I won't hurt you," Lux said holding her wand in the air. "I can do magic too, see."
With a wave of her staff, rainbows glowed above the two mages' heads. Annie's magic receded, she watched Lux's rainbows. Soon Annie was bouncing around Lux without a care in the world wanting to see more rainbows. Lux just giggled as she created some more rainbows and sparkles for Annie to chase.
Their play stopped when Annie's stomach started to growl. Lux simply smiled and pulled out some food from her horse's saddlebag. She handed the sandwich to Annie who happily ate it up along with two apples. Lux frowned as she ate her sandwich and watched Annie pet her horse.
"Come on Annie, let's get on Abby and continue on to the… 'Big Thump,'" Lux said with a smile.
"Yeah! Pony ride! Come on big sister, let's go," Annie cheered.
Lux shook her head while smiling as she put Annie on Abby. Lux quickly mounted herself behind Annie and the three were down the road once more. Annie chattered away as Lux just nodded, smiled, and laugh at Annie's behavior.
As the sky was starting to turn orange, Annie was sound asleep against Lux and carefully cradled in Lux's arm. Lux was still trotting along on Abby until Annie started to stir. Rubbing her eyes, Annie sat up and looked at something on the horizon.
"The Big Thump," Annie said pointing.
Lux just nodded, "Yeah we're getting close. Whatever it is, it's powerful." Lux shivered as she held Annie closer to her.
The two continued to ride towards the 'Big Thump' as Annie had dubbed it. As they drew near, old stone structures could be seen.
"They are such a pretty white," Annie said as they drew near the first of these structures.
"They look like door frames," Lux said palming her staff.
"That one looks like a naked lady!" Annie said pointing at one statue before giggling.
Lux just rolled her eyes while smiling and agreed with Annie. The two continued to ride through the ruins pointing out anything that looked interesting until they came to an obelisk that stood in the middle of all the runes. Unlike the other white stone ruins that filled the area, this one was pure black. Blue runes glowed violently as the two mages neared. Lux looked around and saw a few other people standing to the sides.
One was a man with light purple skin and a large scroll strapped to his back. Lux eyed him as his glowing blue eyes turned towards them. Blue tattoos flared up before he turned back to the obelisk. Lux's attention went towards the raven-haired girl with two large appendages on her shoulder that glowed purple. Her dark grey skin reminded her of some of the void creatures Lux had seen one time.
"Nauty!" Annie cried as she bounced in her seat.
Said giant metal behemoth turned towards Annie with glowing red eyes. The eerie green glow that came from the cracks of the armors dimmed to nothing as it took on step towards the two horseback mages. It kneeled on one knee and raised one hand towards Annie's level. Annie stood on top of Abby and quickly jumped onto the outstretched hand. With a swift movement, the metal giant raised Annie to his left shoulder where Annie quickly took a seat. Lux watched with a frown before another figure spoke up.
"It is odd to watch that giant act so gentle with a small girl."
Lux turned towards the voice and froze as she took in the speaker's features. The horned helmet danced with purple electricity as yellow eyes glowed. The entire figure was clad in armor with a sword attached to the arm. The sword glowed purple as the speaker's eyes darted towards the dark-haired women.
"I am Kassadin, the giant is Nautilus, that is Ryze, and this is… Kai'Sa. Who are you and the young girl?"
"It's nice to meet you Kassadin, my name is Lux, the little one is Annie. We are here because, I guess that obelisk, was calling out to us."
"A feeling that reverberated throughout your being?" Ryze said to Lux.
"Yes, Annie described it as the 'Big Thump'," Lux said with a smile.
Kai'Sa let out a laugh while Ryze and Kassadin just stared at the little girl who was chatting away with Nautilus.
"It certainly feels like a giant heartbeat. For someone so young to be so in tune with their magic, she will be powerful one day." Ryze said before turning away from the group.
"Sooo, what is this?" Lux said.
"No idea, it felt like an opening to the Void, so I came to try to stop anything from crossing. Though nothing has shown up since I arrived," Kai'Sa said.
"It is not the rift opening I feared it was, but an opening that leads somewhere else," Kassadin said.
Kai'Sa put a hand to her chin as she stared at the glowing runes.
"It is a portal. To where I am not sure, nor am I sure about who made this portal." Ryze as he walked up to the obelisk and touched the runes. Ryze had to instantly pull his hand back as blue lightning shocked him.
"Magic… like inside of me… darkness leaks from it and into… our world," Nautilus said his deep voice echoing across the land.
"It has begun," Annie said her eyes glowing orange.
At her words, everyone turned towards the obelisk and watched in fascination as it began to rise from the ground. The air around them hummed with energy as blue light filled the land. Lux looked out behind her to see runes forming in a ring. A dome of blue energy surrounds the six of them until silence.
The land was now empty, no trace of the group of was left, nothing but an open meadow and old stone ruins.
I hope you enjoyed the first chapter! I have three more already written out so I hope you enjoy those as well.
So rant time, feel free to just skip this.
I really, really, really, want to see more well-written stories between the Harry Potter and LoL's worlds. Of the few good fanfics that I have found, they were just amazing, to be concise. I think it's a crime there isn't more fanfic like this in the world and I am going to do my part in trying to inspire other similar stories. Hopefully, I find more ideas for this story cause I sadly ran out a long time ago. I just want more Harry Potter and Lux stories cause they ended up sharing a similar life story and I want to explore that. Like come on, here is a perfectly good ship that's been abandoned and left to rust. I need moreeeeeeeeee.
Ahem, right. Rant over. I'll be posting the next chapters soon. Either in a few days or next week.
Have good day!
PK OUT!
