Inaya and Gwen were feeling terrible. After what they found out on Halloween what could they do? They couldn't be her friend, could they? They'd owe her an explanation if they suddenly stopped being friends. If she knew, would she tell her family that they were friends with muggle-borns and blood-traitors? Would she call them blood-traitors?! Could they teach her otherwise, or was she already consumed by the pureblood-supremacy madness?
It was the first of November 1968, and they had no idea what to do. They spoke to each other using their acquired "telepathic" powers:
I can't believe she's a pureblood-supremacist! Gwen did the equivalent of screaming through telepathic communication.
It isn't really that hard to believe… She's part of THE family of pureblood-fanatics.
I wish we could all be friends.
Me too, Gwen.
"Hey, Gwen what're you doing?" asked Ted, while Edith waved her hand in front of Dolly's face.
She broke her eye contact with Inaya.
"Talking to Inaya telepathically."
"I expect this from you, Dolly, but not Inaya," said Edith.
Just then Hungry landed in front of Ted with a note from Jim, it said:
Tedward,
Like I'd be dumb enough to believe in ghosts. You total flake. You remember that girl Melissa, the one who kept fainting, apparently my blood wasn't the only thing that she was fainting about… We're going on a date next Saturday, wish me luck!
Happy late Halloween,
Jimothy
Ted smiled at the note before putting it in his pocket.
"Why are you talking to her now instead of later? What's so important?" asked Mason.
"We asked Andromeda which side she'd be on if the war broke out."
"What did she say?" Ted asked.
"That she didn't think there needed to be a war, people can just live separately. But, she said that if there was a war, she'd be on her family's side."
"So, she doesn't like muggleborns," said Ted.
"Wait! Maybe… Maybe she's on her family's side but doesn't agree with them?" said Edith.
"Why can't she just be clear!" yelled Gwen, then everyone in their group looked at her.
"It's really hard to know which side she's on okay… Even when it's clear it's still vague!"
"It doesn't matter, she'd put her murderous family before saving muggles and muggleborns from being killed or tortured!" said Ted.
"I have an idea, I just have to consult with Inaya," she made eye contact with Inaya for a couple of seconds as the rest of the group looked at her confused, "She's okay with it! Here's my idea, at the end of each day Naya, Andromeda and I meet in the library at the same table to organize our notes and study, how about you come?"
"Sounds like an okay idea…" said Mason.
"We can do that! What time?"
"We finish school at 4:30 so let's meet around 4:45!"
"Hey, Mason." Ted whispered.
"Ted, I'm in class."
They were both in class, but Mason wanted make his stance clear on what they should be doing.
"C'mon, Mason, we're just excited to talk to Andromeda, she's an enigma !" Edith whispered.
"Guys, Charms is the subject I do the least well in so, please, let me concentrate. You should be working too."
"What's your average in Charms?"
"17,5."
"That's an awesome average! You're fine!"
"Awesome for you, Edith, but not for me."
"Ugh, fine. If I cared about my grade in Charms I'd be offended, so you should be very glad I don't."
"I'm very glad." Mason said, not looking up from his notes.
Edith and Ted let Mason concentrate, but they played hangman the rest of the class. Before you call them bad students they were using spells as the words you were supposed to guess. That's educational. Edith won 20 times and Ted won 16 times.
Andromeda walked over to the library she had had a long day. She'd tripped on one of the staircases while they were moving and almost fell three floors, but she was able to catch herself at the last second. No one had seen her so everything was fine.
She got to the library, and pulled out A Dove Among the Crows . It was Friday, she was going to relax. Her head still in the book she took the familiar path to the table in the library where her friends were meeting her. She was going to sit down in her usual seat when she noticed someone sitting there.
She looked up and saw Inaya and Gwen in their usual seats. She was very confused.
"Who's this?" she asked them.
"That's Mason Mckinnon, my partner in Arithmancy,"
"Why is he here? You usually study with him during the weekend?" she asked, then she noticed yet another person she didn't know, a girl in Hufflepuff robes.
"Who are you?"
"Edith Faith, nice to meet you?" she said, putting out her hand for Andromeda to shake.
Andromeda looked down at the hand, then to Edith's hopeful face. She looked at her friends and asked:
"Why is she here?"
"Andy, we have something to tell you," said Gwen, nervously.
"What is it?" she said, still standing, there were two seats still around the table but she'd only sit in her seat.
"You must've noticed that we've spent a bit more time apart this year," said Inaya.
"Not really, I was busy with studying for O. , and we see each other everyday at this time at this table."
"Well, we've made friends with Edith, Mason and Ted Tonks… and we think that we could all be friends together," said Inaya.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Andromeda said, confused and hurt.
"We didn't know how you'd react."
"But friends tell each other all necessary information, this is very important information that you just kept from me! What else are you keeping secret?"
"We aren't keeping anything else secret, Andy. This was it."
"I knew you were always more friends with each other than me, but I thought I was still part of a group."
"Andy, we can be part of a bigger group don't you see-"
"No!" she yelled looking into their eyes, then remembering she was in a library became very quiet and stared at the floor, "We have no reason to be friends any more, I can just spend more time with my sisters. It will be better for my reputation anyway; I can not be friends with blood-traitors and muggleborns. I hope you have fun gallivanting with the lower classes. Goodbye."
"Andromeda, wait-" Inaya tried to catch up to her but she was already gone.
While leaving the library she bumped into someone, it was Ted. She felt hurt and angry and she knew she shouldn't take this out on him or anyone but she couldn't help herself.
"Thanks for stealing my friends… Jerk!"
He raised his eyebrows at the terrible insult.
Ted went to the table and sat down as he said:
"Guess, it didn't work out."
When Andromeda made it back to the common room she went straight to her dormitory. Her dorm-mates hadn't come up yet. She sat on her bed and looked up at the ceiling.
After a couple minutes her sisters came in.
"So we noticed that you weren't in the common room," Bellatrix said, leaning against one of the posts of the bed.
"What happened, 'Meda?" Narcissa said, leaning over to pat her head. She looked at Bellatrix a little panicked, they didn't really know how to comfort someone.
"I'm not friends with Inaya and Gwen,"
"Well, I never liked them,"
"Bella!" Narcissa scolded.
"What? I'm just saying they never respected her like our friends do."
"I guess that's true, Shafiq and Fawley are nothing like Kerry, or the Lestranges." Narcissa conceded.
There was a pause while Narcissa kept stroking Andromeda's hair.
"You'll make much better friends. How about we go to Hogsmeade together! We could go shopping, get some new clothes! It'll be so fun!" said Narcissa, in a cheery tone.
"Okay…" said Andromeda. Narcissa looked at Bellatrix.
"I'm sorry, I already planned something with Rodolphus and Rabastan. I don't like shopping."
"That's fine! Andromeda we'll have a great time without Bella," she whispered the next part, "Plus we don't really want fashion advice from someone who only wears black."
"If you didn't want me to hear that, you should've tried much harder."
"Maybe I thought that you could use the advice." Narcissa said, with a pointed look and mischievous smile.
Narcissa giggled, and Bellatrix grinned. Andromeda gave in with a small smile.
Now that we're a fourth of the way through, I'm going to give some info about this fic! It will be 20 chapters and first in a series of 4 to 5 books. So it's going to take a while for Tedromeda to happen. I'd like to hear what you guys think, so R&R!
